Since the first version was released in 1987, Kawasaki have advertised the KLR650 as the one bike to do everything. Kawasaki say the touring-hungry dual-purpose machine will eagerly travel long distances, while offering the versatility to accommodate off-road as well as the daily commute.
They also claim the 2022 KLR650 offers a riding position for terrific all-day-comfort, plenty of carrying capacity, an efficient engine and a large fuel tank for extended time between fill ups. It is as happy on a 10-minute run to the supermarket as it is on a 10-day cross-country tour. With a 21-inch front wheel and plenty of suspension travel, the KLR650 should strive in off-road situations.
For the 2022 KLR650, a change to fuel injection offers a claimed increase in reliability and fuel efficiency. A new fuel tank design that minimises residual fuel volume, numerous strengthened parts and increased riding confidence when carrying luggage, reduced vibrations and increased generator capacity contribute to improved reliability and ride comfort.
Both intake and outlet cam profiles have been revised, improving mid- range torque characteristics. Stronger cam chain guide material and shape contributes to reliability. Updates to the clutch (clutch release bearings have been changed from ball bearings to thrust-needle bearings)and transmission (revised 3rd gear dogs and shift fork) have been made to allow for the KLR to be an easier ride.
The rear frame is now integrated with the main frame to form a stronger skeleton for the bike, along with this, the swingarm was extended by 30mm. The swingarm pivot shaft diameter was also increased from 15mm to 17mm. Changes to the suspension were also made with front and rear suspension strokes increased to 200 mm and 185 mm, respectively, which Kawasaki say favours favour on-road riding performance while enabling off-road excursions.

Great review as you get the thing that is a klr. I am biased ,as I own a klr ,but most reviewers don’t really get what they are about and try and compare them to high end adventure bikes. My 2014 klr has been places most high end adventure bikes will never go. 😊

Considering buying a KLR as my next bike and this was a great, honest review. I haven't seen another vid as straightforward in talking about a bike as this one!

I picked up my 2023 KLR 650 adventure last week and have been riding it everyday. It’s been very forgiving for a new rider. The poor suffering transmission……😅

It's a really good bike, definitly the best out of the big three, KLR XRL DRZ. It is a tad bit slower but you'll end up probably going faster on it, when you get there. And it's wildly good going 50MPH. thanks

I think this bike looks really cool. I like a basic bike. I've got an SCR950. Back to the KLR: the neatest place I've ever seen a toolkit stashed. I was wondering what the lock was on the rack. What a great bike. I wish I could fit those panniers on my SCR. Maybe I could. Seasonal greetings. Pommy Nick.

How would you know if it overheated? It doesn't have a temp gauge. Plus, why would they get rid of the temp gauge? Was it part of the Eurotrash 5 regulations? Or a cost cutting thing? It couldn't have been that much more to add goodies like temp gauges.

Even though this bike is a LAMS, would it really be OK as a first bike for a learner? I'm around 6 foot 3 and 120kg so I need a bigger bike. It might be overkill? Just thinking about this one or the Honda CB500X, I'm wanting something that I can just chug around on, backroads, the dirt tracks, that sort of thing.

It would be perfect given your stature. You'd feel cramped on the little CB. The smoothness of this bike will give you confidence in a short matter of time.

@thesteveus
@thesteveus 6 месяцев назад
@@JarradDRS Very comfortable for my height & weight, I actually got heavier suspension springs in mine too to allow for my weight. Not sure how the stock suspension goes, but the upgrades weren't really expensive anyway. Also got a metal bash-plate, the stock one is plastic, barkbusters, extra crash bars, and better foot pegs. I'm told the stock foot pegs are just bits of metal wrapped in rubber and they are no good, again, I never tried them, just got the extras fitted before I took delivery.
