This is our 1st drive with the all new Kia Niro. Please smash the "LIKE BUTTON" if you are a Kia Niro fan, if not, let me know which one is your favorite hybrid SUV in the comment section! Thank you.
Im relieved you can get a matching C pillar. The contrasting one would be a dealbreaker for me. Im anxious to compare this to the Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid when they both come to the USA.
I was going to buy a corolla cross hybrid, I live in Australia, had my name down for one and a deposit paid I currently own a Corolla hybrid ZR and the corolla cross does not give you all the features my corolla has. This Niro has a lot more features then my Corolla ZR 21 model. I am purchasing this car, I love cars learn heaps about them the kia Niro IMHO is the better car then the corolla cross. I wanted to buy the Atmos model in the green color but they said no can buy the GXL I did not want the GXL why would I trade my car for a car with less features. This car the Niro Hybrid GT does have much more to offer
The Niro PHEV is very popular here in Sweden. I never liked the design of the previous version but this…wow, so much better both exterior and interior. The back end design is a little ”Volvoish” in a good way. I almost want one for myself and Im a Mercedes guy…
I don't think it actually has a 360 camera. If you watch this POV video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hW8LdZn_cv8.html), you can see that when the driver puts the car in reverse, the back-up camera pops up on the screen, and when the driver puts it in drive, the screen still shows the back-up camera. Those of us who own Kia/Hyundai products with a 360 camera know that when you select "drive", you get a front camera view on the screen. Also, if you scrutinize all the various walk-around videos, there's no characteristic camera "bump" on the bottom of the side mirrors, nor is there a camera in the front grille. (Granted, they could use the camera in the top of the windscreen, but that wouldn't blend well with a 360 camera system.) All that being said, the walk-around videos do seem to show the presence of front ultrasonic sensors, and the wedges in front of the car on the camera screen hint that it may have front parking sensors. Edit: Another POV video demonstrates the RSPA function, which also implies a front parking sensor (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hbv3Kt2dATw.html).
Looks to be a nice car Charlie. I prefer the colour matched C pillar, but I do not like the rear indicators being positioned so low, but this is Kia style.
Yes, me, too, Ken. But if you want something special, you can get it with contrasting C-pillar. Thanks for enjoying the 1st drive with the all new Kia Niro.
I love the size and room of my 2006 Kia spectra 5 but probably need an upgrade soon. I like the look and tech of this new Niro and just little bit larger than the spectra 5, hopefully its not too expensive on pricing when it comes to the US.
Every feature that you pointed out is controversial to others is a feature that I love and think gives the vehicle a great personality and appeal. Thanks for your review. Looking forward to future coverage.
Thank you for showing the other models with the matching c-pillar color. It makes the car look much better than the contrasting ones. That white one with the matching c-pillar doesn't look bad at all.
Looking forward to the EV version later this year hopefully you'll review it in full at that time as well. You should test the lane keep assist similar to Bjorn to find out what happens say if the driver passes out for any reason, does it just switch off which is dangerous or is it smart like Mercedes as Bjorn has just proven on the EQA which keeps the car in the lane and safely and slows the car down. Is the Apple Carplay/Android Auto wireless as Kia said it would be? Is there less piano black in the new facelift edition, hoping so?
Thank you for taking the time to show us the 2022 Kia Niro. The cockpit/drivers area looks very much like the new Kia EV6. The rear tail lights remind me of those on a Honda CR-V. Overall, I very much like the new look. I may even trade in my Honda Accord for this.
Ordered a 2023 Kia Niro EV today, looks s much better than the previous model. And the specs are definitely better value for the money compared to the EV6.
Wow, congratulations on your new order. Yes, this 2022 all new Kia Niro looks miles better. And here is our 2 day long efficiency test with new Kia Niro. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L6Gu1KBZh-g.html
I'm really enjoying your reviews! Great job! One quick question for you as an expert: what do you think the battery size / range could be for the pure electric variant? I think Kia won't want to challenge their own EV6 on specs, so I wonder what your thoughts would be on that.
This is a hybrid, so the battery size is really small compared to something like EV6. But since this is hybrid, you don't have to think about range anxiety. So, you should think about according to your life style. Thank you for enjoying the Kia Niro review.
@@AsianPetrolhead I think he meant what you think the battery size and range will be for the 100% EV Niro that's also coming, not this hybrid version :)
Happy New Year Charlie, thank you so much for showing us the new Kia Niro. I must say the suspension sounds quite crashy and loud? I like the dual use paddles and how it recognises green zones.
Nice car I had the old hybrid model very reliable and great quality the brake pads and disk 💿 service at 130 000 miles no joke best car for money. Next for me is Niro full electric red interior yes you can choose the interior color 👍
Very handsome exterior especially withe body colour C pillar. On the all white model I liked the way the rear lights are highlighted on the side profile. Great looking interior and I'm glad they integrated the infotainment into the complete dashboard. I also like that thick padded steering wheel. Looks really comfortable. Also glad they didn't make a tiny engine to the hybrid system
Very nice car. It will be on the shopping list when it arrives on my shore. I don't mind the new design of the rear pillar but it has to be the original colour.
I would like to see the contrasting C Pillar as an option in colours... Not just black. So it could look a bit funky.... (orange, red etc). Looking forward to the new eNero.
Would you please consider adding some main differences between trims? As far as I know there are 3 right ? Would you please also add what 2023 model prices are comparing to old Niro. Ps. Very nice and complex review.
@@AsianPetrolhead Yes, can see Kia is introducing something new in most of their cars nowadays and still giving out option to choose and yeah why not..☺️
Hey Charlie, have you ever been asked for a collab with Fully Charged? You'd offer a fantastic Korean insight to the development of EV transportation from a country that is the envy of many around the world! Keep up the great work Charlie! 👍
Wish Hyundai/Kia would move away from Piano Black from all their vehicles. It appears luxurious but after 1 week, dust is visible and is a scratch magnet. Matte surfaces FTW!
Since it sounded an alert and had a visible red alert on the side mirror when the turn indicator was used, it seems that the car DOES have blind spot monitoring. Perhaps it just doesn’t put the alert up on the mirror if the turn indicator isn’t touched, like most cars do. I suspect that there’s an option in settings to change that.
Well, it does the blind spot alert system, (yellow + sound alert on the side mirror), but it does not have blind spot monitoring system (showing the blind sport image on the gauge cluster). Thank you for enjoying the New Kia Niro review.
It's look like very nice but u never speak about its fuel consumption (around 4l/100km). And i really never unterstand why they put flashers and some lights on the bumper!!! No make sens for me. Thanks 4 ur vidéo and happy new year Charlie.
Thank you P. Yes, i will check the efficiency when we get this all new Kia Niro as a press car. Yes, love to have the turn signal integrated into taillamp system. Thanks. P.
No one does reviews as concise and complete as yourself. My go to channel if I need more info on a car. As for the Niro, it seems like a very good small suv complete with all bells and whistles. However personally, I don't quite like the front and rear light clusters. It would be nice if they can streamline them like the Germans/Audi etc. Never been a fan of the aquarium type front light clusters. The rear bumper styled turn signals / reverse lights are no good too as they are harder to notice by taller vehicles moreover, prone to quick damage in an accident. Hope, Kia will update its designs in time to come and move away from clunky designs. Other then that car looks nice.
I like this. I like how it looks without the two tone, IMO better than the 1st gen. I wonder if they will make a 2nd gen Ioniq Hybrid on this platform 🤔
Thanks always for showing all these great korean cars. I'm trying to get a Tuscon PHEV but they're all over msrp here in the US. Do you know any places in Orange County/LA with good pricing?
Seats are comfortable. I should say supportive. We went for a long range review with the all new Kia Niro, so check this out, too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L6Gu1KBZh-g.html
I love the 2 spoke steering wheels. They are soo much more comfortable, they let you hold the steering wheel at the bottom easier which is much better for your back and shoulders. I also prefer the look
I am chas Changing my kia next year from the proceed to either the new sportage or this new Niro...can't wait to test drive both but this video is making me indecisive as I love both cars. Going to be difficult to choose as they are both stunning 😍
Envy you so much for having Kia Proceed. We don't have Proceed here in KOrea. Yes, many are comparing the Kia Sportage against Kia Niro. If you want more power, then you should go with Kia Sportage, better efficiency, then you should go with Kia Niro. Thank you Cuelin!
I'm glad its a normal hybrid and not useless MHEV. I know PHEV is also optional but imo the best solution is just a normal hybrid system like in Toyotas.
Love your reviews and we actually leased a 2020 Niro Hybrid Touring SE here based on the first video I watched on you tube which happened to be yours a year or so ago. We love it and like the updates Kia has done to this new model. Do not like the contrast rear panel and also noticed there is no longer a small side window behind the rear doors which looks like it creates more of a blind spot. Can't wait to see them in person, wonder when they are debuting? Cheers
Wow, gad i can be helpful choosing your car. Yes, I would choose the new Kia Niro with the body color matching c-pillar. I am not sure, but hope you guys get this new Kia Niro soon in your area! Thanks rbielarski.
Hi Charlie. Another great video. I prefer the color match. I wish Kia had more color choices. Also, I don't care for the back signal lamps being low. What trim level was this supposed? Have a great day. Roger
It looks nice compared to my 2019 Kia Niro plug in. What I don't like about mine is the hesitation when you accelerate from a stop in electric mode. I hope they improved that. I think I'll wait for the new Sportage which I thinks looks much nicer. I need to replace my 2012. Nice Video Charlie -
YES! I’ve been looking for a super practical small hybrid with a hatch that isn’t a Prius. This is a small suv but close enough for me, especially since I won’t be driving a hybrid very hard. My previous car I had my sights set on was a Toyota Avalon, even if it isn’t super practical with a sedan trunk. Can’t wait for these to be released here in America☺️ (also note: I live in hot climate so ventilated seats are a must too)
Thanks alot Iam really enjoying your video’s Let me ask you if you don’t mind do we have a full leather because I order one but they told me there no full leather like old Niro?
I look forward to the arrival of the new Niro here in northern Europe. For sure, it's not the most beautiful car in the world, but it has good and sensible features. When will the full electric version come?
I'm not a big fan at all of body cladding, so the contrasting C-pillar is for me a kind of body cladding metastasis . At least, we can say that they try something different .
Very good videos! Congrats! Regarding the new Niro, I like the dark colors with same colors for C-pilar, but lighter colors as white, I believe looks better in 2 tone. Very disappointed they moved the back camera in a very dirty position. Before you could use a CamWipe, now you cannot :(
The contrasting pillar does not bother me but I'm concerned by the air flow underneath it. That will attract bugs and dirt and I'm afraid it might be noisy. Why would that be needed? To cool the LED bumerang lights?
Just ordered this exact model in Runway red. It's for my wife i think she's going to be made up. We were going to have a CHR but we were told they weren't taking orders at the moment, cars were being waited on and we would have been at the back of the que. Also looked at the Mitsubishi Eclipse, compared to the Niro there was no contest. What you get for your money is superb. A lot of car and a lot of after service. Kia are knocking it out of the park at present. Can't wait to pick it up in 2 weeks. I'm in the UK. Your review would have sold me one anyway lol.
hello from Germany good presentation, i like it. Like your first presentation of the new Niro at the Seoul Motor Show. Gives a good idea of the new car that here in Europe no one has seen yet. I personally am interested in the new plugin hybrid. But I think that except for the electric range and maybe trunk space will be no difference to the HEV shown here. I do have a few questions though: What is the towing capacity and tongue load of the new Niro? Nice car, my hottest candidate for a new purchase in 2022.
Wish Kia would adopt thinner bezels for the screens. All the empty space triggers me. Also, not enough ambient lighting. It looks like they threw it in at the last minute. No thought into it at all.
This is a really sharp design. I like the different colour pillar. Just make the colour close to the main colour. eg dark grey with a dark blue that just a little lighter than the grey. How does the size of this car compare to the Ioniq 5 Charlie?
Overall I like the new look, the steering wheel looked better than from some photos I’d seen. I also like the updated dash and the wheels. The rear tail lights look too low down IMO but other than that…👍. I hope the sound system is improved, I find it a little too bright and not enough midrange and bass, I have a Niro HEV 3, so when I come to trade in, I’ll be looking at this in a about 5 years when I can afford a used one.
It really doesn't have the blind spot monitor in the display like other models of Kia, Hyundai and Genesis? I would have liked them to position the rear turn signals higher up, level with the brake lights. 13:40 Are those LEDs lights optional? Because before I saw conventional turning signal bulbs at the rear.
Can you tell me how you experienced the seats? I like the model, the outside as well as the inside. In Holland we are not yet able to see and feel the car in real life.
Well, I drove the car for long time doing range test (please refer to this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L6Gu1KBZh-g.html) and it felt comfortable.
I’m glad I got the 2022 Kia Niro Hybrid in the Steel Grey color. The newer model seems like it was half planned and they took certain features away which is kind of offsetting for some people. But let’s see how they sell 👍🏻
the sun roof seems to be too small . why could not it make it bigger to let in more light into the care .also why there is no info about battery and milage range .
Hey Is looks better that Sportage I like much more now nice please more more videos from Niro test all engine's lest see with is top stability test corner and sound noise check and white color with body matching
In city traffic, if you abuse it, you can feel the DCT. But if you just drive normally, it's not bothersome. Thank you for enjoying the Kia Niro review.
