Great video. Thanks. I understand the need for your important point on starting out by making a duplicate of the store. What I don't understand are several related items: 1. How do you deploy the customization changes to make them LIVE when you successfully finished making the customization? 2. What do you do with the "duplicate" if it gets messed up? 3. Where is this "duplicate" and what is it called? 4. When and how to you "leave" the "duplicate" version and revert (either temporarily or permanently) back to the original store version?
Ahhhh, I think I just discovered the answers to my questions. I just noticed a few scrolls down from where you showed how to duplicate that there is a new name listed there with options to publish, rename, remove, edit, etc.
Hi Andrew, thank you for sharing this video. 1 question I have, that was not clear from your video at 4:45-4:55 section was when you go to rename the template. You say to copy it from the document and paste it so it is exactly like the document, 1 problem, you did not show what "document" you are copying from or where to find that "document". I have watched the video several times but cannot for the life of me figure out where you are copying the info from before pasting it in. Any help you could provide would be fantastic! Thanks again

Hey Andrew! For some reason when I follow the steps it says ' the customizable template does not exist'. I've tried both the json and the liquid files. Does it matter which we use?
Hi Kachiri! It is the same process as with text. Step 1: From Shopify UI Elements Generator choose dropdown select. i.imgur.com/8hqQJ8W.png Paste the code where you want it to be shown. Step 2: Repeat the Step 1, but this time choose i.imgur.com/Yx92NxZ.png Paste the code where you want it to be shown, and that should be it. Tell me how it went! Cheers!

Hi Andrew, I bought a theme called Broadcast and for some reason, I do not see "{% section 'product' %}" when I create a new template. I also don't see "product-template.liquid" in my sections. Will you help me please? thank you!

Hi Andrew, This looks like the solution I am in need of and it seems very clear to implement. I would like to ask, Is it possible to make a single template with 20 custom fields, but only enable the required fields per product? If the above is not possible, then I would need to create around 50 different templates for different product types. Thanks!
@@EcomExperts I'm using booster theme at the moment . I purchased some themes off etsy. When i add the coding it doesn't set up properly. The steps in your video aren't the same. There isn't a type= submit so I don't know what to do now and I really like this theme cause I got a lot for a good price

When I add a new template I do not get the same screen as all the videos im watching, and when I add one with what the page lets me, it doesn't have any code on the new template. HELP!

Fantastic videos Andrew. I’m in the process of building a store with a friend and I had a question that I hoped you could help answer. Would it be better from an SEO and ads perspective to have a product for each colour variant? We want to sell watch straps, we will only start with 14 products but each product has around 4 colours and several sizes. So I am wondering what you think would be a better strategy to start out with? One product and several variants in it, or one product per colour and size variants in each colour? Maybe I’m I’ve thinking it but when I go to Google I see one brand with multiple listings when they have multiple products for each colour and the others brands with one colour and multiple variants get less listings which makes me think a colour per listing could lead to more traffic and more sales. Hi Tina! In case you want this to work on Debutify with all products: Don't create separate templates, just add the code from Shopify UI Elements Generator to product-template.liquid snippet :)
This was so helpful! Thank you. One thing though, when when I was finished two versions of the listing displayed on the product page. The old one without the customization and the new one with the customization box. What have I done wrong?

After I saved everything n went to my website it gave me this message “Liquid error; Error in tag ‘section’. Product customizable template is not a valid section type. Can you please help. Thank you
You have a large amount of commenters asking you WHERE you copy the code into the product-customizable-template from and you never answer. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of the video and you literally cut it out! Why would you not show this? Sooo annoying!

Yes there is but that's realy not something I can explain on a "plug & play" RU-vid video unfortunately. At this point you got to bite the bullet and get a dev involved OR get an app with the feature - We reviewed a couple that offer this. Hope this helps :)
When I select Add new template, the dialogue box looks different. It asks to select template type, either JSON or liquid. I am using the Dawn theme. Which type should I select?

Hello, I added a custom checkbox, however it does not show in the carts line items. Is there something else that needs to happen to include it in the cart and the customers email?

WoW excellent information. I have a product with variants but I don't like that when i enter the page the image of the first variant is preselected. Is there a way to choose a photo other than the variants?

Hi Andrew, thank you for the thorough tutorial. I am using the "Express" theme and cannot locate any where within the customisable product template code, created under Sections, to add the Form Field code. Would you mind please taking a look and suggesting where I can paste the Form Field code? Thanks in advance :)
I think this is related to my question as well. I'm using the Prestige Theme and am unable to locate the place to add form code. I though it was just me.
OK! Express is a little bit different so instead of searching for add to cart button try searching for {% render 'product-form', . Place the code right above it and it should work.
Unfortunately for different pricing you'll need to use one of the apps. We reviewed Bold product options and Infinite Options by ShopPad and both of them are amazing solutions. There are also some free options like Infinite Product Options by HulkApps. :)
Thanks so much Andrew! I have the Icon theme and I can't find the type="submit" section. I pasted it above button and it appeared on my website, however now none of my other variants work (e.g. selecting a size (small, medium, large) and the add name section appears down the bottom of the page. Thanks again if you can help!
Is there an update to this or something? When I go to add a new template I get a completely different option and it does not work as shown in this video.
