Gods, 2022 was a fantastic year. There have been a massive amount of great movies that I enjoyed watching and it's simply delightfully fantastic to see every single one *and* more being represented in this! Once again fantastic!
Absolute perfection. Was not emotionally ready for the Chasing Cars sequence at the end it hit really deep and the way you transitioned it into the final climax was just masterclass.
This is a great love letter to Cinema. Watching this made me feel pride and respect toward the amazing and creative works of all those people that works to creates those movies. And for you for making such and amazing trailer for this year of movies.
These are always incredible! Though it’s starts off creepier than is my usual jam and I feel like the percentage of films I know is going down and down each year I still appreciate the absolute artistry of this. I’m curious how you go about doing it, do you work on it over the year or wait til you have everything you’re going to use to decide how to put it all together?
November is when I get going and it takes about 4-6 weeks to put together. The most important thing is the music, it's at least 80% of it. When you have a banger, even a poor edit will come off fairly exciting. Then I start watching trailers and look for shots or lines and moments that speak to the music I chose. As I remember each, I can start making connections between those moments - Part 3 this year is about the movie Aftersun but it's also about The Whale and Resurrection and plenty of other films. The best thing that can happen is when one trailer will lend its voice to another movie that is perfect visually but could be lacking that perfect bit of dialogue. At first it's just little towers that I build around moments and eventually it becomes holes I need to fill. It's a giant puzzle every year, if I solve it easily you get a mashup in early December. But if I get stuck, you'll still get it by New Year's for sure.

Holy shit, this is incredible! I've been a fan since I came across your 2014 mashup, which is still my all time favourite compilation, but this was ridiculous - especially the horror intro. 10/10 editing.
