With a massive 79 race program to get through, the racing came thick & fast. Star of the 500cc Solo's was James Shanes, but he had some stiff competition in the form of the spectacular Paul Cooper, always the entertainer. Young sensation Jake Mulford is already hard on the heels of Shanes and Cooper, and gives them something to think about in some fantastic action. Top 500cc Sidecar driver and former Solo rider, Mitch Godden makes a rare appearance in the 500cc Solo's, and although now considered a veteran has some great races with his younger competitors.
A new crew in the RH Sidecars look like they are going to be big stars in the class, and young brothers Thomas & Dillon Newton showed what they are capable of by not just mixing it with the established stars of the class, but beating them as well. Grandsons of former top driver Chris Tyrrell, they certainly seem to have inherited his racing genes. The racing in this class was absolutely awesome, with another young crew that look like certain future Masters champion, Kieran Hicks with passenger Kieron Ivy, mature riding beyond their years. Put in Gareth Winterbur/Liam Brown, and Mark Cossar/Gareth Williams, Paul Whitelam/Richard Webb, and you've got yourself some real on the edge of your seat racing.
The 250cc Solo's saw some absolutely cracking action between David Knowles, Luke Harris, and Ricky Scarboro, back out of retirement after several years, Scarboro looked like a new man. The 350cc Solo class looks more like the Veterans class, but these older guys sure can race, with former 350cc British Champion Wayne Broadhurst looking even better than ever. Mark Giles and Dave Mears always have some great battles, and the only youngster they seem to have to deal with, is the spectacular flat out style of Jamie Fenn-Smith, but would he stay upright, which is always the question. If he does, then he'll cause problems for everyone. The GT140's have grown very quickly into a really competitive class, and with some former grasstrack & speedway stars taking the class up, there's some very quick men, but there's also a very quick woman now, in the shape of Maxine Beck (Formally Hill), who was a very useful 250cc rider many years ago. Maxine is certainly going to give the men a run for their money.
With some great racing in all the other classes, there was something for every grasstrack fan. From the Youth classes, to LH Sidecars, Upright Solo's, 500cc Sidecars, and the Quads.
