Get yourself a tungsten plate for the oil pan weight. It's about 1.7x denser than lead. Can probably eliminate the swingarm and the battery bay weight and keep the added weight below the CG of the bike and well below the yaw axis of the bike and below the axles.
This was a joy to watch. I bought a 2021, and I've been coming up with a race build. I checked your video to compare... BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD FOR ME! lol
I really wanna say thank you for making this video and killing it in the moto America. Literally went out and got this baby a couple weeks later been the best investment I have ever made. can’t wait to hit up the track.
Love the channel for sure!! Glad to see another pro racer besides Josh Herrin trying this RU-vid thing out for us to peek inside your world. Great content and look forward to seeing you race this season! Those DiBrino logos on your suit look killer!!
Not only liked but subscribed and notifications ON. Great stuff, looking forward to the next video. I have 2020 duke r, and is awesome to see videos showing the full potential it can get achieved on this bike.
Thanks! I’m excited to put out another video when it’s basically finished. Still waiting for some parts. It’ll be like 99% done next video. Dang Covid has made it hard to get stuff. Might even build an engine and see if we can get 130hp out of the bike. I just had it on the Dyno yesterday and it was 118hp
@@andydibrino actually i have a 790 duke & wish to fit the wp apex pro 7115 damper which is available for the 1290 superduke r The mounting points remain the same for the 890 &;790 Just don't wanna waste my money Hope it fits Mounting point remains same for 790 &;890r As well as the stock damper part numbers by KTM
Would love to get a chance to ride the RC8 C. We will see. I rode the Kramer version that it’s based off of and that bike was amazing. As fast as 600s and the chassis was incredible. If I can’t get on the RC8 C, you’ll likely see me ride it’s nearly identical twin Kramer
So as someone exposed to KTM have you heard of the development of a larger displacement RC line bike coming out? I’m thinking it makes sense for them given their brand posturing around road sport bikes and the the development they’ve already put into the RC8C to de-tune and finally satisfy the demand for a slightly larger sport bike (especially given the test mule spotted). In that regard they’ll also further maximize the ROI on the LC8 engine given the likely unveiling of a 990 Duke category. Thoughts?
Solid Performance. Give them a call and they can give you better details if you’re interested in having work done to your stuff. Internally I don’t know exactly what they did. Spring rate wise, I’m at 9.5 fork springs and 160 rear shock spring.
Has your Matris Steering damper leak any fluids? I put one on my 890 Duke r ( not race replica) and after a neighborhood test ride it leaked on my fender and around the seal (rod bearing end).
@@andydibrino you said the bike’s weight was 370 after the mods at the KTM dealer. What I meant was that it should have been much lighter given those first mods. Since the stock weight is already 365.
Andy! Love your riding. Its been great watching the moto america series!! Question for you - Do you have any thoughts on the Duke 390, are they as capable (of course not as fast) but is suspension and flow of the bike similar? Recently bought a Husqvarna "Svartpilen" 401 (same as duke 390) and wanted to know if you had any insight about this bike? Looking to do trackdays and ride off road!
Nice quick/short/thorough video summaries. How the heck did ya' get the bolt heads on the Rottweiler intake plate that sandwiches the filter to go all the way in? When I do that, the screws hit the inside of the intake. Its crazy how you guys have to add so much weight in that class. Messaged Eric about a tune file last week. Hopefully he can get me squared away. We'll have very similar setups.
saw the left finger doing some work coming into he corners. Do you prefer the feel of using the clutch over using the oem auto-blip? if so are you pulling in and downshifting to the desired gear (ie. 4 to 2) or are you rev matching each gear (ie. 4 to 3 to 2)? lastly, did you install a slipper clutch or just letting her eat? (sorry if you've answered these questions already. if that's the case just show me where to find em) . Thanks man!
One cannot talk enough about KTM 👌🏽 I’ve been inspired by my 890R and started a series but it’s even more inspirational to see someone on the track dominating!
Does the traction control do anything at 1-2? WS on a couple of uk tracks in the last few days at 4 tc, didn’t really feel intrusive but bike wouldn’t really wheelie. Wheelie control off. ??
Wheelie control off, and yes 1-2 TC still will save you in some instances. I will run a little TC in morning sessions if the temps are cooler. But most of the time Tc is off
I'm curious, And I dont know if you can answer it or if someone knows the answer but: Is that suit given by KTM? I race the same bike, and I would love to have a suit matching that style.
I have 2 styles, one that lifts the bottom of the fork legs, and one that goes in the triple clamp stem hole (you have to take an 8mm bolt out and move the brake lines out of the way for it). Both are made by woodcraft. I prefer the one that lifts the fork legs better than the triple clamp. If you’re working on your bike for extended periods of time and need to take off your forks, the triple clamp stem is probably a better stand. If you are doing track days, you’ll want the other style
Hey Andy, how do you rate the Pilot stock tires? I understand you're a top level racer, myself being a mid level wanna be :) I like DOT race tires and love slicks but I am thinking about just doing track days. Additionally, have you done any Dyno tuning or are you just using the Akro map? Anxiously awaiting the deliver of my '22 890 Duke R !!
I’d rate them as decent for using up on a track day. But I’d recommend upgrading to Dunlop Q4’s or Slicks after you use them up. Slicks are always best if you’re fast enough to keep heat in them! I ran the Akrapovic map for a while on my 2020 and it was good, but doing a Power Commander 5 and full tuning is way better. Check out my new video I just posted Dyno tuning the bike and you’ll see what I did
It’s dialed. It is really sensitive though, so if you’re lazy with your foot and it touches the shifter tip, it may briefly cut power thinking you’re trying to shift. So I’m just a little extra diligent with my foot work when I’m not actually trying to shift so I don’t touch that shifter tip. I think it works great so I’m not planning on changing it out
I havent seen any mapping available that makes a real difference, maybe 5 hp. Do you have ant inside info that help this bike a solid 10 hp. For the average rider spending money on exhaust, intake, mapping with powercommander and only get 5 hp isnt much for the money. Imo
5hp is a pretty good jump actually, but there isn’t anything out there without pulling a motor apart and messing with cams, flywheels, and port work that’s going to get what you’re asking.
Not everything, but a lot of stuff. I really like the Galespeed 17mm master. The stock one just doesn’t have the feel I like. I don’t like the shape and feel of the lever and it just feels numb all around no matter what setting it’s on.
Hi guys. I brought the standard 890 duke and want to upgrade the rear shock to the apex pro. Wondering if the frame is the same as the R model ? Will it fit ok ?
Go pro handlebar mount, with a custom 3D printed GoPro mount adapter that the Aim bolts to. Look up Martino Designs. It’s handy because I use that lap timer on multiple bikes, and I can literally just pop it off like a go pro and put it on various bikes.
That is a S2 concepts race plate that replaces the stock light. You just unbolt/ unplug and slap this on. You will get an HLU code but it doesn’t affect anything.
This makes sense why the Indians were keeping up with you at Daytona. You had to add weight to the god damn bike lol, otherwise you would have smoked the whole lineup.
It doesnt make sense to race the 890 against the Indian FTR1200... I dont get it. The whole advantage of the 890R is the weight to power ratio and its agility compared to the Indian. It seems these races are biased at letting the FTR win, when a fully unrestricted 890R tuned for the track is the real winner. I've ridden both and prefer the KTM but I do appreciate the FTR as its American trying to be European bike. I just dont think the weight rule is fair by any means and its definitely a marketing strategy for Indian. 1290 Super Duke would thrash all these bikes honestly.
