I hiredd one of these for a few days while my car was in the shop. I could never get the battery to charge enough to allow EV-only mode. And it would only crawl along a little distance before the engine kept cutting in. I filled the tank with unleaded and drove from my house to Stoke on Trent and back which was about 120 miles in all. The car used over two thirds of a tank of fuel!! That's terrible performance. And the MPG was rubbish too. My 2008 Saab 1.9TID with 200bhp can do over 50mpg. For the exact same trip, I filled the tank with Diesel and afterwards, the fuel gauge had only just begun to start dropping from full. Non-plug-in hybrids are a waste of time. PHEVs are where it's at. 30+ miles of EV only driving range and plug in to chage at night. This can cover most people's daily commute and more and never use a drop of petrol.
