Here it is, the slightly refreshed 2022 BMW X3 xDrive30i. With some minor cosmetic upgrades for the exterior and interior, the new X3 appears to be more upscale and sporty, especially with this model being equipped with the M Sport Package. In a market where rivals like the Mercedes Benz GLC and Audi Q5 are not too far behind, is the BMW X3 enough to continue being the best compact crossover in this segment? Let's find out!

Great car. I have the 2018 X3 30i M sport. All round best car on the road. 3 years on still love it. So smooth. Plenty of power. Plenty of space. Great safety features. Transmission unlike anything I’ve driven before! Too good. From Melbourne. Australia.

Just picked up my 2022 X3. It is a super smooth daily driver. If you want a sports car, or something more luxurious, go buy one. This is a phenomenal family vehicle with unsurpassed driving outputs.

100% agree that X3 is the best in this segment, the engine, ZF trans plus the sporty and luxury blend, it's almost perfect. The only thing is, I wish BWM upgrades its front struct suspension to be double wishbone or multi-link like its competitors.

You reviews always show the research you've done. They're detailed and presented well so that we in the audience can understand. IMHO, the Audi and MB cockpits are just a little too busy and distracting. And, I'm not a fan of DCTs that they both have, either. This fits the bill for me. Keep up the great work.

1. Does it have a remote start option yet? Out of marked starter costs $1500 2. What about ventilated seats? 3. Adaptive cruise control? I like driver engagement but would like to relax a bit on long drives.

The majority have remote start. Adaptive cruise control is rare for these cars. Ventilated seats I believe are only for M models.

Well, I own the M240i and I can tell you that the ZF automatic in "comfort mode" sucks. It's fast on upshifts but very slow on downshifts. And duplex clutch is still faster.

Top dog in this segment is Genesis GV 70. So gorgeous in person. X3 and GLC Q5 are not even close.

Really trying to help my wife decide between this and the RDX A-Spec. She currently has a 2018 x1 that we are getting rid of in November. It's fun to drive but too small. Drove a loaner x3 but it was too basic. Still on the fence. If I go BMW, I will lease for sure. If switch to Acura, I may finance as I do with Lexus.

The red seats on this sensatec interior look better than what I have seen in other BMW's (less bright red, almost a wine color). Is the color similar on the Vernasca leather version? Is this red a bit darker than other BMW red interiors, or is it just the camera? thanks!

Is that really the steering wheel that customers will get in US? Assuming it's part of M-Package for sure, but seem that not be the case in previous years. Audi does this annoyingly on the entire range until one gets into proper S/RS models you get same exact steering wheel from A3 to Q7

What disappoints me is that 2022 Audi Q3 offers a 360 view camera and this just offers a rear camera, I tried the US built option and didn’t seen a 360 view camera on it

What happened to your love for the new Genesis GV70?? You didn't even included in your list of comparisons as far as luxury SUV's? It's there now in either 2.5 or 3.5 and they are selling. I have one and it's great. No it's not quite the sports car feel of the M340i but the ride and over all luxury feel make it a contender.

Yup that’s what the dealer told me. The chop shortage is the cause of no HK Systems.

Bet they did it primarily due to shortage. The new year SUVs are missing them with plastic caps due to supply issues

The RX350 doesn’t directly compete with the X3. It’s an X5 and GLE rival. The compact luxury crossover market offers a list of athletic vehicles that replaces sedans while still giving you car-like driving dynamics. The RX350 doesn’t fit that mold

He wasn't comparing them and it is pretty obvious that they are in different segments. I believe his point was addressing the implication that such a 'slow' vehicle won't sell. So he directed you to the fact that something slow, or just as slow, is selling like hot cakes. He does make a great point. Personally, I have a 340i and my wife has the x1 that we are about to get rid of in November. The x1 is fun to drive but too small. They do make it feel like it's quick but it isn't necessarily quick. We are on the fence with the rdx aspec or the new x3. Drove a loaner x3 and it is indeed laxzy. I thought about the 40i but that's more gas with our heavy feet. Don't need two of those motors in my garage guzzling it up ;)

I just don't like the exterior updates. It looks to animated. I like the center vents on the dash, but otherwise, compared to my 2020MY, I would pass on this. Glad I got the pre facelift model while I could.

@@aymang2067 mostly just the external look of the car. I didn't get the overhead display and advanced driver assist and the 360 camera + parking assist. As I don't use it and the overhead display was kind of annoying and distracting for me driving at night.

I could be wrong but I believe it’s because the X3 is made in the US. Not sure which factory the X3 is exporting from for the German market, but if you are receiving them from Spartansburg, SC that could he why.

BMW just went and messed up a good looking car from last year. Smh I have the awesome 2018 BMW X3 M40i and it's a fun machine and head turner. I really doubt this will happen with this new design. Should have left the design alone.
