Time for -5 Bat Madness! Include the obvious composites (don't know aluminum would be necessary except maybe Marucci because it seems to be top USSSA seller) Demarini, Louisville, etc, but also Dirty South, True and some of the other USSSA oddities. I'd definitely watch.
My analysis The Goods: So basically the USSSA have thicker walls to create more mass to hit it farther, and BBCOR has thinner ones for regulations (with alloy), which basically makes there less trampoline with thicker walls which is why, even with a ring, the thin walled BBCOR The Goods is better than the USSSA one. CF Zen: So with composite the walls stay the same or else the durability would be sheet metal. That doesn’t change, but with BBCOR, there is either a sleeve, a ring, or both in the barrel to make the trampoline effect dampened. In USSSA that isn’t necessary so the bats can be as hot as the surface of the sun and hotter. They also get hotter as the composite breaks apart, which it can’t do in BBCOR or it’ll break. *This applies to USABaseball since it’s basically the same as BBCOR* Hope this helped your understanding of why one is better than the other!
Thinner barrel walls equals more trampoline effect, thus more pop, in USSSA you want thinner barrel walls and in BBCOR you want thicker walls for more pop because you can’t have a lot of trampoline effect
I was thinking of getting this particular Zen after watching the video of it versus the z2k. I used to use a z2k in high school/AAU games and no longer have it. I wanted to take some batting practice with friends this upcoming summer and need a good bat with some pop. Thanks for all of the videos and data that you produce, you’re the number one source of information for thousands of people out there and we are all very thankful for what you do.
You guys do a PHENOMENAL job reviewing the different bats! YOU are the reason I selected the USSSA -5 CF for my 11 year old, and the BBCOR -3 The Goods for my 13 year old. Thank you for your unbiased opinions. Keep up the great work!!!!
Good lord, that special guest recruit you brought on is hitting balls that resemble a plane taking off of a runway. Just looks different, sounds different, just wow impressive
40 seconds ago, also two bats y’all should check out. Marucci just release a 50 dollar wood bat, called “rake cage bat” and I got it. It seems legit for 50. It’s maple too. Also can y’all try to get ur hands on a Louisville 2018 918? The best sounding bbcor bat ever. Love to se me that
12:16 *takes absolute father stroke* if you watch closely you can see piss flying off the ball and as it rapidly goes into orbit you can see a star twinkle once it passes the limits of the atmosphere gahdamm
You guys should combine a bunch of these clips of bombs and put them all in one video and put a song with some beat drops in the background and that would be sick. Just my opinion
"Trash can, Astros" lol 🤣 I love me some Bat Bros videos, you guy's never disappoint! Mason has some serious power. I could hear the difference wh5he connected vs Will and Cam and you guys hit nukes every video. This was a fun one to watch
You guys are putting in the work, content wise! Keep up the insanity! In the extra cred at the end, I can't believe dude went 110 ... !!! #TrashCan #Astros #YardO
We bought the CF first and in the first week it was destroyed. We then got "The Goods" and it has held up and we have not noticed any change in distance. "The goods" is not end loaded and makes for a nice swing. Batting avg. went up with "The goods". Im sure if your a homerun hitter and looking to replace the bat often then the CF is perfect. If your a contact hitter then "The Goods" might be a better option.
Finally, USSSA comparison between Alloy vs Composite. Great Video. While you guys are trying drop -5 CF ZEN comparisons, you must checkout 2016 Easton Mako XL drop -5 too. I think nothing can compete with broken in MAKO XL. Not only its really endloaded, it’s so much heavier than CF ZEN so the durability is much better too. Its’ actual weight was close to 29oz. Like drop -3 version of USSSA. That’s why most kids liked the CF better because of its lighter weight.
I’ve had some hot alloys that lasted 3seasons across multiple years. I break a composite at least once a season in Asa/ usssa. The warranty is nice playing spring summer and fall leagues because the added costs are basically spread across a bat and a warranty replacement but still composite can go so quick. We’ve nuked bats out of the wrapper at around the 500 swing mark just doing bp breakin. Composite is catching up so fast though as so many comp bats are hot now right out of the wrapper.
Yo if you go slow-mo around 6:45 you can see that kids swing. His chin is like touching his rear delt, dudes got crazy extension no wonder he's got so much pop!
Coefficient of restitution, or your trampoline effect, same thing different wording. It would be interesting to see the difference between usssa and bbcor.
You guys gotta do an original z core and the vexxum from 2007 and the original Omaha gold and the Easton stealth sc900 stiff and flex handles Those bats hit nukes
the reason the 2017 zen is known as the best bat out there is because it doesn't matter where u hit it on the bat the ball is gone. the sweet spot is giant i know because I have it.
