Love this new NX! Currently my favorite new crossover & looks great in blue, but I would go for a red one with that red interior. I currently drive a white on red 2016 Lexus GS350 F-Sport which has been an amazing car for the past couple years I've been driving it. Not sure if I'll ever upgrade to a crossover. I've purchased five vehicles so far (all sedans), but this would be my top pick for sure as of now!
Excellent review as always. I'm revisiting the NX since the RX is beyond more budget as nice as the 2023 model is and the Toyota Venza is not fun to drive. Run flat tires may make the ride firmer aside from the 20 inch wheels. Thanks for this review. It's very timely.
I've never owned a Toyota but getting the luxury trim in the form of the Lexus lineup is a great start. I'm waiting for the RX with a bigger motor and larger size to lug around 5 adults.
@@naveenthemachine thanks for the advice but I never trust the quality on Hyundai, Kia or any other Korean-related vehicles. Nothing beats Japanese reliability and pride they put into their workmanship and designs.
@@mr.tuckers2848 Korean cars have come a long way. It hasn’t been all roses for Toyota reliability. Especially here in Australia, the hilux had so many issues with DPFs. Don’t forget hyundai and KIA offer 7 year unlimited km warranties…whilst for such a long time Toyota could only offer 3.
@@mtadc1545 what bothers me is that if Kia or Hyundai's reliability has improved why offer a longer warranty period? That alone even makes me feel more insecure about their products.
I have the NX450h+. It has some random rattles still so it isnt a pre production thing. Also it has shaky driver side mirror. It has technica hiccups with CarPlay and also the qi charger. If it wasn’t for the drive train with the plug-in and getting lucky to get it, I would wait a year or two till they address the production issues and complaints about not feeling luxurious.
Wow, that's unfortunate about the rattles. I'm gonna wait til they offer the 450h+ with Mark Levinson and a pano roof. I was informed by the dealer they may start adding those options pretty soon, or at least announce them for next model year (June)
I bought the same one! I have so many hiccups with the tech! 😒 CarPlay, volume sometimes doesn’t work, my apps sometimes freeze. Ughhh I was sooo excited about the infotainment system but it has so many glitches!! 🙄🙄
Can someone explain how this compares with the 2024 Tesla Model Y? They are about the same price. Does the Lexus have better drive quality? or is Tesla the better value?
I love your reviews. I have driven both the hybrid and plug-in hybrid of this model and I really liked it. I thought the brakes felt weird though, and when I put what I wanted on the car it ended up feeling way too expensive for what you get. The materials inside feels super cheap even in the luxury package. It's insane that they use piano black for example.. I would love to see you review the Audi A6 Avant TFSIE plug-in hybrid! It's one of my favorite cars I've ever driven, but slightly out of reach price wise here in Europe.
Wow, how did they mess up the lane tracing? It works well in my IS. Wife and I were considering picking one of these up as a family car, but I can't help but feel she wouldn't like the steering wheel buttons. I wouldn't either. I use cruise control often when I'm driving long distances. Say what you will about those cruise control stalks in Toyota/Lexus, but they are very responsive! I do really like the style of the interior and exterior, though, as well as the new touchscreen.
The buttons on the non heads up display version is better. No touch sensitive crap, and the cruise control buttons are better placed. The lane tracing on mine works better than his tester model
Chris, I think those are run flat tires mounted to those 20" rims. BTW I am still waiting for a coherent explanation as to why the NX 350h needs Premium for its 2.5 powertrain to generate 5 hp less than the Sienna and Highlander 2.5 generate with Regular.
I kinda have an idea that Toyota has some stake in some oil companies or just don’t want EVs to succeed, given how conservative they are. That could be why they recommend or require premium in some cars that likely don’t need it. And as you know they were also way late to the EV game.
@@garrettw99 this is a really bad take. If there was some Toyota big oil conspiracy they wouldn’t have led the way with Hybrids many years ago. Do you also believe the moon landing was faked and the earth is flat?
I really don’t know how to feel about the interior of this new NX. While it has a better infotainment system over the old, the interior, particularly the dash looks like such a downgrade from the first gen. The old one used to have a layered, faux leather dash, which was neatly stitched. It was unique and you knew you were in a car which had it’s interior design thought through. Oh, and the physical buttons felt heavy and nice to press, knobs buttery smooth. Now, the dash looks like a typical Toyota! It’s as if they focused all their attention on the infotainment and exterior and completely disregarded the interior.
@@naveenthemachine It really is disappointing. As you said, luxury is special, bespoke because it should be a step up from the mainstream. I think the cars that currently can somewhat serve that idea in the Lexus lineup are the ES, LS and LC. Otherwise, they are really not doing themselves justice, PARTICULARLY in the interior department. I can close an eye on the exterior and powertrains (I never found the 2.0 turbo lacking of power), but the interior, the thing that cocoons you through your drive, that is the sole thing that gives lasting impressions. It’s what you touch and see 90% of the time with your car. And if that is not up to par, it’s hard to be satisfied with what you’ve spent your hard earned money on.
@@desmondliao Yes, that is likely true, especially with the younger generation and their tech-driven proficiency. But then again, comparatively to other manufacturers, they have very good technology AND great looking/feeling interiors. Not even looking at the European competition, Kia, Hyundai, Cadillac, Lincoln to name a few all have interiors that surpass that of Lexus. Toyota’s conservative mindset is showing far too prominently in Lexus, the new NX is a perfect example of that.
@@naveenthemachine alright then prove why the gv70 is far superior than others. If reliability is not a factor for some, would should they go for the gv70 but not the glc or q5. Your comment does not make sense at all. The new nx is a solid car imo regardless of the gv70 looking fancier but I would rather have people bashing me for having an overpriced rav4 than an overpriced Tucson
More wind noise, more rolling noise, a downgrade in interior quality. Does it sounds like a real premium? Is it realy better than a Toyota in soundproofing? Does it worth the relative upper price? I have serious doubts. it's notorious that they built it cheapper or bling, only watching the video. I prefer the older model in a basic trim, even with the steering wheel angle a bit " like a truck".
Toyota sheeps will buy it in herds anyways so why bothering investing some money and lower their cash grab. Far superior cars are sold for less money than this but in far less numbers. Toyota is McDonald's of car makers.

People will say I know this Toyota is sht compared to competition but lasts longer! Like how do you know? Did you come from the future or the paid organizations like JD Power made you believe it lol
I understand Lexus makes amazingly reliable vehicles, yet usually they feel outdated in one way or another due to lack of tech. But tech does not define how great a vehicle is. Lately I've been desiring one as a daily. Nice, smooth, quiet, and you know it'll run and drive every time. Sometimes that's all you need.
@@naveenthemachine you misunderstood my comment. I meant that ADAS are tech, and that ADAS do play a major role when qualifying a car. If in Lexus the front radar fails 3 times out of 10 in braking in a near front collision then it can be the most reliable engine but i will pass. Safety is first above all.
I am driving an older Lexus that has a lot of road noise at 60 mph your test seems to have the same amount of road noise Do you agree. enough to be a deal breaker? I love the car but if noisy in the cabin, not engine noise, I may pass what do you think?

Having to "touch the button before you press it" is a massive UI fail. The overloaded buttons is a super stupid idea that should never have been tried. If you need more buttons than the steering wheel can hold, you've made a mistake.
Does the F-Sport trim have the same understeer? I drove a NX250 and noticed the same understeer and abruptly decided that I’d forego the NX, in any trim, altogether rather than take a chance at buying an expense vehicle I couldn’t test drive and assuming the F-Sport changes would improve it.
Is this a press car? The color combo (Grecian Water Blue exterior and Rioja Red interior, luxury package chevron seats) is not available on the lexus website.

Great review on the new NX. I own the 2017 version 200 t F-Sport and may consider an upgrade. Also, you may want to upgrade your camera to make movements more steady so we don't see the up and down motion as you walk. Thanks!
So its not all that quiet plus the interior looks average. There is literally no point of getting this over a rav4 . The only lexus worth buying is es and rx. Gv70 destroys this in every way
Not a fan of massive touch screens in cars but otherwise it looks nice. They could move all of that silly info to the heads up display so you are never taking your eyes off the road. By now these media screens should be a thing of the past and it should be integrated only into the windscreen. You aren't supposed to be playing with screens you are meant to be looking out of the one in front of you.
