Have the 2022 rogue platinum.3000 miles so far so good.pretty quick.quiet good sound good tech.comfortable ride.very good overall value.i trade them in every 2 years.
I've had a 2013 Nissan Rogue SV for the past 6 years with 123,785 miles on it and if maintained right, these cars are amazing! I'm going to be trading it in for the 2022 Nissan Rogue SV AWD and this really helped! Thank you!
Nice to see a really big jump in hp and torque for the 2022 rogue. It really needed it. I would probably take it easy though on the 3 cylinder turbo for long term durability. It's a lot of pressure going into a small displacement engine.
Yes exactly. I think they could’ve kept the 2.5 and added more HP. But the 2.5 wasn’t good and when accelerating the whole suv would Shake. This 3 cylinder is much better the ride is definitely smoother
@@Iegend17 well a lot of manufacturers are going this way with smaller displacement engines (i.e ford and GM). I just feel like they aren't going to last 200k+ miles like a Toyota but honestly most people don't keep cars that long nowadays so as long as it's in warranty I don't see an issue with it.
Tip from someone that has driven a lot of these: Don't go full throttle. It puts the revs up near redline in the rev range where a small turbo has trouble operating. About half throttle here is best, keep it under ~5k RPM and it will feel quicker.
@@Iegend17 what? You can accelerate at half throttle where a thing call "d-step" (fake shifts) will take over. It will keep the rpm around 4,000-4,500 and that is the sweet spot on this engine. Right in the meat of the powerband. With the small turbo there is no power higher than 5,000 rpm.
@@JTube571 yes CVTs have fake shifting to make you feel like the car is shifting and no broken. A lot of people thought their car was broken because older CVTs didn’t have that fake shifting
@@JTube571 basically you're saying the turbo has the most power before 5k rpm which has nothing 2 do with the cvt lop. I get what you're saying. This engine is powerful enough below 5k rpm and there isn't a need 2 go higher than that.
Just got my 2022 SV and love it so far. I had a 2014 Nissan Altima that I traded with 168K miles that had no problems. Yep, no problems with the CVT. Do regular maintainance and dont drive it like you stole it and they will last. So will pretty much any car.
My daughter had a Geo Metro with a 1000cc 3 cylinder 5 speed. Had to turn off the AC to pull away from a stop light. I believe it had 55 hp. I have a 2018 Versa 1.6 4 cylinder, 5 speed, 109 hp which is adequate.
I drove a beautiful loaded Honda Prelude Si with the flip headlamps in a gorgeous bronze color that stickered used for $19,500 in '92! I paid $18,000 for mine in '93. It was worth every penny. No Geo Metro crap for me. Yes I'm bragging. 😀
I know and i LOVE the sound the engine produces. I just might look into an SL trim soon. My only caution is NOT buying a new car in it's first year. Especially, with a new power plant. It's best to wait a year or so until they've worked out any recalls etc...
I have a Nissan rogue 2017 every car have their problems dodge Toyota Nissan Chrysler jeep u name it just take care of the maintenance that’s it that’s all
It will be interesting to see how reliable this engine will be compared to Honda's 1.5t. The 6th gen CRV and 11th gen Accord is expected to have revisions carried over from the 11th gen Civic such as exhaust VTEC. Maybe these small changes have reduced the chance of oil dilution.
So I've had my 22 SV for a year and half and zero issues, I get over 30 mpg overall, plenty of power when you need it, smooth and quiet, quality build. My 22 doesn't have the stupid stop/start feature, but sad to say, the 23's do have it (has a defeat button of course). Stupid huh. Dollar for dollar, beats Rav4 and CR-V, it's main competitors. I didn't have to get the sunroof with my 22, I don't use it, don't want leaks or exploding glass issues.
the fake shifts are so annoying. maybe if they were a little softer and less noticeable i wouldn't mind. they totally have the software and hardware for it to just be a continuous rev like it's supposed to be, in fact it'd probably be better for the car.
I love all tbh and each one has their own personality. Sportage Rogue Rav4 The rogue can be little weird sometimes. Especially when accelerating hard. I guess cuz of the 3 cylinder engine. The rav4 has a weird design and even the interior is weird.
@@Iegend17 That's what's making it hard to decide. Rogue has the power but a cvt. Rav4 seems a little slow but it's not a turbo. Sportage doesn't get as good gas mileage. Ugh
That auto start/stop crap is annoying and 90% of customers probably don't like that option on cars/trucks. I have one one my Buick and didn't care of it....just deactivated.
I've had my '22 Rogue for a few months, have noticed an irritating "whirr" noise from under the hood, occurs after about 35 mph, not really noticeable after 60 or so due to wind/road noise. It is more noticeable upon letting off the gas from around 50 mph. Very annoying with no radio on, bearable with music on. I was wondering if anyone else has this same "whirr" on their '22...? My dealership said it is just inherent to this turbo with this CVT.
@Legend17 How does this compare to the 2021 2.5L one? Does the drive feel different with the extra 20/21hp, can't really tell from the video, but doesn't seem like too big a difference? Also, was Nissan able to remove the engine vibration that you get (when you push the pedal) on the 2021 model in this one?
Lol I mentioned what I think about the previous engine and this engine. Did you watch the video? Yes the engine vibration is gone. I noticed that a lot in the 2.5 but with this 1.5t there is non.
@@Iegend17 didnt watch the whole video yet, but thought i'd ask. Will watch for sure. I really liked the one you did on the 2021 Platinum and ended up getting one for myself. Have had it for over a year and am really happy with it. Great videos btw 👍🏻
No it needed this engine 2 improve epa numbers for missing. The 2.0 would reduce that and it didn't need a less fuel efficient option. It would also cost a few grand more also. Does your compact suv need 0-60 in 6 seconds? The tq is fine so I don't see most people even needing 2 floor it.
@@occckid123 the 21’ 2.5’s get 27/35mpg this supposedly gets 30/37 not really seeing the purpose for it. A lot of its competition offer more power somewhere in the lineup. Very good point though guess I figured they put it in the qx50 why not the rogue 😒. I know these automotive journalist will be bashing it saying it’s still weak that’s all 😒
@@NissanAltimaGuy 3mpg is a significant help in helping Cafe standards. Remember the rogue is nissans volume seller so it will help with that significantly. Only some offer more if you go hybrid though. Talking about standard engines it has the best gas mileage.
In Canada you have to go to at the SV model and shell out quite a bit more than just the S, in order to get the 3 cyl vc turbo engine. They seem to be dumping the old 2.5l engine on the Canadian market. Also, the SV here in Canada is made in Japan, with the VIN starting with J and the lower ones are all made in North America. Where I have no clue, but we all know that Japanese quality control is much better, so for people in Canada, get at least the SV model.
@@JIMMY-ck1oe I don't know. I know that in the USA you're not getting the 2.5L anymore at all, and they're all the new 1.5L VC Turbo which is better, but in Canada the S model still gets the 2.5L old enigne, and only the SV trim or up gets the VC Turbo in Canada. In Canada, also, all the ones with 2.5L are made in America, and the SV and up are made in Japan. But in the US, I don't know where they're made... What you do is look at the VIN and if it starts with J, then it's made in Japan.
@@JIMMY-ck1oe A turbo makes up for the small power a 1.5L normally could produce. Plus Nissan created a world's first: variable compression. Not to be confused with variable valve timing, which is old now. Variable compression is where the actual compression ratio has a range, instead of it being fixed. It's the only engine on the market that has this. The result is that the horsepower of the 4cyl had about 187 hp, and torque also 187 lb, the new 1.5L 3 cyl variable compression turbo produces 201hp and 225 lb. The acceleration becomes much better, and interestingly, the fuel consumption actually became better. Another interesting thing is that maximum acceleration happens at relative low rpm, so the engine doesn't have to go all bezerk. It really actually ends up feeling as if you have a V6 under the hood, but then much better fuel economy. Unless it's going to break, right now, it is the world's best gasoline engine hands down. Better numbers than Honda or Toyota even. The only better configurations are hybrids and plug in hybrids, but we all know that comes with a much higher price tag, dealers often don't have them available, and there are concerns what happens 8 years down the road with a possible battery problem (eg. would you buy an 8 year old hybrid right now? I wouldn't!)
I have the 2021 SV 2.5l with the premium package (sun roof, etc). I love it, except for a few annoying points that I just don't get. Why do they put the brown trim on the dash and door panels? I absolutely wish the premium package came with the key fob seat auto adjust and I think the paddle shifters are just plain dumb. Other than that, the vehicle is great.
@@26858306 2016 Soul lasted 90k miles engine blew up changed everything on time 2019 Kia lasted 100k then Transmission blew out I changed the fluid every 50k so I hate Kia but the New Rogue I love no issue and much smoother ride then the Soul!
Jatco CVT, 3 flimsy cylinders coupled with a turbo, in such heavy vehicle.... Hmm, let's see how long that lasts, certainly not a 10 year car even if you do take care of it.
Why use a three cylinder engine with a turbo in a big car like the Nissan Rouqe.Poor engine. My Nissan Qashqai as it called in Europe has 1.5 l diesel engine with a turbo and the manual gearbox .I would have wished that it have had a 2.0 TDI instead.I cannot understand why the engines have to be so Tiny.
I test drove a Nissan Rogue in 2017 before I bought a Honda CR-V. The Rogue was awful to drive. Why is Nissan trying so hard to fail? I now have a highlander. The mpg is awful, but I have an engine and transmission to last a lifetime.
The reviews on Consumer Reports for this vehicle are attrocious. I wanted this but now I'm going to have to look for something else.....Mitsubishi Outlander is also pretty bad.
It’s not bad. Go try it yourself. Don’t let other people decide for you. Drive 1 2 3 times and see how you like it. Go to multiple dealers and play dumb that you never drove one. At the end of the day you need to be happy not the dealer
Can you imagine having owned a piece of crap like the 90's Geo Metro? I was driving a beautiful loaded Honda Prelude Si that was better made than a lot of cars are today. Yes, I'm bragging.
As a Nissan owner I can tell you PLEASE! stay away from Nissan and their cripple CVT transmissions! W/out warranty you are looking at $4800 - $6,000 to replace it.
I agree! I had a 2012 Nissan Altima with that infamous CVT. Mine was nice and quiet until the CVT heated up and then it started whining a spoiled brat. That CVT coupled with a new unproven turbo charged three cylinder engine with variable compression ratio is enough to make me run away fast. Sorry, not sorry.
Because the turbocharger and inter cooler adds manufacturing costs more than removing a piston rod, 4 valves, and 4 valve springs reduces manufacturing costs.
Knowing how people maintain Altimas and Rogues this engine will be a disaster. These turn into buy here pay here as soon as the second or third owner comes around.
Do not buy a Rogue. Their transmissions are garbage. I have a 2016 Rogue that failed at 73000 miles. Nissan refused to pay for repairs even though I have spent $3000 in maintenance over the past year! A new transmission will cost over 5k! You have been warned!!! Make this right Nissan!
