I have had my 500ds.for a year down 18000 miles in a year love it no mechanical problems and no corsion had a cbx500x before the re is a far better bike u r welcome do a review on mine love it and I am a courier
That's great to hear Dean, the 500 is a really good ride. I wish they would roll them out more. Its all gone a bit quiet in the world of VOGE. Shipping issues I expect. Thanks for watching 👍🍻
I've had my Voge for just over a year now and have just under 6,000 miles on it. As my IAM biking neighbour says after trying it, "What is there not to like?!" I've solved the screen "problem" with an aftermarket Kappa product from Italy. Earlier this month I took it for a trip round North Spain and Portugal clocking up about 2,000 miles. And, as one of those first 30 sold here, I got the free luggage - which has proved to be pretty good. I bought a pair of Kriega KS40 travel bags to pop in the panniers and that worked well too. As Exeter Rider says, the build quality is very, very good and it is really a joy to ride. Oh, and it will appeal to oldies too who want to downsize to something more physically manageable - at 76 it's done that for me. Try not to pre-judge its Chinese origins - when I started riding 60 years ago people did that with Japanese bikes, and they were wrong too. Give it a go and have fun!
Thanks Keith ...yes it is awesome...I hope it does well...it really is a good bike...My only concern is that they have gone a bi quiet at the moment so i hope they are still going to sell them over here....i really like the bike. I'd have one any day!
Great review, and what a bike for the money, really like the dash and design and it looks like it'll stand side by side with any Japanese equivalent for double the price 👍
Great Review. I looked at the bike at Treens in Exeter and you are right it is a cracking bike, well built, great spec and great price. The day I saw it, it was prepped and ready for collection by the Lucy guy who bought it.
Hi mate, yes. I used to work down your end alot years ago, still amazed me riding through and no traffic there. 20 years ago I would have had to filter through there👍
I have got one as a replacement for my 16 plate hondacb500x i really love it handles better stops better more stable and got more grunt and very comfortable and the build quality is good got an issue with condensation in the head light which is being sorted out under warranty and the service intervals are not as good as the Honda
Have you still got the VOGE Will? How are you getting on with it? would you be interested in me making a short video with us chatting about your experience so far?
Definitely a good looking bike!! Hopefully it stands the test of time. Because if it does, at that price point, it will be a real good option for people to either move up or get on a bike period. Great review Exeter!! Really well made video!!
Great review 👌 Just got mine today after watching your review...rode 100 miles home from the dealer....what an impressive bike this is...the dealer had last years model just one in stock, £4999 with the luggage kit, what a bargain...descent tech with bluetooth ABS & Tyre pressure monitor for all that money, plenty of power .do feel some vibrations around 70 mph , of course can't expect the same refinement as the Honda's or Japanese brands...and it sounds very good too. Much better sounding than the CB500X
I own a kawasaki z1000 and I check the market for a GS or a Multistrada. But I found a Voge DS 500 2020 model brand new for 4800 euro!!What a crazy value for money! The bike has kayaba suspensions, nissin brakes with 2 discs, abs Bosch, led lights, lovely tft screen, good build quality.I will pick her up next week :)
Hi , it hits that price point , the VOGE looks the part and time will tell , very Benelli looking and I was talking to an owner of a second hand bike shop and even he said he has sold two second hand Benelli after doing some checking on forums and has no problems . Another I saw on you tube was a Bristol 500 with a bit of Fantic in the way of covers and a single swing arm . Thanks for the video and keep it up . take care and ride safe .
Great review again,,and I do think you are in love with this bike ,,if it wasn't for cfmoto 700clx I would probably have gone for the vogue,,keep up your good work
Yes I did like it, and how it fits well. Not enough to change from the NC but it was alot of good things about it. I want to try a long term loan of a CLX but none is answering my mails or contacting me so that's the end of that! Enjoy your bike mate. I've heard good things about them.
I reckon it proberly will. I hope they can pull it off though. The 650 market is tough to crack... Having said that so is the 500 market, and they did well there 👍👍👍🍻
Hello ER, for the price point and how y’all have riding through normal average daily use the bike seems to be performing well. As for off road use, buy an off road bike, this is a commuter bike get me to work and weekend outings. I’d say it’s a good buy for the buck.
Good question, I think not and the market will just change and adapt. If anything there will just be upgraded bikes from others to get ahead of the game again is my guess. It all pends on VOGE becoming a strong brand and a brand that will be here 1,2 ,3 4,5 years down the line. That is the key. The Bennelli 502 is huge in Europe because it really is a good bike but over here it has taken time to get traction. Shame when the bike is good but it's a uphill struggle in the UK due to how they used to be.
Good thorough review as always, ER. I guess this goes up against the CB 500X? I'm sure the Chinese will take over soon. Specs are great and price is keen. What's the dealership and support network like?
Thanks, Dealership/support network is good because it's linked with Lexmoto , so all of those dealers will be dealing with them. VOGE are popular in many other countries but only just launching here. Parts is key but Chinese parts online seem to be stocking up already and they have another container of parts on their way. Thanks bud🙂
Yes I'd like to take part in that too. I have ridden the 502c. I'm a fan of that engine but the Voge engine is more lively, and alot lighter than the TRK. Good Idea though. 👍💡
@@exeterrider trk is very beautiful with the best sound of the category. But heavy and cheap build quality. Also she is not nimble like the DS she doesn't has tft dash and costs 1000 euro more in Greece and Germany. So,ds anyday
Hopefully reviewing this myself next week ...the engine is the proven ke500 unit ..it's exactly the same size 471 cc and looks the same engine as the cb500x ...I wonder if it's the same engine or just a good copy ? Cheers mark pulling
Hi Mark, no it is different, but looks the same and has the same figures etc. How long have you got it for. I really liked it, as did my camera man considering its cost its a good bike. Stay in contact mate, I'll be watching your vid👍🍻
@@exeterrider hi ... thanks ...ok so it's a close copy then ..I'll only have it for a few hours ,bike shop in Southampton ,I'm looking forward to it ,had a trk502 for 3000 miles ,no problems at all with that ,but quite heavy rode well though I'm looking forward to the lighter more sprightly voge ... cheers MP
Many have then from ooutside the UK and some have 10k on them and are very pleased. It's all gone a bit quiet in the UK though. Politics have come into it.
Is it reliable long term? Im gonna test this bike in a few days, my biggest concern is alot of repairs after the warranty period ends. Also, what is the service intervals period? Thanks!
every 3k for servicing...I know of other countrys people have had them and said they have had no problems even after 10k....But will they gain traction in the UK is quite something else, and I'm not sure they will in the current climate : (
Looks a great cb500x clone. They have put a lot of thought into it. Everything just beats the cb500x such as twin discs, upside-down forks. Etc. The engine looks almost identical. Is it bucket and shim or good old spanner adjustable.
It kind of looks like the luggage box on the sides can be opened both ways.. either from the bank and lift the top towards the front or the other way. It looks like hinges on both sides. Are that right ?
Is it buzzy in the footpegs or the hands? How does the fuel economy compare with the CB500X? The wheel bearings on the CB500X are over the counter no preprietery and cheap. Are these also? The actual on road weight would have been nice to have as well.
Yes understandable, the weight is 188kg which I somehow forgot to put in. Chinese parts online sell the bearings for about £20 so much cheaper than Honda generally speaking . I believe they have a 2 day delivery but do bear in mind that ALL manufactures are struggling to get parts at the moment. But they are aiming to fully stock all parts in time. Fuel economy seemed to be roughly the same as the 500x. Checkout this parts link here www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk/search.php?manufacturer=Voge&model=LX500-J-E5&name=500DS+Euro+5&year=All+Years&pagesize=15&pageno=1
@@exeterrider I am from Australia. No Loncin/Voge distributor here ( and with current Aus/ Chinese relations not likjely until after they invade) . I have been following Voge as they have a Emotorcycle that I have an interest in , the ER10. If that's what it ends up being called.
Great review. Went to my local dealer to organise a test ride and they said they weren't putting a demonstrator on any time soon. Really disappointing as all going well with the ride I would of signed there and then, bit of an own goal I think 🤷🏻♂️
@@exeterrider thanks for that, I'm in glasgow and pretty sure they are the only one near, Although there is a lexmoto dealer in Edinburgh 🤔🤔 Weirdly when you go on the vogue UK website they don't show any in Scotland
Good video. And i think cracking bike. But phoned 3 places near me have none in. Also they wasnt even sure on parts yes its new. But would like to test ride one. Hope they do well. They maybe more after market parts for it like a different screen and stuff. :)
Yes, supply on every brand is tough at the moment. These are very new and only got the showrooms a few weeks back. The 2 I know of sold instantly, and the lucky buggers got the boxes as well which are amazing. Keep trying but they are selling as soon as they hit the showroom sadly. 👍
@@exeterrider yes, but this is a big issue and someone who has interest of giving this bike a test ride, now he won't because of this. It's defamation. I think the most proper think to do, is to erase this part (RU-vid edit)
@@exeterrider only for this reason i prefer to pay 1000£ more for a smoother bike like cb500x. you'll probably get that extra money back when you sell the Japanese bike. However, if you want to spend little money, the voge bike does not seem a bad option
Yes I think your proberly right. The Voge is nicer to ride though, and more lively. But yes the 500x will probably hold its money. All depends if Voge take off I guess.
You have become completely infatuated with this bike and have been since Darth Vader left it at your door! Which of your present bikes are you going to sell so you can buy one of these wonder-bikes? The Honda, the BMW? And when did pretty on the outside tell anything about the internal engineering. Lipstick on a pig is still a pig. The first time you break a 50P value internal part and can't replace it from anywhere on the planet will be a change of mind.
I like it to ride, and so do the 3 other very experienced skeptical riders who rode it. Nothing more I can say on that. CPO are getting some good stock in of spare parts. They know what they need to do and its happening.. I hope it works out for them. It is a good bike to ride. I hope they can make it work. I dont understand the darth vader bit but OK. And yes internal engineering I can only feel through gear changes and fuelling, general feel and look. So far all that checked out very well.
@@stevepalmer5670 because the majority are really nice good people. The papers tell you about the others, but I remember what's behind all that aswell. Same as any other place like the UK.
I have just discovered these bikes today on you tube and they look very interesting. The thing that would worry me is how I would be looked after if I bought one. My nearest dealer for voge is ten miles away which is no problem, but I would always wonder how long the dealer would hold the franchise for. He had the Benelli Franchise for a while but no longer does. This happened with the car that I bought locally where the franchise was taken away so that now the nearest franchised dealer is thirty miles away. The Suzuki motorcycle franchise has been in my village since about 1976, so I'll feel a lot more assured for buying locally a brand that has been here for 46 years.
Yes I know exactly what you mean, I would feel the same. One thing I can tell you is that the people I know at VOGE are very forward thinking and Jane big plans for dealership network. I think anything is a shout in the dark a bit these days. Let me know what happens, fill review coming soon 👍
That's where these type of bikes win. They find where others are lacking and fill the spot. I hope Voge can get established if they are knocking out bikes like this. 👍🍻
Hello Exeter rider, re your querie about mcn review about the voge 500 & Honda 500, if you buy this month's edition of ride magazine .Inside the packaging you will find a free copy of Mcn with said article about these bikes test ridden. Hope this helps.
Hi Gary, it did help Thanks ....However I bought a online copy today and it seems even though they have taken my 2 quid , I haven't recieved the digital online magazine. And thats after going to Sainsburys to pick up a hardcopy only to find they ran out! Is there any chance you could take a photo of each page and send it to me at exeterrider@hotmail.com ??
Does it really do 123mpg? 9.19 litres to 250 miles. Ooops, calculated this from your comments at the petrol pump before I saw the bike's own record on the dash - which equals to 71mpg - the same as my V-Strom.
looks good ,, has its own style [ just ] sounds very good , for a budget twin ,. chinese bikes have been biggest sellers since 1980,;;; but only when you are prepared to pay a decent price [ like this one ] .are they worth it ... i hope parts and service are up to par = as i would be like most and take a punt on this one and blindly risk it ....also if this has a better fueling system than the honda nc750 .. that is a major plus .. but the main thing is = this bike seems to be a bit exciting and you had fun on it ,,= this review saying its fun will no doubt help voge , so i hope they give you [ex r ] some bonus ,like a long term loan or similar ..
@@exeterrider thanks for reply ,, i rarely recommend these type of bikes , but they are a big market share and i think your review shows how a commuter budget [ish] bike that is this good should be given a chance as it does a good all round job and is still fun ..
@@exeterrider yes , i am afraid the sinnis 380 does not have many admirers, overshadowed by the voge = which seems to be sold out ,, o dear , what do we have to do to get a perfect world ??? , if its any good its gone , just like limited malt whisky;;
Looks good goes' well and it competitively priced what's not to like it would be great to see an 800 come out in the same style more power to the Chinese for taking it to the extortionately priced other makes . : )
Yes I take donations, o I see👆😄yes not a night goes by where I don't think of this bike. If I knew you liked it that much I would have set a trip up for us, and a chitty chat again.
@@CuriousGoose OK, I am fighting time a bit and feel bad we can't do what we did before and you would have to travel. I'll let you know Friday. Also I wouldn't rant to go too far on the 380. Its not a dual carriageway bike really 🤔🙄
I have been asked by many about parts for the VOGE 500DS , which also was one of my concerns while researching. Please understand that the link I am giving you does have stock of many of the parts but EVERY manufacturer is struggling with shipping at the moment. Bear in mind that the VOGE 500DS has only just launched, but they do have stock of a lot of the items and aim to get a container over the Brexit waters to get more stock through as soon as they can. Having said that they still seem to have some stock parts in already . That's great Dean, it's an awesome bike. Not sure what VOGE uk are doing but they don't seem to be pushing them so much these days. Shipping issues perhaps. They certainly have a good product to sell there.
