Many people reviewing the LC in America and elsewhere don’t actually bring it off-road and showcase what it really is capable of. This video distinguishes itself in this respect. Bravo!
Yeah but in their defense it’s a $90k vehicle. I’m a Toyota fan for life but the 4runner and Tacoma are kicking the crap out of the Landcruiser for a reason. I really hope in coming years they can remake the LC as a cheap, under $25k off roader with bare bones tech but still bulletproof Toyota reliability
@@nassseerrrr4605 well duh and it had better for $90k. I’m just saying the common man isn’t going to pay that amount of money for it. Trust me, if I win the lottery the first thing I’d buy is a new Landcruiser, but that’s the only way I’d be able to afford one
some times weight is good in the snow some times weight is bad. True all-wheel drive weight can be very helpful. Both my Tacoma & Jeep float over snow. Whereas my dad's Tundra digs. Definitely impressive what it did with those tires. Would love to what it could some bfgs, wildpeaks, toyos.
This is the ultimate SUV with the body-on-frame, off-road capabilities and comfort. I own 2006 Lexus LX 470 that is based on the Land Cruiser 100 series (They had very similar interior/exterior back then than now). I wish Toyota would sell Land Cruisers in Canada as well as in US.
As much impressed i am with land cruiser, i am more by the hard work u put into making this video.... Placing cameras on tripod along the path on deep snow.... That too alone.... 🤩🤘 Salute!
@@matthewputnam7486Toyota issued an official statement on Dec 24 2020. It's gone in 2022. I bought a 20 Heritage in White in anticipation of it going away. She's parked next to my 02 4Runner and will be solid for at least 20yrs. Love the LC... truly nothing even close out there.
In dubai they have a saying that goes like: when you want to go to the desert go with a Nissan patrol but if you want to go and come back go with the land cruiser
Today I was having a tough ride on my rav4 on the parking lot and thought it would be great to have a Land Cruiser. And here it is a Land Cruiser in the snow ❄️
One thing we didn't touch on -- the Land Cruiser will probably be worth more in the next 5-10 years than the price paid today. Time to trade up the RAV4. ;)
@@drivingsports just don’t laugh, I am choosing between Land Cruiser and Lexus RX as my potential next car. I have several years to think. On one hand I understand RX will be a good car for city and highways driving, on other hand, the idea to have ultimate car is very attractive. P. S. I am from Ukraine and bad roads are common here :( P.P.S. You are right regarding prices. Here they sell used LC with 50k of range almost as new.
Its amazing that they were able to get a full time 4WD vehicle that big and heavy to go 0-60 in ONLY 6.7 seconds! Thats incredible! Can't wait until I can upgrade to a 200 series, but love our LX470.
Thank you for the review. I just bought one and live in the northeast and will primarily use its capability for snow driving. I must point out one error that many many of these reviews make. At 9:10 you talk about "sport" mode and having to manually shift. That is not what that is. It is simply referred to as S mode and all it does it set an upper gear for the transmission. If you put it on 4 it will only allow the transmission to shift up to 4th gear. It is not a sport mode or manual shifter. Otherwise a great and informative review. Many reviewers make that mistake. It doesn't hurt the quality of your video or content. Thanks.
Great video! We love our 2016 200, it’s a beast in the snow we’ve had in Missouri. When you tried to use turn assist, turn assist is unavailable with the center diff locked. I learned that playing around in the snow
So I have had my 2021 HE for over a year now and it is truly the best vehicle I have ever owned. Some reviewers have complained about how old many of the features are, but the thing is that they all work flawlessly, and that is the point. There just is not as much to go wrong. The only things I have added are rock sliders, front, engine, and transfer case skid plates and BFG K2’s. I have not found a trail it can’t handle. I’m sure they are out there, but I’m not trying to climb cliff faces either. Based on what I have seen, I’m really not that sad that the 300 did not come to the US. I think the Lexus looks ridiculous. No way I’d ever be seen in that thing.
This is what was needed for the pass several years. A Land Cruiser without the third row seats. I rather have more cargo space than carry more people. There should have been at least a option for that. Glad to see this model.
@@trailrunnah8886 I like the v6. It does the job. I would like that v8 more though. I live in the mountains so the 5 speed constantly shifting annoys me more than the v6. 4runner with the LC powertrain would be sweet
@@daltonv5206 yeah, it's the constant shifting that annoys me, as well as the sound. I think it's a very rough sounding engine. Yeah that 5.7 in the 4Runner would be a dream! Maybe the 4Runner would be better if it had a more modern transmission with six or eight gears.
I’ve seen Emirates whip these suvs over sand dunes and through the desert, pushing them to their limits. This suv has more potential than 99% of the drivers that will ever own one.
Used to have a UK LC Colorado, as it was known here, with the 3L diesel, so nothing like the power of this engine. However, it never let me down, and nothing could stop it. I live on the side of a mountain in Scotland, and part of the track that comes up to our house is just straight up the hill, 1:4 slope; we have had it with an inch of ice and 2" of snow on top on that steep slope (Michelin Latitude Alpin tyres), and it could handle it no problem. It was an older version, without the fancy electronics, but had centre and rear diff locks. Coming down you just put it in low-range 1st, locked up all the diffs, took your feet off the pedals, and it was go down sweet as a nut at a walking pace. Going up, low-range, diff locks, some momentum, and you always knew that it would recover from any slide and pick it back up again. I miss that truck.
I have a tire deflator like that and love it! It is nice because I air down to different pressures depending on the terrain so the type that screw in and shut off a preset pressure wouldn't work for me.
Haha, I can see from the map that the test was at Kirkland. Hello neighbor, great work as always! Enjoy the first (and probably the last) snow in this winter!
A person would normally use tire chains when driving in this heavy snow condition which would truly demonstrate this vehicle's ability to transverse slippery off road environments. I'd like to see the same test on this same path with fresh snow using tire chains.
Watching that behemoth go totally sideways when you first had to use mts. Just affirmed there is no substitute for lockers. If that had been a narrow trail it would have taken out the whole side of that beautiful rig. Great review, thank you for taking it off road!
Impressive snow performance! I have MTS on my 4Runner, always thought it was basically a gimmick. I'll have to give it a try next time I get out in the snow. Also, it's a shame that Toyota doesn't equip the Heritage model with a slightly better tire. That would be terrific if it came stock with a set of KO2's.
I'm in Love with my Toyota Sequoia 2004 no snow problems I really want to take it to the next Level this car are forevers sometimes I want to laugh at my neighbor who has a 2020 Mercedez Benz SUV and struggles to get it out of the snow
just bought a manual 2010 forester. I live in Portland and have been experiencing the snow storm just like you and Ive got some Bridgestone blizzak winter tires on it. it is TRULY an understatement to say tires make all the difference. having a great awd system from subaru is awesome and a big plus but it wouldn't do anything if it weren't able to put the power to the ground via good tires. watching videos like this just makes me excited for the day Im able to get one of these vehicles
The most over engineered vehicle in the world just like all Toyota's. I had a 100 Series LC that I kept for 8 years and it was awesome. Should not have sold it and I regret it to this day. I bought my 2nd LC (200 Series) in 2013 and still have this beauty. The 5.7L V8 is absolutely a great motor. I have the same V8 in my 2019 Tundra TRD Pro. It's a shame that the USA will not be getting the new 300 Series LC going forward. Only 3000 smart Americans buy LC's a year, the rest prefer to buy domestic crap. Toyota can't justify selling the LC in the US. The rest of the world will enjoy it. Long Live The LC!!!
Hail the King! 👑. Tested and proven in the most challenging, unforgiving, and demanding terrains and climates on the planet! Yes, I lust after a LandCruiser, but super happy that my 2018 TRD Off-Road Premium 4Runner can realistically do 95% of what the King can do with basically the same off-road systems. Slap some KO2s on, a 3” lift, proper armor and rock sliders, and you’re golden! After all, they’re made in the same 🇯🇵 factory. ❤️Toyota❤️
I took my Defender out today, knee-deep snow, not a single issue. I didn't even need low traction launch. I also have Goodyear Dura Trac tires, which were great on all the surfaces (deep snow, compact snow/ice). I love your channel.
I sure hope it got you back without any teething issues. If Toyota doesn't bring a 300 Series Land Cruiser back to the USA in the next few years we may have to consider other alternatives. The Defender looks nice and is capable but I'm not sure what to think about the durability. TFL had a time with there new Defenders. I hope they get the bugs worked out, because there isn't a dealership for 3 plus hours from my house.
I have a 4Runner, and really want to upgrade to a 2021 Landcruiser. I will resist as long as possible. Though the 2022 LC will make it easier to resist, as it doesn't look good at all.
Ryan, Land Cruiser sales have doubled in recent months, it looks like Toyota might be 'doing another FJ' with their decision to discontinue this model in the USA. In terms of pricing, I believe you could buy a SR5 Sequoia and SR5 4Runner for about the same price as this L.C.
Haha yeah you could. The LC is one of a kind and very special but I have a 2018 sr5 4runner with a 2 and a half inch lift and 33 inch tires and man it’s very capable, it’s taken me everywhere I’ve tried to go. It doesn’t have lockers but the ATRAC system is absolutely amazing and serves the same kind of purpose.
@@andyham6094 been saying that about my 2012 sr5 4runner for years,,see everyone lately buying trd models for rear lockers when a sr5 will take you just about anywhere a trd pro can go with decent tires and 2" lift
@@andyham6094 Toyota's SR5s are highly capable, highly reliable and simply the best DEAL in the 4X4 market. Having said that, the locking rear diff should at least be an option across the board. When you think about it, how much would it actually cost Toyota to install a locking diff at the factory on every 4Runner, Tacoma, Sequoia , Tundra etc if they made it standard equipment? My ball park guess is $500 or less.
The SR5 is a fantastic trim with a great value. The LC just takes Toyota's reliability and overbuilt nature to the nth degree. What is missing from the value conversation is resale.... especially when a model is killed. Think FJ prices are crazy? Imagine an LC Heritage in 3-5 yrs. The LC is Toyota's flagship...buy one if you can get it.
@@ATeam4204 To be fair, at this time it is unclear if Toyota is removing the Land Cruiser from the US market on a permanent or temporary basis. The current sales surge may have the accountants recalculating the corporate position. Going forward, a more basic Land Cruiser that does not duplicate the luxury of the Lexus LX might be logical but what does logic have to do with the car industry? Much more modestly equipped LC 200s are currently sold for prices in the range of $50-60,000 in other markets, could we get them too? The other big question is the design and capability of the next Sequoia. Will Toyota duplicate their past practice of offering a distinctly different design for the low-volume Sequoia or will it merge more closely with the next full size Land Cruiser? In the weird and wonderful world of Toyota 4X4s, we have plenty to debate, ponder, anticipate and discover over the next year or two.
@@drivingsports thats nice to hear. Tønsberg is the oldest town in Norway. I live around 90 minutes drive north of Tønsberg. Live on my farm outside a town called Hønefoss. Cheers and keep up your great work!👍
We have the best of both worlds. I have a 2019 Land Cruiser and my wife has a 2020 AG TRD Pro 4Runner. Both are amazing vehicles, but wouldn’t give up my LC200 for anything, especially since you won’t be able to get them in the US any longer.☹️
As far as this category goes I went with Infiniti qx80 sensory trim. Has 400 hp, awd and 4HI 4LOW options, snow, tow, TC. Also slapshift manual or full time automatic 7 speed. 7 speed manual is really cool. U can start off in manual and shift sideways to go to automatic. I could watch endless hours of SUV tests. #id love to see more off road videos of QX 80. Just went thru a washed out sand road in 4 low, easy. By the way flooring it at 25 mph, in first throws ya body back.
