When they say if you want a car that is durable and will last you longer, go for a vios. But dude, alot of 1996-2002 honda city models are still roaming around the streets up to now 😅
currently using 97' honda city A/T ok pa manakbo kahit 23 years old na edad nung kotse. both toyota and honda matibay nasa pag aalaga nalang ng owner yan.
I just think na, honda city has more history and has proven itself more than other competitors. Up to now, you can see more of the 2nd and 3rd gen city out in the streets, than of that 1st and 2nd gen vios even being in the same year model and despite their massive quantity during their time. Not a hater, i'm just tired of this old saying 😅 anyways it all comes down with the owners care.
Wow. Over the years I've always felt that trim for trim the Vios and City were more or less at par with each other, but this time it feels like the City is an entire generation ahead. That the Vios has better noise insulation over the City (and practically nothing else) does not justify that slightly higher price tag.
Ever since Honda city is the king of the subcompact segment in the Japanese market. And these years generation Honda City is still undisputed of them all. 👍🏻
Overall, I prefer the new City over the Vios, especially with its interior and engine performance, but the Vios is still a decent enough choice. Only if they added disc rear brakes and improved NVH a bit, the new City would have truly ran away from the Vios.
@@unknownd7409 oops! my bad..totally agree with you. Either way, both models are topnotch, in the end, depende na sa personal preference and need ng user. :)

Nice. I think for those who lean on the Vios do so because of the the little things that matters in the real world of daily driving, in the Philippines at least (read: provinces that are not blessed with extensive smooth concrete roads) : 1. Higher ground clearance (otherwise your vaunted freedom to travel with such a nice car will be limited to the city proper and malls, period) push the envelope and be ready to fix that front lip in no time at all. Pick your choice of culprit a.) speed bumps on steroids b.)road approaches to establishments that will challenge even respectable SUVs. c.) Never ending rough road detours of road construction left and right d.) Wait, is that a chicken in the middle of the road, in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere with no street lights, I'm doing 90 so, BAM! 2. No tunnel bump at the rear floor. Enough said. Sedans are the original 7 seater of the ordinary Filipino in the province. Yes, count 5 adults and 2 children. 3. Basic parts that can and are tuned to withstand abuse i.e steering components, suspension system, brakes, tranny mechanisms.. 4. Sheet metal that is less prone to corrosion overtime. (read: I live in the province blessed with a coastal area dotted with nice beaches. Of course I park my car next to our beach cottage and as near as possible to it. Salty ocean breeze is such a heavenly feeling to the lungs, but not so on most metal objects. And when we leave, I just put a towel in my seat and hop on: wet board shorts , dripping flipflops with generous sprinkles of sand, all aboard! 5. Comparatively, the Vios is still cheaper in maintenance cost in the long run with lesser inconveniences along the way as against the City (read: far and between casa location in the provinces, unavailability of parts and long wait order, plus they are quite expensive). Mind you, both are respectable brands that makes and use quality parts, so they don't just breakdown or anything, but they do have "schedules" to follow for "optimum" performance. Refuse to replace these parts, say goodbye to your warranty. Economy of scale sucks. 6. Aircon system that last as long as you need it. Hello, I will trade touchscreen gizmos and whatnots for a functioning A/C anytime. Handheld gadgets are doing most of their tasks anyway so not much loss there. 7. Acceptable safety features. Respectable number of airbags plus discs on all 4 wheels. Anyway, in my personal opinion, driver's who keep on yapping and looking for a long list of "assist" car features should have no business driving a car in the first place. We are not there yet of Star Trek level AI and navi tech. A driver should still drive consciously at all times, not the machine, and the world will be a better place. And the City, well it trumps the Vios on many aspects while at par with the others and vice-versa. Let us just say, Honda cars are for some of the more discerning individuals. In the end, the choice would really still depend on the preference of the user. As for pricing, well, it is a very tricky thing for carmakers. Things like, sales, current events, and strategies (read: level of corruption in the country where the plant is) play a part about that. Toyota still assembles Vios in our country *wink. Honda have already closed shop in Laguna *double wink. They say it would more cheaper to manufacture their units in their other manufacturing hubs and exporting them. But that is just one angle out of many. If you get what I mean, please nod your head and subscribe to the channel above. Thank you.
Proud owner here of Honda City RS my very first 🚘 exactly same color. ❤️❤️❤️
The masses will still choose the Vios over the City by sheer namesake alone. Doesn’t matter how much the City is better than the Vios. Toyota for the masses, and Honda for the higher classes, will always be in the head of the people even though it doesn’t seem that way for a while now. Even my parents choose Honda cars for the reason “kasi mas may dating” and it doesn’t help that the PMS and parts are costly.
Honda City RS napaka pogi 😍 We have both Vios (Grab use) and City (personal use) Driven both pero performance lang. Kumakadyot si Vios while Honda City don't. Lakas ng makina. Both E variant. 200cc makes a lot difference.
@@Mr.Bboy1968 I'm talking about mid-sized *body-on-frame* SUVs, not crossovers. (Although they should make a mid-sized crossover SUV comparo, like Santa Fe vs Sorrento vs CR-V vs Explorer vs CX-9)
Maski walang wala feature ng toyota marami parin bibili at bibili ng mga sasakyan nila kasi they're known for reliability and not features. Ewan ko ba sa mga pilipino maganda din naman ibang brands in terms of features, comfort and reliability but they still choose toyota maski mahal. Lol
Bulok in terms of karag-karag na ang katawan at naagnas na pero umaandar pa rin. Yung availability ng parts pati maski saan meron pati yung casa pag walang silang spare parts sa nearest auto supply lang sila kumukuha.
@@b.roa2366 Can't blame them though. For many, buying a car is an investment and of course, the best investment is the one that is most likely to yield long term rewards (case in point napakaraming 90s and noughties toyota vehicles still traversing our streets). Toyota is tried and tested in this aspect thus building up its reputation on reliability and as a "safe buy/investment" for the masses. Not to say other brands are not reliable, but histrorically Toyota is leading at this standard (sheer volume, vast availability of parts, etc) at syempre ayan naman usually unang consideration ng most buyers. In this comparo I prefer the City because it is better in nearly every aspect, but I won't blame people for choosing one of Toyota's staple cars.
City lower in Price but not in maintenance cost and parts,Vios higher price but more parts and cheaper to maintain,it will not lead the sales without a reason, but City is better overall.
Nice comparo. It's always subjective depending on personal needs and wants. If you want a common and no nonsense sub compact sedan choose Toyota Vios. If you want a fun with a touch of luxury/sporty with reliable iVTEC technology sub compact you choose Honda City. Honda City: 120 Horse Power @6,600 rpm with 145 Max Torque @4,300 rpm Toyota Vios: 106 Horse Power @6,000 rpm with 140 Max Torque @4,200
This kind of vlog deserves more views. Fun and educational. Hindi yung puro pranks videos. By the way, my wife and i are planning buy our first car.
no brand wars but for me go for toyota for reliability and easy maintenance if just in case lang ha if something breaks in the car it will be easy i maintenance toyota. for me im not looking a face or features.just look at the reliable on the road. and I really look a the safety features.yeah. but in reality masmarami parin gumatamit ng vios ngayon you can see that he is still ahead of everyone.sya parin nangunguna. pero love toyota and honda user here. and i thank you...
Maganda lang vios pag naka set up tyaka vios hindi matulin tutulin lang pag kakargahan mo makina honda matulin na talaga kahit di mo na i set up pogi na facts yan
..i'll still go for the vios, dont set aside the following practical aspects: 1. Madaling hanapin at mura ang pyesa. 2. Subok na matatag 3. Hindi mabilis bumaba ang market value. Etc. Kayo na ang magdagdag. Hehe. I think im talking about all toyota cars na cguro..

The James Deakin cameo was unexpected... really. 😂😂 So nice for PH car reviewers to have a 'crossover' episode where the one takes over the other. Only Caco is worthy enough to handle James' tito-ness.
I'm using toyota car 6 years until now it's good condition in middle east always long drive in driving 90kilometer A day until now my maintainance only fuel and change oil every 5000 kilometers toyota quality #1 around word.
In Malaysia toyota vios came with full of safety suite like toyota safety sense, blind spot monitor, 3D 360 camera,LED headlights as standard, apple carplay and android auto
My family owns a Vios. The Vios is just like the Ginebra team in the PBA: there are many limitations, but many Filipinos still support it (based on Vios sales for many years now) :) Question: I watched several reviews comparing the Vios with Honda City (this one, Top Gear Ph, among others). The reviewers always favor the City, but how come significantly more Filipinos buy the Vios? Another comparison: Caco Tirona and Vince Pornelos favors the Nissan Navara over the Toyota Hilux, but more Filipinos buy the latter over the former. Just wondering...
I'll choose City RS. Mas classy design ng city rs. Looks like euro car and mas muscle datingan. More features PA and mas powerful engine at sure na mas mataas resale value pag tagal.
Those who doesn't appreciate the vios SOLELY because of "pang taxi" reason is purely ignorant or chose to be. There's a reason why and they probably know what it is. I agree though that the vios needs to catch up on some tech. As a driver, I think NVH is important as it rounds up the overall experience. Pang icing nlng yung techs. But better if it comes with (like the City). Safety features and maintenance costs are also a deal breaker in the long run. It's actually a tough/confusing choice. In the end, it all boils down to preference. I personally think money is well-spent on either.
Can you make a commentary video on the new Vios GR-S and the new things it has? I doubt it got any performance increase other than maybe brakes and tires? Would really love to see your guys' opinion on it.
I don’t like how the City is trying to be his big brother (civic) but man, i agree to this comparo! I would still choose the snazzy entertainment (android auto/carplay) than the old vios.
Kung willing naman kayo gumastos sa maintenance in the long run, then, go for Honda.
I got the 1.5 City S. Vios 1.3 na manual meron ako before pero mas matipid itong 1.5 na CVT. Magaan ang manibela at super fun to drive. Matulin at maganda suspension. Mas malamig nga lang aircon ng Vios.

For me when you say vios, you cannot disassociate it with taxi. No matter how top of the line the vios were talking about. So i'd pick to the city rs or maybe city base variant over the vios. (Nothing against our taxid and the hardworking taxi drivers)
Ano daw mas durable vios? Sorry but i will disagree we have both 2015 model vios and 2019 honda city. Mas madaling masira po ang vios mas mura lnga ang pyesa, but when it comes to durability it's the honda city. This is based on our own experience. Kaya namin binenta na rin vios namin. Wag mag-padala sa hype. Ang dami kasing marunong until they don't have first hand experience on both cars.
before watching the video i already who'll win lol but anyway as a vios driver i really appreciate its quiet ride and great handling (plus of course, reliability duh) BUT, if I had a chance, I''ll opt for the city, not to say that the vios is bad (just overpriced), also, the looks of the honda.... takes it all away.
Same I love the new Honda City RS because it has air vents in the back 2 12v sockets oohhh my favorite thing and a center arm rest but we dont have that yet

The RS looks better to me, like sporty and modern. But Toyota is known to be reliable. I’d still pick the Honda. I don’t hear that it breaks down often. And they still have older car models that still run today.
