2022 Razer Blade 14 vs ASUS G14 - The Easy Choice! 

The price alone is why it is alway hard to recommend a blade over anything else comparable. I wanted a blade so bad but for the performance difference the price is never justifiable.

The G14 just keeps getting better every year. I was going to upgrade from my 2020 G14 but I think I'll hold back until we hear some more news about Zen 4 and when it'll be coming to laptops.

I completely agree that blade 14 has a tighter hinge but the reason why this happens at 3:49 is not just because the hinges are too loose rather due to ergolift when you are lifting up the g14 a part of the display is touching the table and creating a torque that makes the display open up instead of staying in place.

This is exactly the review I was waiting for and I appreciate that it came out so soon. I'd be curios to see the same comparison in games to the previous Blade 14 to see if the step up in CPU and GPU make a difference but that G14 is a heck of a price, especially when you can get it with 32 gigs of ram for the cost of that Blade. Thing about the Blade series is it only takes a little bit of research to find out the "premium" build is only skin deep. Doesn't do much good when the battery is going to do a surprise firework show within a year.

I got a Razer blade 2021 on sale last month and absolutely love it. Never seen a windows laptop matching Apples build quality and aesthetics combined with 3080 monstrosity.

Love the G14, I am a bit frustrated by the color choice availability on it. Some regions only have it in white, some don't have the 6800s yet while others only have it with the Anime Matrix and make you pay for it even if you don't want it. Hopefully this gets better with time because it's such a good device.

Just made the decision between these two machines and ultimately went for the G14 based on price. Overall, I've been really happy with my decision, although I did have to return my first G14 unit after just 10 days because of dead pixels.

The max out g14 with ryzen 69000hs delivers excellent and the milliseconds has changed a lot. It went from 25ms to 3ms

Depends on where you live. The G14 here in Europe is about ~2500 for that spec. Whilst the Blade is about ~2700. At that point the Blade it's 3070ti is just a much better performance per €

It's a shame the Razer Blade 14 doesn't have a 32GB option... I need this amount of Ram to work and I'm having a hard time finding good small laptops with that Ram

Are you going to review the X14? I know you're not a fan but the CPU performance is probably better. If they figure out how to put in a more powerful GPU with future revisions then I think it could compete with these two.

There is a clear winner here and that is the one with the 16:10 display. I have worked/studied on many smaller sized 16:9 and that will never do it again, such a pain... 16:10 format is simply superior for small laptops like these.

thanks for a great review with real-world scenarios, further still making a decisive decision at the end, ... this is pretty spot on for me as I'm due to upgrade my laptop, and G14 was the front runner.

I really wish the next G14 has a 16:9 option with UHD or 1440p screen and 3060 or 3070 graphics, even if Max-Q. I need that kind of portable yet powerful creative station (and game console!)

It was a no-brainer for me too....except I took the Blade 14. ASUS needs to do some major work on its QC. Major backscreen bleed, crazy temps.....hard pass on the G14 for me this year

The Blade will be great a couple of years from now when you can get it at an Open Box price at Best Buy. The G14 is great right now.

I just got a blade 14 2021 on ebay brand new ,sealed for $1899.very happy with it.Really don’t care about 16gb ram .I only game on it.I got MacBook pro 14 for work,Wanted the g14 2022 but I just don’t like a white laptop ,wish it came in grey.

Phew, I was about to buy a G14 for Blender. I was aware the software was more optimized for Nvidia GPUs but I wouldn't have thought the difference would be so radical. Thanks for making the comparison.

my g14 was delivered on Tuesday. So far my only gripe is lack of HDMI 2.1, 16GB of RAM instead of 32GB, and the Moonlight chassis instead of Eclipse Grey. Obviously I knew about all of this before purchasing though. Performance wise it's a beast. Screen is very nice and I love the 16:10 ratio which makes it feel bigger than what it is.

I think alienware should also be in this comparison because intel can really do well and I feel like a lot of people will be curious about the x14 as the x series is normally considered elite.

I'd love to see some benchmark comparisons of some of these games on both under Linux... since AMD GPUs are better supported in Linux than NVIDIAs are.

The G14 is an overall amazing laptop but man, the "gaming" design language is the worst that happened to product design since laptop were invented.

32 Gb, battery and 16:10 - Asus almost perfect for software developer

Love my 2021 rb14. Nothing beats the quality of the laptop hands down.

The only thing I'd want from next year's model of the g14 is a full sized SD card slot. That would make my life complete.

currently waiting on a G15 in the mail and I will say that I appreciate asus and razer proving gaming laptops that have a clean mature look to them unlike a lot of gaming laptops currently for sale.

I agreed with you on the price point for the g14. I do love razer laptops as in my opinion they are one of the best high-quality laptops around.

Great video! I just got my hands on the g14 today and wondering if you had to disable the vari-bright in radeon to achieve maximum brightness. I was told to do so but I didn't see any difference between having it on/off and I'm not sure if it's pushing at 500 nits or no

6:55, what's with the DEUS EX MANKIND bars? seems like an error

6:49 the graph is a bit off. In Deus Ex the fps on the G14 is higher with 113 than the 95 from the blade yet the bars show the opposite.

I just wish the G14 was available in Canada besides that one specced-down configuration at bestbuy which is sold out. I want a white 6900hs+6800s but I expect to have to wait until the summer :( Meanwhile I could have a blade 14 on my doorstep in less than 48 hours and desperately need to upgrade my old laptop, but it's expensive as hell and the G14 is generally more enticing to me for many reasons. Just don't know how much longer I can wait.

X14 R2 is the better buy for 2K and under. Much better CPU w/ 32GB of ram. Also can be powered off any 100w USB-C charger w/ full turbo/gaming performance (will get battery drain tho) unlike 99% of gaming laptops (Asus/MSI). You can get a X14 w/ 12700H/3060/32Gb/1TB for around $1800 right now (w/ 10% dell email newsletter coupon). One thing that doesn't get talked about enough w/ the G14's in reviews is the terrible backlight bleed present on nearly every unit. I say "nearly" to be nice. Even the 2022 one has people exchanging 3 or 4 of them & simply giving up. Couple that w/ Razers 16GB limit on the Blade 14 and you're not left with many options to choose from.

Personally I like plastic-y/magnesium alloy casing over aluminum even if aluminum is more premium. Aluminum gets cold to the touch especially during the winter it's like touching a block of ice! And I just think plastic has a better feel to my skin than aluminum. Coming from an aluminum HP Spectre x360, I love my plastic Asus G14!

In my mind, razer is never "worth it" in terms of value. The minute you start comparing and looking for the differences it becomes obvious that the razer laptop doesn't offer much more in order to match its higher price tag. You pay for the slick appearance and build quality and the brand prestige. That's about it. The g14 has been great value-wise since its launch, so I don't think anyone should be cross shopping the 2. They have different target groups.

Thanks for this comparison video. There seems to be an error in the graph at 6:56 -- The green bar for the Asus in Deus Ex is shorter than the blue bar for the Razer, though the Asus shows 113 fps, vs 95 for the Razer. Could you clarify which is correct?

I bought the G14 in 2020. But it’s crazy to see just how much the G14 has upgraded now. Truly remarkable work by ASUS. And to answer the question, no: G14 is a much better, more balanced 14 inch option compared to Razer or even Alienware. These companies are not doing anything worth the price they are asking for. Sorry

1:30 why do you compare everything to MacBook? The MacBook is not an indicator of either quality or the way hardware should be made. You're clearly a fan of Apple, Apple has never created anything that can even be called "Pseudo Gaming" hardware.

I picked up the 2022 G14 with 32Gb. Nice improvement over the 2021 I have. Not day and night, but the convenience improvements such as the built-in micro SD. It did however get a big bump in price versus the 2021 model. Great laptop, the RGB lighting is not very bright though.

The hinge point at 3:55 was a bit weird to point out... they're pivoting on completely different parts of the computer lol. Of course the G14's display isn't going to stay put... the back 'feet' is the bottom of the screen lid. Whereas on the blade, you're just pivoting it on non-moving parts like the back of the lid or bottom/back edge of the laptop.

I got my full-spec dark grey (practically black) G14 last week. All I have done with it so far is turn it on, essentially. Already, though, I don't like the keyboard backlighting or the keyboard font. A lot more light bleeds around the keys than comes through the letters on the keys. The ROG gamer font on the keys takes getting used to - I find it distracting. Using a trackpad without buttons is a new experience for me, and I'll need to learn the tricks. And the two AMD stickers were poorly aligned. Which I wouldn't mention if Matthew didn't make a fuss about it.

Please do an in game comparison. I had both systems and returned the G14. I couldn’t get 30 (would be stuttering) FPS in the g14 in RDR2 ultra. With the blade i am almost getting a locked 60! NVIDIA just does a way better job at RT and DLSS than AMD with FSR.

If it wasn't for Razer tacking on what seems an extra $600 just for their name to all of their products I would go with one of those but the price difference is ridiculous. Alienware is also in a similar boat.

Yup biggest reason why I bought the G14. It’s a USD$1000 difference between the two where I’m at. Helps that I prefer the 16:10 for work.

4:40 is HX actually unlocked? I've never seen any ability to overclock them or do any bonus tuning.

Stumbled upon your video and love the tiny details you mentioned in comparison. Just wondering, which laptop opens up wider? I usually have it up on a stand when not travelling and it's annoying that the screen for my XPS can only open up at an angle on the stand.

But how about ALIENWARE X14?!?!???

I get that Razor is marketing their devices as premium products and therefore must charge a premium price but when the competition is this good, they really have to step up their game to justify it. 16GB soldered on RAM is not enough for anyone doing professional work on that device.

I need a laptop for data processing and 3D modeling, I’m debating on zephyrus G14, razer blade 14, or Alienware x14. Which one would you pick and why?

Would you recommend a M16 with i7-12700H RTX 3060 80-95W 16gb ram or a G14 with Ryzen 6800HS RX 6800S 105W 32gb ram M16 goes for 2300€ G14 goes for 2500€ Are the G14 thermals, fan noise, gaming and future proofing in general better and you could just get an external monitor for bigger screen?

i have the blade 14 with 3080 TI......yeah, never going with anything less. The build quality, it being way thinner, quieter, and being able to get 100-120fps on warzone @max 1440p....its incomparable. Sure, battery sucks, but hey, I never need to have 6 or more hours of battery life....like ever.

Technically the hinge comparison using the tilt back isn't legit. The reason why the G14's screen stayed back is because of the ergohinge design. Watch closely on the side and you'll notice a counter force on the screen because of the screen's position. Besides the G14 needs to have the hinge slightly looser to open up that ergohinge.

I cannot afford the G14 2022 model but somehow I can buy the G14 2021 ryzen 7 model Now which one should I go for Zephyrus g14 or Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3 or acer nitro 5 2022 model . Basically I want to visit all those skill sectors . As a computer science student I've talked with my seniors and they suggested me to achieve atleast one skill along with my graduation and master it . Hope you'll help me out 🙂
