The Instax gives the printed picture a very vintage look, the kodak gives them a more realistic vibe while the canon ivy printer makes the printed pictures appear from the dark-academia aesthetic colour palette ✨ thank you, helps a lot in deciding which to buy with this side by side comparison
@@MikeMikeYT I had bought the kodak one and it barely worked most of the time, the app for it was really bad, and so I had it returned so I wouldn't recommend it
This video review caught my attention from beginning to end and I really enjoyed the comfy vibe. I also didn't expect for there to be a water test which is something I think many reviewers overlook for the durability of a photo. At the time of this post, I have a Canon Ivy printer and seeing that made me want to switch immediately haha. Thank you for your time making and sharing this!
Instax is bad. And mini Evo...I retuned it. The digital camera is so bad. Photos taken with a smartphone and then printed are better. So useless 2 in one. Just buy the Kodak.
Thank you for the awesome review! I'm definitely with the Kodak. Biggest reason is due to the photo price. Instax film costs $1 per photo and Kodak is about 30 cents ($0.3). I do agree the Instax gives a more vintage look, but in my opinion, photo quality and price per photo is the biggest factor in choosing a photo printer & polaroid camera. Thus, I'm sticking with Kodak.
I’ve owned several instax minis and can tell you for a fact that color reproduction will vary between printers. I had a white one that printed everything very green and dull. But my blue one was warm and vibrant! So becareful. But overall I like them better cause of the quality of the film and the border makes it easier to handle. FYI the Heat transfer photos like the canon (or anything that uses zink) the photos fade really dramatically after some time. They don’t age very well. The instax film doesn’t seem to have that problem.
4PASS dye-sub (the Kodak products) also use heat transfers but it is completely different technology compared to ZINK. 4PASS technology has a lamination process and apparently the photos will last 100 years and it is also water resistant.
@@kexandramae3326 yes kodak is better than any of the zink printers. I think the Kodak's print has a little bit better resolution and more realistic image. BUT the printer takes longer to print, and have to say the paper/printer quality of the kodak's are not as robust. Two reasons: 1) Lots of bad reviews on the kodak printers breaking. 2) No borders and thinner paper make the prints less easy to handle without damage/wear.
Thank you for the review! I never realized there were so many options. I was initially thinking of investing on an instant camera (Fujifilm) but I found the prints so expensive. And then I watched the video to find that I can take pictures on my phone and then print them (which I thought wasn't a thing before)! Now I can even print old pictures on my phone!! Really helps to me make my scrap booking experience waaaay better (when I get started).
I also have several cameras and printers and the kodak is my favorite in terms of quality of the print. Instax has that vintage feeling and is nice a decoration in my wall. For journaling I choose the zynk paper. I use it for travel journals since 2017 and the prints are still the same, no fading if not exposed to the sun. So it all depends on the purpose 😊
ive been really thinking for a long time what portable photo printer to buy and with all the good reciew videos like yours somewhat helps me narrow my choices. thanks!
This was an amazing video that helped me to choose a photo printer to purchase! I had no photo printer experience so I had no idea what was the best value and the best looking printer, and there were so many different printing types! But after watching your video I ultimately decided on the Kodak Mini 3 Retro. Just made my first print today, and it was gorgeous! Exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you for helping my photo printer shopping experience be so smooth, and just for the calm and straightforward vibe of this video! Definitely will recommend for anyone looking for a photo printer 😁
Very helpful. I was looking at Fujifilm printer to match the brand of camera I use, and it looks great for the retro feel, but for my purpose, the edge less sticker sheets will be ideal so Canon it is 👍 (I didn’t even realize inkless color prints were even an option)
Hi! I have the Kodak printer and I’d just like to warn that it’s incredibly hard to find the cartridges for it now, so for that reason, as much as I love my printer, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Thank you for such a thorough review! It's definitely helping me decide on which printer to buy. I like that you included a water test, too! The comments are really helpful too lol. Thanks again!
Thanks for showing the difference! I already have a couple of the instax cameras myself, but have been looking at others, because I love the print features! I am so happy you showed the difference! I want the canon with sticker ones for journaling, but think I’ll also got with the Kodak mini shot 3 for size and quality. Love that my instax film is waterproof though! I found that out the hard way, before I had a separate printer. Lmao. This was so helpful though! Thank you!
Great review!! honestly, they all have their own pros n cons. This really helped me decide which one to invest on, but I’ll be happy to own any of them they all preform beautifully. Thank you so much!
what a nice video! I don't know that instax mini link and instax mini evo can produce different vibe, I thought since they're from the same brand (like Kodak mini 3 retro and mini shot 3) they wouldn't be this much different. the canon ivy one looks practical for crafty people, and a good collection to have. by far I love the kodak ones the most, the photo quality looks very good and the color looks vibrant. it's a shame the hybrid tipe wasn't as good as instax mini evo. thanks for making this video, hope you and your family always have a good day!
You know what? The water on the Canon printed photo got some artistic touches, I think! Such a good a idea make it on purpose, just to experiment creative ways to present a photo!
Hello! I have a polaroid Hi Print that uses almost the exact same cartridge as the two Kodaks (just smaller in size) and I might surprise you here by telling you they're stickers as well! (Verified by checking reviews of the Kodaks too :)) Instead of taking the border off (or leaving it on) to keep it like a regular picture, you can bend that perforated piece and get the picture off of it's backing, it's incredible for journaling! The picture used as a sticker should be thinner than the zink paper (also once had the Canon Ivy), so less bulk too! Thank you so much for the detailed video! I like the size of the Kodak better so I hope to get it in the future
I've been interested in film cameras for a while, but it's pretty intimidating to start it. The cost of film rolls, washing process, don't really know if the results will be good or not. The cost of washing film rolls is also pretty pricey in my country. This seems like a good alternative to start.
Instax Mini Link owner here, I love that printer but sometimes I wish it had a bit more of resolution in the prints. Not in the sense they aren't sharp, but I've noticed a few prints feel a bit "pixelated" sometimes, specially when there's stuff such as wires or thin lines in the photos. Not sure how it compares on the Evo, but something to keep eyes open for. The Kodak one works the same way their larger instant printers work, same ink style too. It's quite good, we had one of those printers in a lab I worked on in the past and the prints were amazing, almost on par with real (chemical-based) prints.
I'm sad about the ivy's water test, but when taking into account the dye-based crystal paper and the sticky back, I'm not surprised it didn't pass the water test?
The Jungkook pic caught me so off guard LOL!! whenever I see my boys in places that I’m NOT expecting them it always feels like my worlds are colliding 😂 I just bought myself the mini evo for Christmas and my sister the instax square link so I’m excited to start using them! Definitely gonna look into the canon ivy tho I love the idea of stickers
La canon ivy después del agua con esos colores sobre la foto se ve espectacular y diferente. Me gusta!! Yo la pegaría en mi maleta, por cada lugar que visite hasta llenarla 👍🏼
I found that some printers are able to print without using the app and you can just use the "print" function on iPhone with them, doesn't always work but sometimes it does. Also, a lot of times people sell these printers for dirt cheap in pawn shops, since a lot of people use them only once or they were a gift - a good way to save on them! My favorite is the Kodak printer though unfortunately while their photo cartridges are cheap they sometimes phase the old types out, which sucks. I had to get a newer model once because in my break between using it they stopped selling the film for these.
Doesn't it make a difference if you put the photos in the dark while they're developing?? From what i understand, they're super light-sensitive (at least the instax). Won't the quality be better if it's in the dark?? Pls tell me if i'm wrong or right
I watched the video a year ago and chose the Canon printer. Now I want something cheaper and might take the Kodak printer. This video is really helpful, thank you again! 🥰
hi have u tried the hp sprocket? what is your opinion of that? and as for the photos u printed in this video, which one would you say will last the longest in terms of years?
Thank you so much for this video! It is super helpful! Does the Kodak app allow you to make the prints look like a Polaroid too? It seems the best over all value. My second Canon SELPHY has quit on me, so I want to invest in something different this time.
I was planning on getting that one for my girlfriend so we can put out memories in a book but I’m trying to figure out how it works. Is there a way to refill it and if so how?
Very important that the picture will last, i take pictures for memories. Good thing liplay can let you edit the picture and instax films are awesome!!!
Hello. I’m encountering a problem with my canon ivy printer. When the picture is printed it seems to have some streaks and the lighting is ruined. Do you know how to fix this?
Use the blue paper included on the film pack. Insert the blue paper with the bar code together with the paper film. Then try print a photo, the printer will read the barcode on the blue paper and will clean the printer head. It reduces lines on the printed photo.
Hi, where did you buy the album for Photos coming from Kodak printer ? I couldn’t find one.. If you have the link, i would love to have it😁 Thanks for your video
They dont have the cartridges for the mini shot 3 retro anywhere, and I just bought this one based on this video 🤦♀️so be careful if you buy the retro mini shot 3 retro, no way to refill !
Thanks I ended up getting instax mini link 2 to print some photos for a birthday surprise, given I have previously used instax mini 11 camera it uses the same type of film. I really like it! If I had longer time to pick might have gotten the mini EVO
I like kodak printed quality but it doesnt give the vibes of instax.. im not sure the right term..like a normal picture but for fujifilm mini evo it's really good. I like it, i might prefer this one (: thanks for the review
Hello, do you think can I make notepads using those printers not stickers? I am sure if understanding it but you mentioned that the Canon ivy- sticker paper type film
by watching this video, i'd like to go with kodak!..but i'm hearing so many conflict reviews! how's it ya'll?? tell me your honest review about kodak! which one is the most reliable printer!?
I need your opinion bcs u have an experience using kodak, i saw other video they say sometimes the paper stuck during printing n it broke the whole cartridges. i wanna buy kodak but im worry it will cost me more.
Yes, it's true. Sometimes i got the cartridge error too. But it's not big deal for me because it can easily fix. I upload a video on how i fix mine. You can watch it if you're interested and maybe help you decide 😊😊
