I’m a private hire driver specialising in medium to long distance runs from single trip business people, to families travelling to the airport. My first Superb was 16 plate SEL exec 190 bhp diesel fully loaded with 19 inch wheels, racked up just under 230,000 miles. My second Superb has around 150, 000 miles on it 150 bhp diesel 18 plate. Observations I wouldn’t bother with 19” wheels and low profile tyres makes the ride harsh, and as the review said the car isn’t designed to be sporty The 150 bhp Diesel engine still gives you plenty of go even fully laden and there’s no need for ad blue, the 180 feels much the same apart from top end roll on power at much higher speeds. Adaptive cruise control is a must have, as is a DSG box, the driver modes are also good to have because you can really stiffen up the car when required. The drivers seat gets a bit saggy at the 150k mark, the bi xenon headlights on dipped beam are rubbish and cut off far to early for acceptable motorway speeds so hopefully the new LED’s will resolve this one. The venting and air con are excellent, the visibility outstanding, and although the car is really long it’s dead easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces even in London traffic. The engines are bullet proof, although EGR valves are prone to go if you idle the engine a lot, the heated screens cost a fortune to replace if you end up cracking them so use the adaptive cruise control to keep a safe distance from trucks etc on the motorway. The space and comfort in these cars is immense nothing beats them, when I’m really busy I can be in the car for literally hours on an end and I wouldn’t swop it for anything comparable. Finally in 380,000 miles I’ve never broken down, it’s never failed to start, and it’s just a bloody great car!

Agree with all the above but just as an fyi, the beam pattern of the xenon lamps can be adjusted by the dealer to shine further ahead. Likewise for me though I've driven a hell of a lot of cars and nothing beats a superb it's an absolutely brilliant all-round car.

This is a car that has just recently caught my attention with how much you get for such little money compared to premium brands.ive owned alot of estate cars as I think they're so practical. I have to say that my girlfriend and I have been looking at the SUV market but it's saturated but the high driving position is something that is really attractive to me.I do have a soft spot for estate cars and really may have to consider a superb and your experience with the vehicle is great to hear.👍🏻

Yep. The last "Holden Commodores" were badge engineered Opel Insignias which fooled no-one. The NZ Police had to pull the hatchback versions and replace them with the station wagons, because people kept banging their heads on the slopey rooflines. I think this is a good choice for a police car. The thirty jurisdictions that already use Skodas can't be wrong. No I'm not a Skoda fan, but still....

I have a 67 plated estate, 1.4TSI 150HP DSG SEL Executive, I added, Kessy (Keyless entry and start), Interior light pack, pan roof, mats and Quartz Grey paint, and no cost option of pegasus alloys. Im normally around 45 MPG and im not a big miles driver, hence the petrol rather than diesel. Its nearly 3 years old and just passed the 29,000 miles mark. Other than a water pump failure (under warranty) which Skoda sorted me a rental VW Touareg 3.0 V6TDi to use for a few days I haven't had any issues. Ride comfort is exceptional, the space is second to none, I even moved a garden furniture set in one move (metal table and 4 chairs along with cushions and parasol), its also moved a 6 ft single bed no trouble. Someone mentioned road noise, I have no concerns with that either. My local dealer Marshalls of Northampton are useless (top mechanic is 1st class) the service side of things is about the worst I have encountered, so next month I am trying Wings of Peterborough. I have since got my Wife a Karoq SE (New) my Dad also has a Karoq SE (New) and my father in law has an SE Octavia (12 month old), we haven't had any trouble with any of these three cars, and all three family members concerned are very pleased. One last note about fuel based on around £1.09 a litre, I fill up for £75 (from 10 mile range) and this will get me around 550-600 miles. Next car will be Sept 2021, it will be another Skoda/Seat/VW.

I’m in Australia & have the 2017 Sportline which came fully loaded! All the tech gear, sunroof, roof rails etc. It only misses on the full digital display/new centre console display. Honestly I wasn’t fussed. I could’ve bought the VW Passat with these additional features, but on price & inclusions this killed it. 2L , 206kw/276hp petrol engine. To say it’s not sporty is a personal observation. What I love about it is when the VW Gti owners pull alongside at the traffic lights & “attempt” to drag my sedate wagon off. They can’t! Not that I’m looking to take them on...😈🤭It handles brilliantly in 4WD guise & it’s just Superb!🤣 I had a Mercedes GLC prior to this & this & I traded it for the Skoda. Family & friends are amazed at the room inside as you pointed out is nothing short of limousine like. No regrets. 👍🏼

I had a 2018 3series wagon. Thought I had a lot options. Traded it in for the L&K, fully loaded. Now I have all the extras and twice the room. On a daily basis, don’t miss the the 3 series at all. Totally changed the way I look at “luxury brands” and what you get.
@nickvrsnm
@nickvrsnm 4 года назад
it really is an outstanding car, especially in terms of value-for-money, my current one is only mid-spec by comparison to my previous L&K but I still love the thing. So much better than any of the competition and by far better screwed-together than the products of it's parent company, so much so that VW have tasked SKODA with co-developing the next generation PASSAT alongside the next gen SUPERB which will be built entirely by SKODA. So the first person to buy a next-gen PASSAT will be the first person in history to buy a SKODA with a VW badge on it :)

Ivan Kase A bloke I know of here in my town had a 3 series BM wagon too. I showed him my Skoda & 8 weeks later he traded his Beemer for one! The size, as he & his wife cycle was the main consideration but the interior room on top got him! Furthermore he couldn’t believe the included features above the BMW! Another concert to the fold! Amen 🙏🏻 🤣

I have the 1.5TSI SE L estate and the engine is perfectly fine for lugging loads about. Worth noting that the model shown, 4x4 Sportline is absolutely loaded with extras. The Sportline in UK is based on the entry-level Superb S with sporty kit and some interior cosmetic bits and bobs. I had a 2017 standard Sportline in 187ps diesel which someone wrote it of in an accident. Replaced it with the SE L 1.5TS, which, all-round for, comfort and kit is a far nicer car.

I have a 68 plate, I got mine keep on nearly new due to the facelift. Personally I prefer the badge rather than the Skoda name on the boot. I have to say this is the best car I've ever owned. I have an SE Executive with a few bells. The only thing I couldn't get that I wanted was the fully digital display. However, at the time the review were saying that there was a delay on the display, which for the most part is not a problem, except on the speed counter...... However, I have to say at the moment the Skoda's are probably the best buys at the moment. Unless you are truly going for luxury, this gives you everything you need.

The very top spec L&K trim 272bhp AWD....even with extra spec is £47k list price. You'll get it for around £42/43k. Yes, it's not quite as refined and sporty as an Audi and the interior isn't as plush.....but an A6 with similar spec could cost you £15k more.

I had one, 2018/2019 top of the range, ticks all the boxes for passenger and load capacity, performance and economy, BUT because it is big inside it is pretty noisy I wasn’t convinced by build quality

Comparing with Mondeo yes, but why with much smaller cars like the BMW 3 series and Audi 4 series? These are in the same class as the Octavia.

Very professional and informative review. Just a couple of grammar errors though. 1 it should be compared WITH not TO. 2 re seats he should have said SITTING not SAT - the latter being past tense. Otherwise great🎉🎉🎉

It sounds loud in the cabin. It would be good if you routinely measured how loud the cabin noise is when travelling at motorway speeds.

Has the same seats-up rear boot space as a 308 SW, I kid you not (though it's a different story when you put them down). There's an iV plug-in hybrid which loses 150 litres of space - I'm surprised this model wasn't brought up.

Nice review! One thing I don’t get... 2.0 TDI diesel produces 106 g/km CO2 2.0 TSI petrol produces 161 g/km CO2, this is 50% more compared to the diesel equivalent🤷🏻‍♂️ How about our common goal in reducing CO2?

New Mazda 6 or this Skoda superb(sedan variants)? What would be your choice? Mazda 6 has more luxurious interior I would say, but engines without turbo, at least in Europe.

I wish they sold the Skoda line up of autos in the USA!!!!! A different look, with what sounds like superb features. I would buy one if they did. Does anyone know if they ship to USA & if so, how much it would cost to ship one? I love the shade of blue. Is this the metallic color you had mentioned?

Hi, in Czech republic where Skoda is mostly produced, the car in video costs about 56k $ and shipping with insurance is at least another 10k $. You can have fully loaded BMW 3 (even M). Skoda Superb is great car competing with Passat etc. but with US car prices it does not worth import ti into US.

Good video but some constructive criticism... 1. When talking about driving position, can you talk more about actual seat comfort? Also would be interested to know how well centred driver is to steering wheel and pedals as many Germans cars are not. 2. Very few car reviews ever talk about the stereo quality. What is the standard spec (speakers, wattage) Vs upgrade? 3. Why does every car reviewer compare the Superb to the A4 and 3 Series? Surely size wise it's more A6 and 5 Series? 4. You didn't say much about the driving experience. It sounded quite nosy. Is it? 5. You said there was a "new diesel engine”. What does that mean? 6. Why do so many car reviewers criticise infotainment controls and never acknowledge the functionality of the steering wheel? Clearly reaching for the volume knob for the driver is not actually a problem! 7. Work on the hand waving. It's a bit over the top. Cheers

The Superb. Go for diesel 190 hp , 4x4 and dsg. And DCC (adaptive dampers) is a nice option. Leave it in comfort and you're good to go. Get rid of 19 wheels. Buy after market 18 for summer and 17 for winter (if you have snow in your country)

It sounds crazy I know but this car is in the same class as based on the same platform as Passat.... and Passat is 3 serries and a4 competitor. I have owned Superb, 3 serries and Passat but not a4. I can say that the Passat feels closer to the 3 serries in size but yet definitely larger. The superb on the other hand, it feels like completely different car, in a class of it's own. Not even closer with the Passat let alone the 3-serries. But... they still class them together!
