Great guitars, good luck with yours. I own an R8 myself, it is my #1 and the best guitar I ever played. I tried R8-R9 and R0 and the R8 did it all for me. The neck is fat, it works best for me.
Gorgeous!!! The top doesn't go crazy but in certain angles, this one took off. The VOS standards are guitars I personally haven't play all that much but just played one and really liked it.
I just played on today at Butler Music in Harrisonville, Missouri. Definitely the fattest neck I've ever played, I don't have massive hands so I passed on it. Those 1959 reissues are gorgeous though.
Beautiful guitar. That is the guitar of my dreams. Gibsons are a quality maker, but there is variance between guitars. I have picked some of them and you think “this is the best guitar I have ever played”, most others have been, like “where’s the MOJO?” For the money I would need to KNOW that it’s the one! Sounds like you found a great one!
I just took delivery on one of these, also a ‘22 VOS. Mine came with scratches on the cutaway, near the controls, and on the headstock. I assume they come from the dealer. I don’t see anything like that on yours here in the vid. Did your’s come with any scratches?
IM NOT EASY TO PLEASE, AND THAT TOP IS PERFECT FOR A 58 ALOT HAD THAT MARBELY GRAIN THAT IMO PEOPLE DONT TALK ABOUT AS MUCH....IM GONNA GO GET SOMETHING SIMULAR GOT A BEAUTIFUL 57, THAT IS JUST A 10 BUT THAT ONE GIVES OFF SAME VIBE!
Slight wierd gap between Rythym pickup ring and neck. Never seen that before - maybe its the angle of the camera. Nice geetar though. I have a 2020 just VOS no murphy
Congratulations, what a guitar! I didn’t hear her weight. I’ve been ruined as well and now share my pillow with a ‘21 VOS R8 Lemon Burst plain top, perfect ‘58 weight of 9.2#. She convinced me to snag her older sister, a ‘22 R4 VOS at a bit sveltier 8.2#, the 7th Lester I’ve ever owned. First was a Gibson Heritage Standard ‘80 Elite I bought in ‘83. If I may reiterate, these are the schnitzel and if you don’t want to spend this kind of dough on a Les Paul, never look at, hold or let alone play one.
That is a beautiful looking guitar I love the colour and not to flashy finish, I'd be very proud to own it, I notice there is no binding bleed some say they like it I don't mind a little but not when it goes pink, my 2008 R8 CS ice tea is also beautiful with no binding bleed and feels and plays really good, well as good as my ability goes. I hope you get years of pleasure with it.
There is a 2022 full gloss(non NOS non Murphy) R8 for sale in mint condition at a really good price that i may pull the trigger on? I really wanted a R9 VOS or light aged ML but they are over $6K! Right now i have a 2022 standard in iced tea burst and a 50's tribute goldtop and while i do love them i have wanted a original 1959 burst or good copy for years now. This may be the closest i get to own something like one. The R8 weighs 8.5lbs and has the full gloss and new hardware(which is a bummer because i prefer the VOS look) but not a deal breaker. My goldtop has the fat 50's neck shape so that is not a issue.
hand made a les Paul like this one, similar top hand carved maple cap,all the correct finishings,,tulip keys ,,so on,,neck angle was off by a degree,,but was fun to finish ,all supplies under 600 I'd guess, this guitar looks like a player,,enjoy
Super cool. Can you leave it on a wall hook for a month in a room with sun and see if these actually fade. I heard they have the red aniline dye that fades. Maybe it will turn into a lemon burst
