I recently had a 2021 Crosstrek Limited as a rental in Alaska, it did awesome off road on the trails and hills and the snow. If you live in the mountains or have bad winters with snow and icy roads. It's the vehicle for you!
We just bought this exact trim a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be happier! We went for the Cool Grey Khaki which is that beautiful mix of blue/grey. I love how the badging, grille, wheels, shark fin antenna, and mirror caps are all painted metallic dark grey instead of cheap black plastic or gaudy chrome. The gold stitching and Crosstrek embroidery on the seats are a very sporty touch. The grey/black water repellent seats are very comfortable and high-end looking and the fact that they're heated makes for a great value. Lastly, I like the fact that Subaru still equips some of their vehicles with CD players. That's my preferred music source! I grew up with CD players and hate to see them go away. Subaru is one of the last automakers to still offer CD players other than Mazda.
@@ronavena The CX-30 never had it since it came out for 2019. It's their latest model so of course they didn't equip it with an old technology. However, I believe the CX-5 still has it considering it hasn't been fully redesigned since 2017. The Mazda 6 still has it since it hasn't been fully redesigned since 2014. They did give it a facelift for 2018 inside and out but still kept the CD player.
I reserved a white limited but they had already sold it before I got to the dealership. They said they had a cool grey khaki coming in soon, had to Google the color. After seeing it, I said that's even better!
Yeah that's awesome, I'm only 6'1" with huge feet so I've had my share of issues as well. I wish the grill was nicer on these things, maybe I need to see them in person.
Test drove a 2021 Crosstrek Limited. Drives well and has lots of great safety features. This is the top of the line trim, but still lacks rear USB, rear vent, and standard moon roof. Also, the passenger seat is manual adjust.
The colour is this car is great. I also really liked the tall person segment. It's surprising how many supposedly spacious cars do not work for tall people for lots of different reasons
Just purchased a lightly used 2021 limited (2.5 liter) . Great car, excellent visibility, ots of safety features and love the X mode. However my biggest gripe is the lack of rear vents and heated rear seats that i have in my 2018 legacy limited. But thats about it. Surprisingly the crosstrek has better overall mileage than the legacy.
2018, 66,000 miles and the only problem was battery had to be replaced. 36 miles per gallon at 65 miles per hour. Infotainment system sucks but it works.
I test drove a Subaru Crosstrek and a Kia Seltos along with a Jeep Renegade yesterday and I have to say that the Kia and the Subaru were in my opinion 2 of the best vehicle's so far. The Subaru Crosstrek has a great engine/transmission combination that made it feel very good visibility is pretty good ( the Seltos was a bit better 😅😅). The handling is very good. The ride is one on point and the mpg is nothing to complain about. However for all of it's pros there are a couple of cons. One of cons I have to complain about is the ignition. For $34,000 I would expect a keyless option like a push button starter or keyless entry. The Kia Seltos has a keyless option. So Subaru what's the deal?? Other than that a very good vehicle. And a good vehicle for the money$$$. a good buy.
@NORTHWOODSPREPPER1 he’s probably not commuting by it though. That seems like a lot of work to get to work unless there’s a helipad at his house and at his work.
i guess because that what the manufacture offer to the reviewers and it shows everything that you could get in this model, AND it has the highest profit margin. XD
when you change your volume you can't push any other buttons. because normally when i adjust the audio to my music, i need to push SOO many buttons right away.
Manual Awd small CUV with a little tow capacity is all I am asking for. No cvt or DCT. Simple creature comforts. Comfortable seating front and rear. The Crosstrek checks off a lot of boxes and the only vehicle available to do so under $30k. #savethemanuels
@@jmitchell3127 yup! Now we have the Bronco Sport. To bad it doesn't come in a manual. With a turbo and a normal automatic it definitely takes the cake!
Until you have trans leaks at 75-80k and den oil leak from 100-150k depending on how high oil type you stick with and you may blow a seal gasket before 150k Subaru are not built very well why you think it’s only 22k for a brand new one cuz they are junk
Saw this exact color on the road one day and I instantly whipped my eyes back on it and fell in love Looking around for my first car and I think this is the one, love that plasma yellow color, don’t mind the lumbar issue, a buy off the discount stores and I’ll live
Great car, but the competition is catching up, especially in the powertrain department. They should make the 2.5L standard, and perhaps add a turbo model for the higher trim levels. Subaru should also make some sort of limited slip rear locker available for the "Wilderness" models. I bought an Impreza, and am happy with it. As to price, one should really move up to the Premium trim level at least. I bought the base model, but after adding automatic and a couple of options, was close to Premium levels, which is a much nicer car (CD player, heated mirrors/seats, better ride quality).
The competition is sub-compact, the Crosstrek is based on the compact Impreza so for example, the Crosstrek has almost 5 inches more of rear leg room than the Toyota Corolla Cross. with which it's often compared and Jeep level road clearance where the Mazda CX-30 can't touch (not to mention Mazda's rough ride often described as bone jarring). It's almost as if it's on a different class.
@@CorkKNIFE True for some, like the Kona and HRV, but the CX-30 is based on the Mazda 3 (not really a sub-compact) and the Corolla Cross (obviously) is based on the compact Corolla.
Nice review! Question... Of the compact and small SUVs you're familiar with, which have tighter on-center steering precision? That's important to me. Thanks.
I have an impreza right now and its great other then the fact that the ground clearance is way to low for Wyoming winters. Ive had some front bumper damage and also managed to smash my windshield washer fluid reservoir from hitting a baseball size piece of ice in the road
I’m looking for a daily driver so I can get rid of my nightmare Santa Fe. Trying to decide between a Crosstrek and Corolla. I just need something dependable, one that doesn’t cost a fortune in repairs and good on gas.
I own the Impreza hatchback. I wanted the crosstrek, but the vehicles are pretty much identical and I’m not shelling out $5k more for ground clearance that no one ever uses.
8 more shopping days til the "completely average dude" Micah's birthday! P.S. According to the Internet, Crosstrek roof rails can hold 700 lbs (including tent). P.S.S. Thanks for your input, KBB Video Pro Mike Danger
I looove that they included the sport trim this year with the 2.5L engine, But seeing that yellow-green Sport decals/stitching, plastics, etc is God-awful hideous in person (not a fan of the yellow green paint body color either) REALLY wished they went with the orange that was in the forester sport AT LEAST.
@7:03 that was not my experience with the "Eyesight". Its thumbs down from me. I vote to get the manual without "Eyesight". You get more driving pleasure and relaxed driving on a long trip where "Eyesight" won't do unwanted steering maneuvers.
its a thumbs up for me, makes any longgg straight hwy driving super relaxed. In city with lots lane changing+ cornering you just turn it off (but you still have AEB and blind spot monitoring =saves 10%insurance every year). Too bad there's no manual for 2.5 engine only cvt available and certainly less driving pleasure for a 2.0 engine that's 1 sec slower and less fuel efficient
The problem with most Subarus, their head gaskets blow. And if you decide to buy one, always go with a manual transmission because that 2.5l engine is too much for a cvt transmission which they tend to go out and get very pricey in repairing.
The head gasket problem has pretty well been corrected. Highest reliability ratings from _Consumer Reports_ last time I looked. The CVT transmission? A newly whelped puppy has too much torque for that.
2:12 lmao um, no. I'm not a car person so I can only speak from my limited experience on earth but my test drive of this car, which I like enough so far, thought this was one of the most sluggish cars I've test driven in two months. (Volvo S60 T8 Hybrid was the most insane, so far.) I may try a Rav4, which I hear is sluggish as well.
Lol, it's a compact CUV. Want a little speed get a Hyundai Kona N, or the Mazda Turbo (this one you'll regret in a few years). Otherwise a Porsce Macan is your next vehicle.
@@danielfair4675 I had a Corolla with dual climate zone and let me tell you; dual climate is a relationship/marriage savor. You don’t know the luxury of that until you have it. Or been on very long car rides where your gf likes it seventh layer of hell hott and you are dying of heat stroke 😂 plus the Canadian version of the Crosstrek has dual climate zone.
@@EONEILL1987 the wifey drives a loaded Chrysler 300c awd w/the Hemi. Dual climate, heated & cooled cup holders, heated & cooled seats, heated steering wheel, rear window powered sunshade, and numerous other goodies. I've seen it & used it all .... the Crosstrek Limited has everything I need, to keep me perfectly content.
@@danielfair4675it's true it may not need dual zone climate control (just purchased a 2021limited model) but my only gripe is it lacks rear vents and heated rear seats like my limited legacy
I'd consider it adequate. You might need to plan passing maneuvers on the freeway, but it's not terribly slow. I haven't gone full throttle in mine since I'm still breaking in the engine.
I like how it’s suitable for terrible drivers, so I don’t unexpectedly crash into someone’s back, or drift into the other lane (they give anyone a drivers license now a days)
I have a 2015 and havent done anything except brakes and oil.. these vehicles are fucking amazing. Actually trading in my 2015 this week for a 2021 Limited.
@@pambritz3166 yup subaru has taken top marks in almost every segment it competes in. Crosstrek destroyed everything in its segment in consumer reports!
Most low-end cars still use halogens, at least as standard and with LEDs only as an option. Some cheaper cars come standard with LEDs, but with the price point, the LEDs usually aren't that bright. Like the Corolla has LEDS as standard, but they're really crappy and dim. Would rather just have good halogens for the money.
@@AkioWasRight Good point. I guess I’m just jaded because my 2016 Passat still has halogen reflector headlights that suck and they are such an outdated technology. Everyone should at least use halogen projectors at minimum.
"You can sell a young man's car to an old man, but you'll never sell an old man's car to a young man." Nothing screams "DEPENDS AND PREPARATION H" louder than an automatic, except that a CVT adds an exclamation point.
They've been on vehicles since the early 2000's, the Chevy Suburban had them back then. Welcome to the world of protecting your wheel arches from rusting out in 5 - 7 years. Dodge can back that statement with their trucks. 😄
Subaru needs to offer the 2.5L with a manual transmission. Dealerships and manufacturers complain that manuals don't sell, but it's because they only offer manuals with weak engines and/or low grade interior/tech features
Mark Peter ..... Less than 20% of C6 & C7 Corvettes were sold with manuals for almost 15 years. You honestly think CUV/SUV sales are gonna be better than a sports car? You're crazy.
Subaru rebuilt our Impreza engine 3 times . Had transmission problems and now A/C condenser needs replacement at 90,000 miles . You suck Subaru. Waiting for Corolla Cross coming soon .
