This was honestly the best event I've watched "live" since 2020 Better than the candidates, better than the World Championship match. Just a very fun event seeing strong players from around the world.
I wanted to say almost the same thing :). One of the most fun to watch event recaps EVER. Also 0:48 - hats off, f@#k the haters. I think Levy's ability to be unaffected by tons of sh!t, that some retarded people post on internet, is a big part of this channel's success. Seemed like it went to 100k subs, then 100k to 1m in no time. I still like coming back to 100k impersonations video :). Or when levy Impersonates Giri on Vidit's stream. "Tonight is the night guys", "let's go guys" - hillarious, still makes me chuckle, must watch :D
this year candidates were fantastic, the sheer excellence of them and brilliant tactics in every single game was breathtaking, that draw of hikaru vs alireza was more then this event
A little follow-up for a player who got featured by Levy a while ago : Eline Roebers had an insane event. She finished 7.5/10, tied with Pia Cramling(who, coincidentally, is the only one who managed to beat her) for performance on board 1, winning 50 elo and her second IM norm.
Levy should do video on the Board 1 medalists: Pia, Eline, and Zhansaya, since he didn't cover any of their games. Eline's games against Marie Sebag and Mariya Muzychuk were two of the most crazy games in the Olympiad!
Congratulations to both Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 Armenia 🇦🇲 India 🇮🇳 in open section . congratulations to ukraine 🇺🇦 Georgia 🇬🇪 and India 🇮🇳 in womens section for medals . Special congratulations to Moldova for the 4th finish. A fan of chess ❤️🥳🌟🇮🇳✨
"And you know, i am a serious guy. So i took youre feedback and starting tomorrow i am gonna continue wearing whatever it is that i want, it's none of youre business." The best respons ever, just epic!
I am disappointed that people think Levy needs to wear sleeved shirts. If he feels comfortable going shirtless (and RU-vid allows it), I have no problem with shirtless Levy recaps. I'm watching for the chess commentary, not the eye candy (that's what Eric Rosen's channel is for, I've heard...)
I played that part twice, had me laughing for like 20 minutes. Not 20 consecutive minutes, but it would keep popping into my head as I was watching the video.
I love how you hype that MOLDOVA had such a huge success in the tournament. It really is awesome to see that things like this happen in every sport. Just because you are the underdog does not mean that you already lost. Amazing to see such a great performance by a Team without a 2500 player. Great videos. Keep up the amazing work! I also love that you position yourself so hard against abusive comments towards chess players or people in general. (last video)
@@zahaanaskari7600 india b on 3 won bronze and india a on 4 Edit : also in gaprindashvilli cup ( open + women): india a on 1 and india b on 3 In women india A on 3 and won bronze Also gukesh and nihal won gold on board prizes for top 2 boards, prag won bronze and arjun won silver on board no. 3
What do you mean Nihal is a surprise? By the end of the Tournament, he's the only undefeated player from Team B. He just managed to be out of the spotlight because no Do or Die matches fell on his shoulder. All 5-7 youngsters are equally capable of Winning it's just that Gukesh shined brightest in this tournament. We could also see how reliable Raunak and Pragg were.
@@bajiraosingham9495 yeah no disrespect buddy 😅 but before this tournament i think he was playing many draws and in this too he played some draws right so i can't predict he will win that medal😅 but yeah these young guns are just op🔥🔥🔥
If we don't have another big event for a while, I'd love to see some new additions to the Chess History and Ten Minute Openings series. I really enjoyed the Karpov-Korchnoi and Karpov-Kasparov videos and I feel like there must be more historical drama to mine. Perhaps covering historical Candidates' Tournaments leading up to the championships? Like the one where Bobby Fischer famously declared that the Soviet Union had "fixed chess" afterwards. I don't know much about that tournament aside from that infamous pronouncement.
Hi Levy! Comments like the one at 23:45 ("Would stockfish defend this with white?") Got me thinking... It would be very cool to see you try to win those kind of already winning (+1.5, +2) positions against stockfish and see if you succeed within, let's say, 10 minutes
Lets GOOOOOO Uzbekistan!! GOOO Nodirbek!!!!!!!! I've been a big fan of Nodirbek Abdusattorov ever since he held Carlsen to a draw in the 2019 in the World blitz championship, and being featured in Agad's video 'Magnus who? Carlsen vs Abdusattorov', glad to see him doing well
But in the final match he also had draw. I seemed Nodirbek like Ronaldo, CR7 in last Euro championship was leador of his team during the championship but he couldn't play in final game
Gukesh was so sad even today. He can't stop thinking about the one moment of madness where he didn't take the draw against Abdusattarov. That one moment turned out to be the difference between gold and bronze for his team. Another reminder, chess is brutal.
Yes and I’m afraid that one moment will haunt Gukesh for the rest of his life - he’ll only remember that rather than his glorious 8/8 start on board one - chess is such a brutal game😭😭😭
Being Indian I am so sad and happy at the same time. We were the top of both open and women section till 2nd last round. Then by the time last round ends, we are 3rd in both. But atleast I am soo excited to see our youngsters. I think we have a serious chance at the world champion in the next 10 years
True, gold medals were for the taking. Especially Women's India 1 team had awful last rounds of the tournament. As for the young players, I hope some of them will be able to break the glass ceiling of low 2700s - the level on which guys like Vidit or Pentala seem "stuck" forever. Very good players, more - excellent players - but nobody seriously mentions their names in championship conversations.
India has a chance to be the top chess nation in the world. Their sheer number of chess geniuses is astounding. Making the jump from 2700 to 2800+ is still a HUGE task ahead of them. It remains to be seen if they can make the jump, either as a group or even one of them.
I've been following the wcc matches of carlsen v karjakiin, then caruana followed by nepo...gotta say, i enjoyed this tournament infinitely more than the wcc matches...this tournament did not disappoint in terms of excitement, thrill and had a nail-biting finish...being a team event it often forced players to make a decision and go for a win instead of a draw...on the other hand, because of the overall team score, many went down trying to secure a draw in a winning position only to end up losing...so many upsets, 2400 or 2500 players beating 2600 -2700 players, doubt we will ever see this kind of excitement or entertainment in a wcc championship...
Gotta disagree completely the WCC matches of Magnus were all extremely tense and entertaining and infinitely more intresting than a team event where you do not get to see most of the top players playing each other because their teams are not as good
Howell played the first 8 rounds and scored 7.5/8, with a performance better than Gukash's. also, the next big event is in 2-3 weeks, St Louis Rapid & Blitz (Hikaru joins), and immediately after we have the Sinquefield Cup (Magnus joins)
@@Orrie_Travel Howell's performance rating of 2898 is higher than Gukesh's as well. If there were individual medals for all the boards combined, Howell would probs get the gold over Gukesh.
@@MrOobling ok. But the medal was decided for each board right. Also, gukesh blundered in that game with uzb, before that his performance rating was 3000+
This is my first time watching the Chess Olympiad, and I've really enjoyed it! It's great to see players from around the world, who aren't the Top 10 SuperGMs we see constantly, but would still crush players like me like a fly. There's been drama, heartache, upsets... I'll definitely be tuning in next year!
0:43 "I'm a serious guy and I took your feedback in stride, so starting tomorrow I'm going to continue wearing whatever I want and it's none of your business. " Go you levy! We love you. Keep doing what you do which is deliver chess in a consumable way for the masses!
Thanks for highlighting Moldova's win over England and celebrating this historical realisation for the young team. Enjoyed your reaction! Big respect from Moldova, Levy.
My introduction to announced chess was Shelby Lyman. He did a great job. However, your recaps felt like NFL playoffs and Superbowl. I could almost smell the shattered dreams of the defeated the way you announced the games. Very exciting. You've got a new fan.
As someone from Moldova i am so impressed by my country's performance. So many good games played and i can't wait to see more players succeed in such events.
Lol you should troll at this point, start wearing more and more outlandish stuff lol like start a stream in say a cheese head that... Or a tux tank top lol
That was very good Olimpiad for my country,As I am uzbek,i am totally pleased with my countrymen, thank you so much Levy for lifting my mood through out this period
Oh my, Levy please stop focusing on the 0.1% people that say annoying or offensive stuff. No one cares about them, mentioning them so often is becoming slightly annoying for me and certainly for others that just love your content, and don't wanna hear about these guys. And by the way, I'm pretty sure talking about them shows that you care, and therefore encourages them to post more silly stuff in the comments
Gonna type this out again; weighted pull ups/chin ups dude. Still curious what you’re doing from gym work, but it does wonders for upper body growth. Couple that with weighted dips, and you’ve got what amounts to an upper body squat there as far as growth potential. Keep wearing the sleeveless and the tank tops, but it’s such a cheat code style movement for muscle hypertrophy there, as well as overall back development and just getting juicy in general.
I really like your daily contents @Levy. Every day even though I knew results off all matches I looked forward to Your videos especially waited content about Uzbek team. Surprisingly even today you made only small portion of content. I hope some more videos about Uzbek team. Thanks.
An amazing chess tournament!! There was not a team EXTREMELY better than the others, but a bunch of amazing players with amazing games💪 I really enjoyed watching it live, but I also enjoyed watching them on your channel😍
@@notjohn2672 what do you mean?🤔 I meant to say that there was not a team that from the start was the favorite and that ended up winning the tournament
@@lukecalos4442 just that i was looking at the standings the other day and some teams are just sitting there with 0 wins. I get your meaning though, i was being a little pedantic :p
@@notjohn2672 ah yes, I understand now😂 unfortunately, to have a winner we also need a loser😔 but there were still lots of surprises, like my country (Italy) beating norway out of nowhere😅
The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, issued a decree “On Measures for the Further Development and Popularization of Chess and the Improvement of the Chess Player Training System”. January 14, 2021, Under the Decree, the project “Chess at school” will be implemented by expanding the chess education system in primary school, as well as conducting competitions between students and schools, promoting chess among children and adolescents, and many other important measures.
I think chess needs many more team events, doesnt have to be nationality, can be anything from 2v2v….. to national ranking to RNG assigning IM/GM teams even
gotta admit moldova played an immortal game with those 2 queens. someone should analyze that game deeply. it is crazy. it can cause any gm to loose. wild games like that one won by vladimir hamitevici are hard to control. with so many tactical things and threats everywhere, it is difficult to know what black is up to.with this game moldova's nation is put high in the chess international arena. now everyone around the world knows that moldova can be tough and brilliant in chess. nice instructive video. thanks
I agree, and the crazy part, Hamitevici played that game(from the point he started to attack) pretty much perfectly. I was looking at the game live and most of the moves were top engine moves it's insane
Something for the next tournament that you could try out is some sort of standings table. Whether it’s a screenshot of the official website or a chart from a spreadsheet, I think it would help improve the quality of the video
Great work! I've been following some boards every day live while still working for my company. Your high-quality comments rounded it all up for me every evening when I was done with my labor. Thank you very much and keep up the good work! Or to say it with your words: absolutely shocking unreal performance! :-)
Truly love the way Levy said 'its none of your business'... :D .. There are so many cookies like these in his videos which makes it very entertaining and unique...Love it..
