2022 Chevy Corvette Stingray // Are we Still BLOWN-AWAY a Week Later?? 

I’m Kentucky born and raised & my family has always been a chevy family. Have had Camaros in the family since 1969 & currently have 2 Camaro’s. I’m looking to be the first Corvette owner in the family. No hate on my Camaro but I’ve always been a Corvette kind of guy and the C8 has everything I want in a car. I customize one on the website about twice a week lol & save every penny I make in hopes to one day get this car!

Best mid engined car for the $$ on the planet by far and more than most people could handle at the limits, and its a naturally aspirated V8, wow wow wow

Now this is a great review! Detail is pretty thorough, also really appreciate the way the camera operator shows a viewpoint down low on the car - instead of the usual aspect of a normal sized person looking down on the car. Looks much better imho when you are down level with the car since it is a bit tricky to effectively capture this model. The Hypersonic Gray paint looks really classy and exotic, also the morello red interior is very special as well.

I think this is one of the best reviews i have ever seen , made me realize that i bought one great car ,its one monster i enjoy on the track and find it really fun since i also added a static c8 by victor racing it handles even better

I saw an interview with one of the GM engineers a little while back. Part of the reason for none of the high tech safety systems is that some need to be mounted higher on the fronts of the car than the design of the car would allow for. It’s also meant to be a drivers car, rather than having the safety systems help you drive the car.

I don't know a lot about the modern Corvettes, but when I see the models from the last 2-3 years driving around town, they look to me like they were inspired, in part, by the GT40. Especially the side view/profile.

2022 Chevy Corvette Stingray looks good ... B pillar area widen more into body line above gas cover, IMO, would improve look - as is now looks out of proportion ... Not liking center console area, could be improved on ... Am impressed with the rear trunk & frunk as most sports cars are lacking in cargo capacity area ... Slainte' ! Cheers !

Safety system(s). If you want the starting price to be $75-80k they could easily do that but then you’ll be in a price category of much nicer cars and Vettes claim to fame since day one is a “every man’s high performance sports car” and at $75-80k the “every man’s” goes away and they’ll just buy the Camaro. The other side of the coin is that this is, and has always been a drivers car and if you need a computer to drive for you then this isn’t the car for you.

Great car, and amazing deal at $83k. However, you CANNOT buy the car for that price. If you wanted to buy that exact car, you're going to have to pay at least $110k, or more. And, with the long wait list, some dealers are selling to people who drive the car 500 miles and then return it. Then, you see it on the lot as an ultra low mileage car, but charging $30k or more above the original sale price. It's a crime, IMO, and Chevy should prohibit this markup practice. Actually, it's price gouging and I'm surprised the feds haven't stepped in on this practice.

Nice looking car overall. I think the back looks very impressive but the front, not so much.

It's a tedious complaint I admit but I really wish Chevy had kept the C7's amber turn signals. I'm also not a fan of the steering wheel or the giant row of buttons separating the seats. Otherwise the C8 is truly amazing. Overall very well done.

NO safety features that are interesting. The design is great the outside and the inside look awesome and the sound of the engine is impressive.

lol, so it doesn't have a shifter? I know it's an automatic transmission, but I'd still like to see a shifter.

The rear is to rectangle for my blood. Them rims were designed by kids. They should have worked with a wheel company like American Racing for a better looking rim.

Make no mistake that the new C8 is a great sports car, But i do have issues with it. many that one could argue is not truly justified considering its starting price point. But here goes anyways. Finally GM does right by the Corvette and makes it mid engine, more over, they do one even better by making a variant with a proper engine. Chevy's LS small block has always been great, at power and performance, but its also been lack luster in sound and glamour. Thankfully Chevy remedied that issue by following a move by Ford, and opting with a Flate plane crank engine in the z06 with all the bells whistles and sounds of a proper mid engine exotic. That said, all that is great except for the my one pet peeve in that the C8's design is far too generic. Its not a bad looking car, but its also a rather dated generic design. The car just came out and it already looks aged. And that because its design is that of a few decades past. More akin to supercars of old, such as the lamborghini Gallardo, the NSX which also had a dated design, The 458 italia, which remains a great looking car but the c8 has none of its sleek well molded sculpted lines. And to this we have an all new next generation corvette that looks like it was made in the early 2k's. that for me is a ball thats been dropped because one thing that shouldve been on point, was a car who's design shouldve harkened to the future not the past. I think the C8 will need a refreshened design sooner than later.

Anyone bothered by those huge coolers up front? I know they are necessary but they look awkward considering the C8 was modeled after the Ferrari 458 which doesnt have such high profile coolers.

A C8 is a slow Vette. Both the C2 and 3 were a lot faster cars, though they all share the wheezing circa 1895 pushrod, so going above 100 is beating a glue horse like all 1960s era GM cars. The fastest C8 0-60 run on Dragy is 4.12, a full second faster than the 5+ second runs you guys show on this video. The exhaust is virtually silent, everyone agrees on that. What you are hearing is the synthetic stereo sound GM added to compensate for the whisper quiet engine. The DCT is also a very slow shifting dual clutch, one of the slowest ever made. It’s a generational improvement over the 2-3 second delayed, hunting shifts on previous Vettes. More concerning, all DCTs are being recalled at an alarming rate, and GM has the same problems as Ford, who agreed to pay DCT owners $50K apiece for their hassles instead of recalling the cars, as they pleaded to the judge that a recall would break the company. The problem is they were intentionally fraudulent, which could happen to GM, too. The C8’s steering is shockingly bad, Just as you show, you can move the wheel 2-3 inches before there is an out of phase response. Corvettes are known for this dangerous characteristic. One would think the C8’s horrifically dangerous, understeering straight into the wall, too light front end would fix the responsiveness issue in exchange for the terrible low limit handling, but GM managed to boof it even harder. Just awful. Even for a Corvette.
