I have owned one of these for years and I have to say I have more fun in this than any other vehicle. It is super quick and a blast to drive! While driving you do nothing but smile. Plus you can burn the rear tire for days, a ton of fun and only one tire to replace. Super stable, loves corners and will not roll over as commented in this video. If you have ever consider buying one do it, you will not regeret it!!! Do not compair this to a Miata or any other car for that matter it's not a car. If a car is what you are looking for than get a car not an autocycle. The open air and driver experince in this is like no other and not comparable to any car. The interior is what it is as it is all weather proof. This is not intended for a dialy driver, as I tell people you would drive this as you would a motorcyle. It is a weekend toy and a TON of fun as you rip through the gears and dive into corners.
It's a 3 wheeled kart that's street legal. It's a convertible with a top to block the sun, but still have a convertible experience. The noise is almost quad/ATV like. Cool weekend toy. I'd love to have it, but really couldn't justify it. I wonder what this would be like as an EV.
I live in vegas and this has to be the top rental here (other than Camaros lol). It’s always funny to see a husband and wife at the stop light and the wife is ROASTING in the 110 heat/sun.
I have to look at things like the Slingshot (and to a degree the Miata) as safer alternatives to a motorcycle. With the increasing number of EV's on the road, plus the giant 3/4 ton trucks and full size SUV's, (let alone the commercial vehicles) the size mismatch is scary. If you've ever parked head to head with a Ford Excursion or similar, it is chilling to envision a head on with one. I'm still happy to see creative options for fun, driver engaging cars that are not completely off planet on price.
Trust me, everyone notices you in one of these! I have owned motorcycles and experinced people looking right thru me, but with this they notice it, stop and stare. Also very well lit at night. Much safer than a bike.
It's actually really fun to drive on the highway. Super responsive steering, quick acceleration on demand and really good visibility all around (at least without the roof). Plus is attracts tons of attention so no one can say they didn't see you
Shortest audio system test ever in a Topher review! I was thinking same - just get the most basic one so you can listen to the ballgame. Thanks for checking the headlights (I was wondering about that). Not enough reviewers test the headlights and it is unfortunate when you drive your new car at night for the first time and learn that they are terrible.
@@jimmulator3902 90. Some of us don't like to sacrifice a nice day to watch a game on TV but like to follow along. In reality, if you want more in-depth info on the game, players, stats, the radio tends to provide more of that. If you just have a game on in the background, it's a different gig and you can't beat TV.
i test drove one at the LA auto show back in 2019 when they outsourced the engine. got to do a burnout in front of the convention center because i was first at a red light. very fun car. was also fun watching people stall it because they only had manual back then.
@@AkioWasRight The point is these things are compromised toys. The price of these are insane for what you get. It's not even an actual car. It's a trike for people that want to sit down and there's not even a roof included. I own a 124 Abarth and have driven NA,NB, ND Miata's and there's no comparison with these rolling middle life crisis mobiles.
I always look when I see one. Same as seeing other cool exotic or muscle cars costing substantially more. Not bad. Reminds me of a 650 road bike in power and fun Not too dangerous.
Can anyone speak on whether these are decent for long trips, say 4 or 8 hour distances? Is there much for aftermarket support? Mods/upgrades for performance?
I own a 2023 Slightshot SL it's because they are jealous and they should be ashamed of themselves Slightshots are very fun and something different besides what everyone have 2 wheels boring for some but that Slightshot surely turns heads everywhere I go they give me 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 even the little children loves it they all say it looks like a cool Batman Vehicle COME JOIN THE FUN PAL AND NEVER WORRY ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK OF YOU. YOU WILL NEVER ENJOY THE BEST MOMENTS
It’s cool, but expensive and flawed. I don’t see a lot of value-for-money in this vehicle myself but if someone gave me the keys I wouldn’t hesitate to hoon it around
I've seen a bunch on the road , not my cup of tea personally. I'd rather drive a spyder if going the 3 wheeled buggy route. That just seems like a quirky car.
I had a 2021 Slingshot R, the radio sucks, brakes suck and a ton of noise in the rear end. I had it 11 months now I have a Vanderhall Carmel GTS and love it. it's put built better and ride is superior to the slingshot
I would like to see a version more refined. Quieter would be nice for me. Too much road / engine noise. I wonder what a front-wheel drive version would bring to the table? It seems like it is too easy to toss the rear wheel and thus loose traction. I do like the roof covering as an option. FWD or AWD and a mild turbo...wow that would raise the bar. If that RF stereo is not sufficient, then they simply need to do better. I don't even use the factory unit on my H-D trike and I am not paying $2k+ to replace something the factory should have engineered better to begin with...especially for something that costs as much as a H-D Trike or that SS. I just use my iPhone and a pair of Axil blue-tooth budz. They are outstanding and stay in ear for the most part and they eliminate the vast majority of the wind noise. Nice vehicle overall. Thanks for sharing.
The Slingshot has really developed a bad taste for me as the only way I ever see them anymore is strapped up with neon lights and blasting the worst music imaginable from aftermarket speakers that, for some reason, face away from the driver and towards everyone else. It really just seems like a vehicle for showing off than actually enjoying, which is ironic cause anyone driving one of these looks like such a dick. As someone that actually likes to drive, I'd be much happier in a base-spec Miata.
I feel like you’re way too worried about what are people are doing, although I don’t disagree with what you’re saying. If you enjoy the ride, you enjoy the ride. Nothing else should matter
