His ability to 2rax rush, get scouted, micro his SCVs and marines perfectly, and just play a normal game is unrivaled. The only reason for him not to " macro 2 proxy rax" is Dark could try to hard-counter it with a roach or speedling opener.
These were some of the best games I've seen from Maru, ever. He just showed us he isn't just two base all in or 3 rax cheese. THIS is the Maru we've been missing; the mind games he played with Dark by doing specific tactics vs DRG so Dark HAS to respect its possibility vs him, is next lvl mind fking To me, Dark is Vegeta to Maru's Goku: they're made for each other and always give the best matches
@@nyambe I thought for sure Dark won game 3 looking at supplies. but Maru clawed it back fights went well for hellbat + thor, the ghosts didn't even arrive yet! snipe is so cost effective
@@wang122122 also the tvz's from Maru are usually super long and I think it's much harder and demanding for the Terran to not f.ck it up in the endgame. I think if the finals in Valencia would have been hold a day later, Maru would win there aswell. But he had already a super long and exhausting day(against Reynor) while Dark could finish his Games usually much faster.
@@Fedi222 yep agree, my comment has some points that are not that accurate so I deleted. Your point about Valencia is as same as mine. Some also say that letting bunny through is a gift from Maru cuz they were teammates back then, at least top 4 prize money higher.
@@alexkidd4035 you don't get it. Maru lost to Bunny so that he can play DRG. During the DRG series, he 2 base all in 3 games in a row. Which means Dark cannot ignore the possibility that Maru will do 2 base all in, but Maru then proceed to play turtle Terran. That's what Artosis said.

He probably has his own custom hokey for pretty much all production building and units with ability. Everything in the first ability can just be QWER if you choose it to be
Maru's mind game against Dark really works well. Playing DRG with two bases timing attack in a row does deter Dark quick greedy expansion. This also reduces the chance of being killed by massive banelings because Maru turtling at some timing is vulnerable to massive banelings. In the map hardwire, Maru has 8 more tanks in the mid game cuz he wants to prevent that from happening. Remeber that WTL last year, Rouge beated Maru with massive banelings in a row, it is so impossible to hold. This time Maru does a good job and plays extremely a versatile style.
Maru getting wrecked by Rogue made me angry, but clearly he's learned from it. He's also learned from Dreamhack Valencia recently where in the finals he actually lost to Dark if I remember correctly. Revenge must be sweet and he who laughs last laughs loudest.

@@alfriesmacdonalds5879 If they were imba every terran would be using them successfully, and top terrans would be winning tournaments (including premier) all the time, on the back of the imba ghosts. But it's not the case, is it? Only Maru can use ghosts so effectively, everyone else is much less proficient with them. Lurker/vipers were imba for long time, and still are vs every terran who's not Maru, and multiple zerg players (not just one) were winning most of the tournaments. I think this make these units deserve nerfs, more so than ghosts which are only imba in the hands of one player.
When we all admit that Terrans Iron Bank is just too strong? Maru is an amazing player. Probably the best Terran. But should the best Terran be beating one of the best Zergs after being behind both economically and army value? The games supposed to be balanaced. Maru shouldnt have the tools to make a 100 supply 5k/5k comeback.
he didnt have a whole lot left, hes was mining on his last base, and Maru still have another base to mine out. Dark couldnt hold that 3 oclock base was why he tapped out.
Solid? He's basically top 3 for like couple years and possibly best zerg at the moment. His style was beating Maru's mech+ghost comp late last year more often than not and he repeated that with the win at DH Valencia.
@@rickyj3921 solid doesn't show how good or how bad he is. The word "solid" means he constantly put up good performance in a very stable manner. Top 4 Zerg doesn't means you're solid. Look at Rogue, many people including Maru said that Rogue is the best Zerg player, and what is the problem with him? His performance is unstable, he won GSL last season and he got eliminated at round 24 this season. That is not solid at all.

Dark is not just an above average player, he's top tier Zerg. So it wouod be more appropriate to say something along the lines of: "Big win for Maru. Dark has been looking unstoppable in TvZ."
Game 1 was absolutely insane...it feels like the cast expected it to be over way sooner and ran out of energy well before the game was actually decided, because Maru was truly hanging by a thread down the stretch, but it feels like if Tastosis knew that they'd have added much more excitement to this crazy situation

Tactics of Z are broken again and again,his coal and gas are gradually died down and troops could not be renewed,but the opponent is on the rise in almost all respects.
Dark shouldnt go to late game style zerg with Ultras or Broodlords. Keep it simple and keep poking with low tier and dont allow to expand. He did it right in both the games but couldnt resist to tech up to broodlords which eventually plays in to Marus hand.
Wow, Dark controls ghost ... The day someone breaks Maru meck-ghost is not too far, which is very exciting. I'm Maru fan but always interested in how he fails then morph to new styles. It just so happens that zerg is the most broken race at the moment, and probably still in the foreseeable future. There's a reason why zerg has won the most tournaments in the past 5 years. The irony is that for years Protoss and Terrans had to beat Zerg before they hit late game, otherwise it was too difficult to kill the zerg. But now, when playing against Maru, it seems the Zerg has to kill Maru before late game. Zerg has all the tools necessary to kill Maru before that point, it's just a matter of time. But anyways, whining about balance is pointless when the game is dead. Just enjoy the game for what it is like the rest of us.
Sure crybabies. Yeah Terran late game is too strong. Nerf the ghost sure. But give us some mid game buffs and make our timing attacks worth something. At least against zergs. It’s ridiculous that zerg can defend almost every timing that Terran does with just lings and queens.
Well, they just can't defend, if they go maximum greedy in order to punish late game Terran. It is clearly imbalanced. You need to bring a huge brain to win and probably next time, they will know how to evade the big brain move.
Yeah, nerf ghosts. The only good lategame unit of terran. And thats because a single player worldwide can control them along the rest of his army. Nobody talks about infestors which got nerfed and still destroy your army with fungals or erase your thor count with neurals. The raven is already useless in lategame. Lets nerf the second spellcaster of terran.

Does anyone feel like fungal needs a little love against ghosts in particular? Kind of crazy how the only way to beat ghosts is with ghosts. EMP radius is so big after the upgrade that there's no chance to land a fungal unless you catch the Terran off guard. Played a game last night against a 5400 Terran and was literally smacked by ghosts, though my control was terrible. After losing all my infestors energy time and time again to emps. I finally hailmarryd 80 supply of banelings only to be body blocked by 4 thors and perfect splits. :'( it was the first time in years where I was completely demoralized I could literally taste how bitter I was feeling. All this aside, my opponent was by far the better player, but I wish he just tried killing me instead of sitting in his base with his 15 ghosts, Thor's, and tanks waiting for my futile attempts at breaking his fortress until the entire map was mined out and my bank exhausted...
As a spectator, ghosts do seem overpowered. They counter too many things, I feel like snipe should only be effective vs ultras OR broodlords, not both. The fact that one unit can counter all zerg spellcasters and T3 is a bit ridiculous.
@@hsk1778 Raven wasnt seems OP unitl Maru massing it against Zerg, then it got nerfed into oblivion. Now Ghost, who has been around for YEARS, are looking great with Maru massing them around, and you want it to be nerfed as well?
