I love the sound on the diesel though. I would get it not only for the fuel economy but also I love the sound of a diesel workhorse more than a gas V8 (not counting muscle car and sports car engines)
DIesel is for people who like to go on long trips with multiple passengers. DIesel provides 2X the range and Diesel costs far less than premium gas (someplaces, diesels costs the same as regular unleaded). Diesel engines also lasts much longer than non-diesel engines. I don't see any advantage of the V-8 engine. Other large SUV provide better mpg, ride and power than the escalade's V-8. So, on a scale of 1-10, I would give the V-8 engine a rating of 1 and the diesel engine a rating of 10. I curently have ML 250 Bluetec (with DIesel) and am able to make 800 miles round trip on one filling and easily go over 100 mph on highway and the ML 250 has far less HP and Torque than the Escalade and large SUV's are not meant for racetrack. I do wish that Escalade didn't come with extremely low profile 22" 45 depth ratio tires. Would love a 20" higher profile tires so I could go off-road a bit and not worry about blown tires/broken axle and hydroplaning...along with broken back and higher cost of low profile tires...though, I'm sure that teenage boys would like the larger tires...it looks better in the driveway.
This Diesel engine seems very nice, however if they gave it something like 300hp it would have been better since bmw and Mercedes can give to an l6 diesel 330/40 hp, yes like this the engine is not too stressed but for a car of this size, weight and not rly good aereo dynamics more power would be nice.
Haters will always hate no matter if it was a Ferrari or a Bugatti, there are always haters for everything. The fact is that the Escalade presents a very big threat to any luxury cars, including Rolls-Royce, and Bentley.
Got the gas but I wish I had found a diesel when buying. I hear the mpg is nearly double. However, I love the exhaust sound on mine when you floor it a bit (dealer installed cat back exhaust) almost sounds like the V.
I guess there are still exhaust sound fanatics, I personally prefer conversation with passengers and theater like sounds of 1000+ watts audio system. I can't believe that there are actually people who are fascinated by exhaust sound.
My math for 100k miles Diesel avg mpg 25 need 4000 gallons x $4,63 = $18,520 plus def 400 and more expensive maintenance Gas avg mpg 18 need 5,555 gallons x $3,47 = $19,277 So its almost same amount for 100k miles. Not a big deal to get a diesel
Does diesel have higher maintenance fee than gas? I do not tow and rarely off road, and diesel price cost 50 cents more than 91 premium at my local. Should I still get diesel?
@@theluminary5324 all 3 German automakers have nice ambient lighting I have to admit MB is definitely like a night club. But I wonder why the CTs don't have ambient lighting they could use it
I don’t understand why the 2 nd row has no ambient lights like the front has. It’s over 100 k!!! What do you have to pay for having ambient lights everywhere? A million? It’s just straight ridiculous
