I have driven it last week. Feels light in stand and even lighter driving. Super off-road and surprisingly extrem amazing on road. Coming out the corner in sport mode and signing a 10 meter black string on the road while I have driven the bike just 15 minutes. I love it and I can‘t wait to get mine delivered.
Thank you sir. You convinced me to get a desert x. We share human specs. My first love was a ducati monster many years ago. Let motorcycling go because cops kept harassing me. Now I’m older, my children are grown and am a lawyer. Going to ride again and enjoy life in my Desertx.
I'm 5'7 and eyeing this. How fortunate that you also are 5'7 and i got to see how this might feel. The optional low seat might also aid in getting my foot down. As long as I can get 1 foot down, I'm good. Thanks.
Dope! I would not have said you were under 6 ft. I have the same inseam but taller torso. The bike looks amazing! It literally looks like the bike was designed by movie set designers from the 80s for big block buster sci fi films. The fairing and wheel fender looks not only futuristic from 80s styling stand point but organically designed as well. Yet I love the slender and sport even chassis tail and seat. Sick! Love it!
Is there going to be a luggage section in the Ducati catalogue for this bike also its way to tall, for small people will there be a shock lowering kit and different seat heights to cater for small people with bad off road skill's
There are luggage options, lowering seats and kits available -> amsducati.com/ducati-accessories/accessories/?find=2022-ducati-desert-x-1922&sid=V71gPQ31yk
Thanks for the great video. Is it taking much wind more than multistrada v2? Is it comfortable as multistrada v2 as on the road? If anyone experienced can share their opinion, I’ll appreciate.
Can you provide a release date please? I was about to purchase a Yamaha Tenere 700 when I saw the ad for this bike. Now I’m having anxiety issues. Thanks for an excellent presentation.
We will see these bikes hit North American dealers in "Summertime 2022" lol. There is no firm timeline here as Italy is still dealing with supply chain issues.
I would never consider buying a bike in it's first year of production. If reliability is good I'll place it on a wishlist alongside the T7 and the AT in a few years. In the meantime I'll be content to watch videos.
superb neo retro design finally a trail that looks like a motorcycle different from all the others I can't wait to try it. a question, what is the size of the presenter because is high in saddle height
@@AMSDucatiDallas thank you for the answer but I am French and in France the height of a person is measured in centimeters, can you tell me exactly please? thank you Robert
Stunning bike, I love it! Wow. My only concern it the name Ducati triggers an insurance premium bump and the sticker shock is not for the faint of heart. Especially since the Norden 901 is alleged to be >$5k less.
Am I correct in understanding that if the aux fuel tanks are added as an accessory, this choice voids the ability to install the pannier racks? A one or the other choice?
That is correct. No hard luggage works because of the framework for the tanks. If you wanted the aux fuel tank and additional luggage space, you would have the ability to add in soft luggage either by Ducati Performance Accessories (amsducati.com/desert-x-soft-side-panniers) or via third party like mosko moto or kreiga or wolf man. 👍
Good to hear the feedback; thank you. For most American journeys (North and South); fuel range isn’t much of a concern. However, in Alaska and Yukon…it is. So, some trips might necessitate the GSA and some might work better with the Desert X.
I am really trying to like that bike but that 80's tenere / elefant (and anything else from the 80's desert bike look), its a bit hard to love. may need a few more years to settle in
Finally a good looking adventure bike. I hope the other manufacturers will start to care how their bikes look. It's time to do away with those awkward noses.
We were not allowed to. This is a pre-production unit that was not to have fuel in her. Once we have our first pre-ordered bike in the showroom, we will bring you another video. 👍
As Marty said in the video, this is a pre-production model. There are items seen on this bike like the zip-tied side cover that will not be on the production model.
@@AMSDucatiDallas your thumbnail says you are sold on them, you love it and you are buying one. But you are a store selling them to customers? Am I wrong ? Our Ducati dealer is a mate and he just rides his demos to enjoy them.
🤔 Truth bomb....... If it had a Yamaha badge on it there wouldn't be any available in the US market. Yamaha Japan produces the base T7s for the US market. The largest US Yamaha dealers only get two or three per year, at most. My local Dealer (largest in Texas) got ONE T7 in 2022, was scheduled to receive ONE T7 in 2023. Yamaha France produces the Euro market T7s (World Raid, Extreme, Rally, Tour models), NONE of these are provided to the US market. My local Yamaha dealer invited me to come out to a Yamaha day event back in April.........for an opportunity to sit on a T7. 🤪 So generous of Yamaha, invite me out to a two day event to sit on a bike. I've already got over 3.6k miles on my three month old DesertX, and that's with the extreme heat Texas is experiencing this summer.
I recognise hype when I see it. I tell you what we can't egnore. The size and the weight. The time of mamut of rides like this is over. Ducati missed the market. The sales for this kinda of bike are down. Low displacement mid weight under 500cc is the way to go. Even the T7 soon will be considered too big. People are realising they can do th same or more with their crf300l... Don't get me wrong. Love the bike though!
@Tim Brandtbig bikes are not selling like in the past. They still sell a lot but the market has been decaying for the last 5 years. Good example of that the 310 gs. BMW did that because they realised that the big hogs stalled. No one buys a 1200 g's to go off road. They are all city bikes. When was the last time you saw one covered in mud? It's a status symbol now more than an utility.
I love it but once again Ducati (and other manufacturers) have missed a trick. Seat height is far too high for the shorter rider. I’m 5ft 7” and wouldn’t want to have a butt cheek off the seat whilst tippy toeing. Come on Ducati surely you can accommodate the shorter rider with a low suspension option!
You're going to be hard pressed to find a dual sport with a dirt bias that does not have a higher seat. Ground clearance and suspension and needed for that segment. Marty has a 30" inseam and is 5ft 7in tall and would wholeheartedly disagree with you that the seat height is too high for the shorter rider.
It is a pre-production unit held together with zip ties. lol We were told we could not fire it up but once we have our first unit at the shop, we will do video a ride test and walk around with the full termignoni exhaust.
The DesertX Owners Manual is useless. Ducati needs to make the service workshop manual available to owners. The notion of taking the bike to a local dealer for anything other than checking tire pressures and adding gas is absurd, especially in the Adventure bike segment.
The gas tank / handlebar will be the first point of contact before the case and we assume most serious off-roaders will opt for the full tubular stainless engine protection.
Thats not a bad thing. The upside-down fork and fully adjustable single shock absorber were developed with the Japanese brand Kayaba, a successful producer in the off-road world. This bike is tuned for putting in serious dirty work and we wouldn't want it any other way 👍
NO EXCUSE DUCATI needs an equal to the BMW 1600.. Porsche built an SUV Ducati can do a real Tourer I owned a 906 ie in the 90's,, Im to old and i do not have any dirt interest,, Sport bikes are Perfect but they are for a certain age group.. NO EXCUSE IM SO PISSED and DISAPPOINTED . Blessings oh well Indian or Harley or maybe Goldwing
Turn the music down. And don’t pic songs that distract from what you are talking about. It sounds like a dog gone rave and could even concentrate on what you were saying about the bike.
TONS of room. Touratech has partnered with Ducati for hard saddle bags and top case. Check them out -> amsducati.com/ducati-accessories/?find=2022-ducati-desert-x-1922&sid=FcJrQeFPTi
