Something that gets missed much too often? Audi barely has any storage. A glove box yes, but center console is almost non-existent. As for cockpit, BMW also excels over Audi. We recently traded a Q5 Sportback for a BMW M 40i, a good decision.
I have a ‘23 X3 M40i and driving in Comfort or Economy soften the ride great. Sport is more fun because it tightens up, but not like a Mustang…which is like skating on metal wheels from the 50’s.
BMW X3 has got more space and I find the center console to be much better than Audi’. Audi’ center console reminds me of Toyota. Also, the interiors in a BMW X3 are more black, Audi has grayish. I love my BMW!
I have a 2020 and a 2022 Q5. I do NOT miss the touchpad at all in the 2022. I HATE that thing, particularly for data entry. Everyone is different, of course, but for me they should not look back and bring back the touchpad. My 2022 is a PHEV, and I'm really disappointed they axed it in favor of full EV models for 2023. The PHEV is a great way to break into the EV world without any range anxiety
Truly, that Audi Virtual Cockpit is a step above BMWs interiors which seldom change but those BMW Inline-6 engines in the higher models though - I LIKE!
this is the vdo i was looking for since there were no actual comparison bw these two for 2022. test drove q5 few days ago and didn’t feel a suv in it. looking forward to drive x3 in coming days. not sure if the M package is worth or not.
Nice review. Most comparisons I've seen lean to the BMW because of it's sportiness... but I just can't get past it's looks. It doesn't look sporty... it doesn't look cool... it looks U-G-L-Y. That's a subjective thing, obviously, but it rules out the X3 for me right away. Same thing for the X5. IMO that was the best looking SUV on the road when it came out... but their designs haven't aged/evolved well to me.
The other issue is with the control center. Going all touch screen with no physical controls for the entertainment screen is no no. It’s more distracting and of course the screen gets fingerprints all over it. I think BMW has done a great job with their physical control set up. I would argue is probably the best one within its competitors. Audi got rid of their physical controls because it was terrible.
audi q5 all the way , the only thing x3 beats the Q5 is the driving and somehow the exterior though in the back looks meh. The interior of the X3 is ugly UF lol . Audi has better technology, interior , less wind noise , light steering wheel and if you add the black optics package on it it will beat the x3 exterior .
