Hi Ron: Don Saito, here. I'm the guy who launched (and landed) before you that day, and at 08:10 you can see my glider straight ahead, just before you land. I found your video very interesting because of all the data you've included (speed, distance, G's, altitude, compass direction, flight path) not to mention the clear video - nice. Thanks again for the beer!

The camera's actually an 8-year-old device that Garmin doesn't make anymore. I'm building my own hardware to replace the telemetry. Hopefully, the next time I fly, I'll have it running.

You seem to be beating yourself up over not flying longer. You said it yourself - two paragliders launched 30 minutes ago and sank out and nothing's changed. Also we can see the thick cloud deck shutting down the ground heating. No surprise the thermals are sparse and weak. I think you did as well as can be expected in this kind of crappy day. Excellent landing too.

Where is this? Your launch site is awesome. +8K MSL! I took off from a small ridge yesterday about 1400 MSL and got to 6K yesterday.

It's in the title: Slide Mountain (in western Nevada) which is located just east of the northern end of Lake Tahoe. When you can get high enough, you can see Lake Tahoe over the mountains behind launch. Mt. Rose is seen just north of Slide, and is a fairly well-known skiing resort (Slide is also a ski resort, just not as well-known.)
