Enjoyed the video. Regarding Velo Kings rider on the corner. You were correct that he took the appropriate "race" line. The surprise was this happening while everyone took the "bad" race line throughout the race (based on what your camera caught). Always be prepared.
I clear out my Garmin every year so I likely don't have the fit file for this, but I do have the Strava activity handy which could shed some light on thing from a power perspective. www.strava.com/activities/7521773298/overview
You're in the Cat 4s. The "teams" aren't really teams. They don't know how to race as a team, racing as a team is very different than racing solo. In cat 4s everyone is at different levels and teammates don't know what to do. So you wont find solid team racing until the P12 level.
While that may be the case in other regions, I can only speak from my experience racing primarily in northern California. Team tactics occur in our 3/4 fields regularly, albeit with varying levels of quality. Many of the teams here (my team included) work to get a team win, not an individual win. I say this having been on the giving end and receiving end of the results of team oriented riding a few times this year. At times learning some hard lessons along the way which cost our team a chance at the win.
Throwing shade on teams for not working together, and when you see them working together, throwing shade for not doing it the way you think they should... cool story lol My boys did a great job and still got me on the podium.
Wow congrats to you and your team Ray. Well done. Looks like your teams lead out did work. I don't consider this "throwing shade" (criticism) or advice (saying how I think they should do it) This is me making observations. If I had said something like "Wow the go fast team have got it all wrong here, their train is late to the platform. They really screwed it up" that could be seen as criticism. or If I had said something like "The teams which where represented should have been throwing people off the front to establish a break." that could be labeled as advice. I did neither, I simply am making observations so myself and that others who ride in the 4/5 field can learn and become better bike racers. If your going to deem my observations as "criticism" or "advice" and get offended you might want to check your ego at the door.
