The 2022 KTM300EXC is by far the best enduro bike I've ridden. I've been on 300's since 2008 and I love the big two strokes. This year is the smoothest motor and the best handling chassis so far, but you can always make it better with some dialing in and careful set up.
This is what I have done to get my bike ready for the New Zealand #hardenduro championship.
Massive thanks to the following companies for helping with the build.

@chris great video, all solid suggestions. You mention the power valve mod to smoothen the power curve, could you clarify how you set it up? Thanks!

protect the rear stock mount on the swingarm. plastic mudguard will rub the aluminium on the swingarm and the swingarm will break. I think this issue came 2020 and newer models. One way to fix this is to put a wheel weight sticker on the swingarm where the mudguard rub it. Poor design from KTM, luckily its an easy and cheap fix. It is a vital long term fix if you arent sponored with new bike each year.

Hey Chris ... what colour Power Valve Spring are you running? & have you swapped over the Bendix / Starter motor bushings to XRC brass ones? Are you comfortable not to have a kick starter .... and have you changed over the lithium battery from the battery which came standard?
@ChrisBirchNZ
@ChrisBirchNZ 3 года назад
Still the stock one at the moment, I've ordered a green one to try. I'm running the XRC bushings, I forgot to mention that, sorry Kelly
@ChrisBirchNZ

And stock battery, I'm happy without the Kickstart. I haven't used one since 2017.

@@ChrisBirchNZ Thanks Chris for replying. That's good to know about you not choosing to have a kick starter .... I often ride on my own so haven't had the courage to not have a kick starter on my bike - more my own mindset than anything else. Would you be willing to do a little summary on the difference's of the power valve springs and why / what settings you would use for Yellow or Green springs in relation to Hard Enduro? TIA Scott

I like to run a lot of rebound, I find if the bike is too bouncy I get knocked off balance a lot on bigger compressions. Like on the back sides of logs, big rocks, drops or holes, it just feels to Bucky.

The Xplor fork that comes standard with the ktm/husqvarna/GG group is a shit punctured on a stick, you can say and nothing happens.

Great video Chris! About the handlebar position. It looks you are running in the second hole in the xtrig clamps and brackets rotated backwards. Can u confirm this? It seems a common pro setting on that. Also, footpegs: std? Not any lower like the mx pegs? Or even lower?
@ChrisBirchNZ
@ChrisBirchNZ 3 года назад
Your correct on the clamps. I played around with the position. For me they felt more comfortable further forwards but the front end started deflecting off rocks and roots etc. Footpegs are stock for now. I've got some SX pegs on order. I can't bring myself to spend raptor money!

Yeah should have waited for you to sort your flywheel weights, the one i made spun, grub screws couldnt handle it.
@ChrisBirchNZ
@ChrisBirchNZ 3 года назад
That sounds messy. I'm making them a slight interference fit and they seem to stay in place. I want to get a few more hours of testing in to be sure though.

Why was there a return cable on the throttle, neither of my 3 KTM 2-strokes ever had one, is this new to TPI’s?
@ChrisBirchNZ
@ChrisBirchNZ 3 года назад
yes, it came out with the first tpi models.
@stevenllewellyn8906
@stevenllewellyn8906 3 года назад
Lot of guys complain about a hard throttle twist and they disconnect the one cable to make it lighter/smoother. They make block off kits for it. I don’t have an issue on my 22’ TE300i but I came off a dinosaur 00’ yz250
