2021 Yamaha R1M First Ride & Review!!! 

So excited that we finally had a semi decent day of weather so I could get out and ride the new R1M for the first time! Overall its a very good bike. I do hate that you can't hear the sound of the engine but I think once we put a full titanium exhaust on this its going to be a blast to ride. Beautiful R1M! I have a 19 R1M and couldn't agree with you more about the brakes. Can't wait to see the upgrades you do to this beast.

If funds are limited, first upgrade should always be steel-braided brake lines. It's not expensive to do and you get immediate benefits - night and day difference.

This needs to be the 1st CC bike with underglow. A blue would match great. Love the vids and cant wait to see you and teens riding together.

We got 3 nice days in a row here in NC 65-68 degrees and I took advantage of each one.....and yes I'm rubbing it in LOL. I do agree with you on the 3 cylinder crossplane has an awesome exhaust note.

R1 is the best bike for the money, the harder u push the bike the better it feels, specially at triple digit speeds, when it comes to brakes, yes they r not that powerful but they r not grabby like brembos, the bike looks and sounds incredible, there is a reason for which r1’s r the most common bikes u see at the track, great value all in all, u can actually keep up with any 1000cc bike at the track or the street and I emphasize any bike✌🏻

Sup Jaret 👊🏻 this R1M is definitely in my top 3 motorcycle’s for sound. Once you install an exhaust system it’s going to feel like a completely different bike. My top 3 sounding motorcycle’s are 1 Aprilia RSV4 2 Yamaha R1 3 Triumph Daytona 675R/765

You cant change the modes while riding (A,B,C,D), but you can change the power mode (1,2,3,4) while riding. Push the mode button until “power” is highlighted then let off throttle and push the up and down arrows

Brakes don't automatically bed in, there is a specific bed in process you should do before even breaking the engine in.

Can’t wait to see the Campisi R1M Custom it is a very good Motorcycle I did have the opportunity to ride one not long ago by the way you know I had to give you the California weather update it will be 85° today I have to get my ride in before the Super Bowl starts it’s a good thing you’re not in Cali today the traffic is really crazy stay warm and be safe👍👍

With my 2015 R1M i did not like how light the front end felt / stock brakes / fuel consumption / best sounding motor / easy to work on / the best dash among the bikes i rode i am sure when your team is done upgrading & moding this besuty it will be like no other

Your opinions about low revs is exactly my experience when I bought my Aprilia Mille. It just makes som much sense on the street. Only bad thing is that you eat up tires faster😅

I just got the R1 2022 moto gp anniversary edition the bike is awesome no manufacturer of big litre sports bike make a bad bike they are all amazing it’s just what floats your boat in choice the stock exhaust sounds pretty good. it does not stop u going 180mph let’s face it most of you never going to ride this bike like your in the isle of man race not sure u need to make this bike even faster lol but if you want a cool system SC project exhaust is awesome

Akrapovic exhaust sounds best on that bike! Can’t wait to hear it once you slap something on it.

Those mirrors are really cool. No idea how you guys dont use them...i use them all the time for lane changes. Lookin forward to the new exhaust. Its gonna enhance that cross plane motor like no other!

Response of brakes and cornering depends of driving mode...but also can be adjusted for any mode individually...great bike!

Hi Jaret. On MT-09 2021 you can change the modes while riding, but the gas must be fully closed. Brakes definitely need break in on 09, it took me some time with hard braking to make them really "work".

Sweet bike. Probably the best sounding bike with an exhaust. I have Nissin brakes on my bike and they did need a break in period. They got much better

Instal racing exhaust on r1 = +20hp and reduce 20kg weight is guarranted.

Engine sound is mega! I have a 2020 R1 with full akra, just leave it in powermode A always 😎

@Jaret Campisi So you have like 2 months of snow? 🤯. My V2 has been sleeping in the garage since end of october. I can legally ride it statting march 15th, that is if the weather and road conditions are good 😩. Montreal area 😅. It's 1F here today with snow. Can't wait for sring either.

New exhaust asap

Seems You have to upgrade the brakes. I suggest You go with Brembo GP4RX calipers in front, Brembo full floating disc rotors, Brembo RCS19 Corsa Corta brake master, and fully braided brake hose for even better braking experience for the front side. I had a friend here's who replaced the bike brake components, and the braking performance has drastically changed to be so much better. Since the bike is so powerful, and it does need a powerful brake components as well. Cheers from Indonesia....

Funny hearing you say how extreme the seating position is on the R1… I went to the London ExCel motorcycle sow on Sunday. Comparing different models back to back, the new 2022 Fireblade is really extreme, the R1 is almost comfortable compared to that!! Looking forward to the rest of the build over the coming weeks and roll on the decent weather here in the UK and over there by the looks of things😎

Where is the snow, i live in the Netherlands and over the past 4 months it is just sh*t weather (raining). You had snow and now it seems almost like summer 🤷‍♂️🤔 But great bike and as always a nice video!!!

Yea, i agree about high revs in engine. For everyday is better engine with low revs and a lot torque.. ducati..

FYI, Nissin brakes are excellent! They're from Japan and they make brakes for cars too. Some bikes from Yamaha really need braided steel brake lines. With the stock rubber lines, it feels too spongy.

I thought I was the only one that thought the brakes were absolute trash…they get better as you seat the pads but I think we’re just spoiled by the brembos on he Ducati’s 😆 exhaust was the BIGGEST game changer…tbh I didn’t fall in love with the bike until I took the stock one off. Gives the bike such an aggressive personality! Good video Jaret! Looking forward to seeing everything else you do 🤘🏾

For the next build after the r1m you should do an mt10, and put r1 go fast parts on it.

The unique thing about the crossplane R1, is that even tho its a long geared bike, it doesn't feel that way at low revs, because the torque is surreal, even tho the top speed is inferior than Ducatis and Bmws. Just wait untill you fit in the akrapovic. I know cause i have one.

You should collab with Moore Mafia to get the ECU flashed on it once you get the exhaust put on and an air filter. They did a 2021 non-M R1 and took it from 166 hp to 181 hp with a slip-on exhaust and stock air filter. You do a nice full exhaust and a sprint air filter I bet they could smack 185 hp out of it at the wheel easy.

Ring it’s next during break in, Carbon built up destroys more R1 engines than anything, the bike it’s built for it so go for it

My fav litre bike will always be the gsxr 1000 but for track days, it has to be the R1.

You can press the mode button and switch to power mode and release throttle lever, then you can change power mode ..

Front calipers are Advics not Nissin...Nissin is just pump...you can take brembo pump rcs 17 or 19 but even that for your casual ride is throwing the money...

I’ve been a dirtbike guy my whole life and just now starting to get into motorcycles as far as the street goes. But my question was with the quick shift or whatever why would you not use the clutch to change gears or do you have to at all?
