This is the greatest achievement a scientist can make. But I wonder if the day after they receive their award (monetary and other) they contemplate the years they gave up for a day of praise that most people don't care enough to watch the ceremony.
These are the type of people that deserves to be praised and honored. These great people change our lives for the better. Our society are indebted to them.

To figure out what makes something unique one must know everything else to be able to compare it with. A much smaller task would be to figure out what made Earth's species survive evolution. Perhaps by finding the oldest assembly forms of DNA?
