I just got the 158 W Burton Custom X, and coming from a thinner and 2cm shorter board i been using for years. Ive gone out for 2 days and can say that its a crazy board that picks up speed so fast its almost shocking! Edges are super thick which means u have to be careful the first couple runs but after u get used to it, its so much fun to use! It doesnt go through powder that well unless u keep that front end up, but its still rides well nonetheless. Getting air with this thing is so mint, the landing is extremely smooth and u keep ur speed as u land out of it. All around my favourite all mountain board ever, id recommend it to anyone thats willing to spend the money!

I will preface by saying I am not a multi board owner. I've been riding the 158 Custom X since 2014 and ridden it in all conditions. Before that I was on a Burton Balance and same with that one. I still have and ride both. With that said I will make the statement that you can ride this board anywhere you want, and it will perform well if you know how to ride, turn, air, pivot, rotate, etc... When I bought this in Breckenridge in 2014 it was 50% off, my driving factor as usual. I've ridden this in deep snow all around the Rockies and never thought twice about if the board was capable of doing it. I always think if I am able to, the board will take me there. I think there are so many reviews that get so granular and use terms that become cliché. If you want a specific board for powder or park, then yes, they are available. But this board can easily do whatever you want. After living in Colorado from 05 to 2018 I'm back in Vermont and riding tight trees, steep bumps, hard scratchy east coast crud/ice, and Champlain Powder. Again,.. it handles everything that "I believe" that I can handle. Maybe it's time I bought a new one.

Hell ya man. Pretty much this board is super dope, but more advanced and fast and stiff. But it rips!

Custom X owner here. I ride snowbird, solitude and Brighton mostly(for context). I use this board for groomer days(when it hasnt snowed in awhile) and some spring days here and there. Really have to push back on this claim of the board does well in powder. It does not. Yes you can slide the bindings all the way back but if you are a good aggressive rider you will feel the flex point of the board is kinda off at that setting in bigger or hard cut turns. Can you make it work ok in pow? sure but when comparing it to my main free ride board the yes pyl, I would feel at a definite handicap riding the custom x in deeper snow. It can be done but if you think it does it "well" you need more experience with different boards to form a more balanced opinion of expected performance in those deeper days.

Just got back from 4 days in Austria where I rode my brand new Custom X 166W Camber for the first time and to my surprise, it felt much softer with Cartel EST bindings than my 10 years old Ride Kink 156W from 2011, which is rated as Flex 4. It was around -4C to -14C and like 30-60cm of 2 days fresh snow. When I got to some icy patches, the edges did not hold that well. It really could use some tuning, but the factory wax is really good. In powder, I had some problems keeping the nose up and not falling, but I would say it's rather caused by not being used to the board yet. Carving on slopes though... That was really something, the pop from one turn to the other often surprised me and I was able to do even some quick and super short turns really well and in high speeds. I was expecting this size to have much bigger curve radius, but it felt awesome to do both short and long turns. I was afraid that it would be too long and that jump from 156 to 166 will be difficult, but not at all.

I’m on day 4 of the exact same board 166 custom x camber and it’s a monster. I’m in whistler right now it’s a bit icy, when I hit the brakes with my heels it slides down more than my prior board but it’s just telling me to keep going hard and to stop slowing down 😅 hope I master it soon. When I hit a nice groomer I am absolutely flying.

Hey man, how much do you weight? I wonder if I should get a 166W or 162W being 99kg 194cm. How did it feel to have larger board after riding 156W? I would appreciate any pros and cons
@marekmusil96
@marekmusil96 Год назад
@@andonzhuglov Hey, I'm ~76kg and 190cm, you might be okay with 166W. Unfortunately, I could not ride much this winter due to an injury, just one day on a small hill near the end of the season. I fell down icy stairs just before Christmas and hurt my shoulder bad. So I've got 5 days of riding on the board since I bought it in January 2022.

Great question Paul. All the videos on my channel are with me riding this board. The board is stiff and fast, yet very agile and able to move around if you can do so efficiently. That is actually a great idea for me to do for my next video on riding moguls! I'll throw it on the list. Thanks

New subscriber today. Good video bro. I just bought the burton custom camber and the burton family tree leader. But I need a park board slash freestyle for just messing around the slopes. I'm looking at a burton free thinker but really looking at a Salomon huck knife pro. But I have to wait till winter now before I can afford a third board. I like 3 boards in the quiver. I took years off and I'm coming back this season. I'm excited but nervous as heck....im a heavier guy just a solid guy that u don't see in alot of snowboarders. I had an accident and I just filled out a bit from it and getting older now. The huck knife pro can handle heavier weight of a rider. I guess I'm wondering if u know any other good freestyle boards or brands to consider. I've always been stuck on burton and Salomon. But to be honest I don't know much about Salomon I just like their designs the looks. Do u know about Salomon? Anyways if u have suggestions for a freestyle board and or views on Salomon I'd be so grateful to hear back. Thankyou for ur time. Ride well!! Good luck on ur channel. Oh and I ride in the Midwest so no big mountains yet.! Some day...

@eelcovvliet
@eelcovvliet 2 года назад
@@je5406 its alle in your riding style and technique. If you ride the flying V like a camber, it will be a little loose in the back. So the trick is to balance the pressure on both feet evenly. Especially when carving at high speed.

It doesn't even look like this board was tested in "Powder". I don't think I saw anything more than maybe 5 inches? Any board would work fairly well in that. This video didn't provide any information other than watching this rider barely shred much of anything on a board not designed for pow. If I'm wondering if a board shreds pow then I want to see you ride at least a foot plus. Should have saved this video for an actual pow day.
@snowboard303

As mentioned early in the video I rode this board with the same set up at Copper a week before as one of the first chairs, unfortunately I didn't get that day on video but it was on Christmas Eve of 2021. Look up the snow reports for that day. Although I didn't get GoPro footage of it, I did record a couple TikTok videos which you can see under @Slink.182

@@sodar1796 no shit! He says he can tell the board doesn't float like other boards, and likes 10 inches and under. Just like I said in my comment "any board would do that" in those conditions.
