This little convertible sees minimal changes for 2022, but sometimes that's OK. The MINI Cooper Convertible retains its friendly looks and cheerful driving style. The circular headlights poke through the hood, the convertible roof features the Union Jack, and our John Cooper Works (JCW) test car offered plenty of quickness.

It’s a brilliant review.. I think you buy a Mini because of the reputation it has and as you said it’s fun .. Honda and VW are not as unique as a Mini .. Mini’s where ever they go the draw attention to themselves!!

I have 3 Min'is now, 2005 converable, 2017 converable and 2020 countryman, PSSS! they are all fast and will out beat alot of cars, including VW tin cans. This kid just needs to learn alot more about Mini-Coopers!

Great review. I have to disagree with the comment about size. I have a 2006 Cooper S Convertible which is smaller than the third generation. There is more than enough room for two people. I don't fit in a Miata but I have 4 inches of headroom in the MINI. The only time size is an issue (with 2 people) is the distance between the peddles with the manual. Wider shoes don't cut it for me. (again in a first generation MINI - it might be fixed in later generations when they got fat and would not be a problem for automatics. I have ridden in the back seat but I don't recommend it for humans with legs.

@@AuRowe that’s not true. My mothers countryman has had 0 issues in the 4 years she’s had it. All she does it have extra maintenance put on it. She has 75k mi and no issues. It’s literally people who don’t maintain it right say it’s unreliable.

The price tag is a bit too steep for a mini. For that money I can get something way more robust, even if in 2nd hand. Slash 10 or 5k from that price and then it seems reasonable

I have a 2023 JCW convertible in Rebel Green with Chesterfield malt interior....the car is simply amazing. Worth every penny.

i brought a JCW in march but covid delays i waited 9 months and after talking to them after getting no updates i got a call 2nd December that my JCW has now enter production and i'll get it by march

There are two things wrong with the JCW Convertible. 1. AWD 2. Manual 3. If you want to nit pick about 40 more horses and 40 more ft lb of torque and I would buy one tomorrow. We do own a 2018 Countryman S, and it is capable. 6pd Manual is a lot of fun

Vertible S 2017 here, its a magical car, problem is if you dont know mini as many of my friends do, this is never on the list, if you know mini, thats all you need!!!!

I have a 2022 jcw iconic. Also jcw clubman both hands down are fun cars. The convertable lacks some power hope the next generation is 300 hp

I tossed a Honda civic type R engine in a hardtop manual one of these, (v-TeC jUsT kiCkED iN yO!) because “mo powa baybeh”(-Donut Media) and it’s essentially become a rocket ship, what with 325 buff horses (also donut) under the interestingly shaped hood. Love the little details like the light ring and circle shaped door pulls and AC/HV vents. Serious aftermarket potential.

I have a 21 Convertible Red with Union Jack roof top. I get so many compliments on it. No issues love it. It is a rough ride though, but i didnt buy it for luxury comfort.

They are a lot of fun to drive but the reliability is questionable at best.

The reliability was "questionable at best" during the early years of the BMW takeover, the years of the problematic mini were a long stretch between 2006 and 2012. I had a 2006 until now and started having major electrical (ECM) Problems at 100,000 miles. I LOVE the mini and just traded it in for a 2022 mini s convertible. I have to tell you, what a MAJOR difference in interior quality and workmanship! It is SO much richer and luxurious BUT STILL has the same "slot car" feel and handling on the road! I adore it! Feel confident purchasing one and you'll love it too!!!!
