A great review Rebecca, I have to agree that this crazy urge for unlit touch controls is madness. That may well put me off a car but as you mention at least we still have real steering wheel buttons (unfortunately do not change the climate settings unless I'm mistaken). Style wise I like it and I also like that you can switch it from behaving like a mildly angry moggie to a lap cat at the touch of another (real) button. It may not be as sharp as the Ford ST on the twisties but you are less likely to have to sponge down the rear seats if carrying rear passengers after a spirited drive. There is a lot to like about this car but those touch buttons do mark it down like others from the VW group that have them. An interesting point about the paddles, I have them on my 3 year old VW group car and have no issues but If your hands are a tad smaller then I can see what you mean. With the old automatic gear stalk you could just knock it left then back and forth to change manually. There is clearly some cost cutting form over function going on.
unfortunately for them, the vehicle is not the most stylish, desirable, and priceless part of the video.🤩🥳😘 but , they did a great job copying Kia and Hyundai. Always nice to hear and see those great reviews by Rebecca. 🤗👍💥🤩
Not sure I agree with these 'too composed for its own good' verdicts, or this dated idea that hot hatches need to be bone rattling machines that shouldn't be easy to live with. The whole selling point of a GTI (which this 245 version competes with) is the everyday usability and sensible all round package. The 300 version of this car absolutely trounces the likes of i30Ns and Focus STs on any track test I've seen so far, and I'd much rather a car that's refined while being faster than the aforementioned competitors.
Got a 300 mk4 the tech is a bag is shit and quality of material plastics, seats and paint is shit. Worst car I've owned loads of owners given up and ditched them.
Pleasant enough to drive but pricing wise too high for my pockets, so again I'll say keep my Fiesta Active that has served me so far well over nearly 4 years.
Surprisingly frugal engine on the highways. I’ve had the equivalent Golf GTI and on a long trip - Autobahn, Swiss highways, Autostrada - I saw it range from 5.6L/100km to 10L/100km, the lower beating that 37mpg figure & definitely not when hammering down the autobahn :) In Switzerland I was doing 6.4 easily on cruise control (speed limits 😝)
I am not sure that either the Golf GTI (which can still come with a manual) or this slightly larger Cupra would regard themselves as ‘hot hatches’ having to compete with anything. The hot hatch label is too broad to be meaningful and both of these cars are positioned for everyday use. I had two Mark 7 GTIs both of which were wonderful to put huge miles on. My latest car, with nearly twice the power, doesn’t work for me quite as well. Horses for courses, I guess.
This is a great review ! Random question when you are doing the driving scenes , does rebecca drive in them brown sandals ? Also when will the next car review from rebecca be out ?
