JOAN CHAMORRO: the Greatest Teacher & Leader of Jazz on planet Earth. …AND ALSO a wonderful player (Bass, Baritone Saxist, Tenor Sax). What you have done for all of those Talented SAJB Kids is beyond words. 👏👏🎹🎷🎺🥁🎸🎤🎻🪕
Elsa is my favorite trumpet player. She and Koldo are great together! Good to see Elsa smiling and having fun. Dizzy and Bird would be proud of this version.
Amazing Chammorro can extract such great music from these young musicians. Elsa, my choice for next great trumpeter is really a bebop artist in disguise!!lol She has the range and her technique gets better every time I hear her. As usual great job Chamorro!!
Its great to have watched the progress made by these two musicians. There are of course many more I could mention, and I'm more than happy to continue to watch and applaud their playing. Thank you
In the language of the era when originally composed, RIGHTEOUS!!!!!!! Also, Elsa has such a cute smile as though she is embarrassed that she is capable of playing that well!!!!!!!
( English ) The most amazing thing about this video is no longer the immense level of the five musicians, but that Elsa and Koldo look and behave like established veterans with many years of experience on stages around the world... at 18 years. And it's not that they look like it, it's that they are!! Elsa has been in the SAJB for 13 years now, (she entered in 2010 at the age of 6), very close the record of her sister Alba (2009 to 2022). And due to age, he can have this and two more years in the band, if he wants. Koldo entered in 2015, it has been 9 years now. And you can also have 3 more years left if you don't decide to fly alone before that. He already has his "Joan Chamorro presents" about to come out. And she will be next, I'm sure. The last two great geniuses that the SAJB has produced... for now.
Amazing artistery from all musicians! And Elsa and Koldo have reached a very high international standard despite their young age! Thank you Joan for your unique teachings,, patient and musicality! You are worth next Polar Price! 🎉🎉❤❤
Enthousiasmant!
Brave attempt to bring Parker & Gillespie into the current music stream, performed with amazing recognition of the contribution of these two pathfinders... should be on everyone's listening playlist... thanks Koldo, Elsa, Marc, Arnau and Joan Chamorro for creating this interlude. Quite Wonderful!
I enjoyed this performance so much, especially because we got to see some of Elsa's sweet disposition. I haven't seen her face quite this expressive before. She is a treasure.
I’ve been following Joan and his very talented youngsters for years. What always amazes me is the commitment, passion and utterly jazzy spirit these youngsters have, all under strict auspicious guidance of Joan. This is excellent hard-bop session as it should be. My deepest thanks gal/guys you are an example. Hooroo’s & Cheers!
Jo !!!!
Proof that bebop lives. Nice also to see the big smiles from Elsa! (Is this a younger sister trait-staying more in the background but with great chops nonetheless? I'm thinking also of Carla M.),
Two of my favorites in an amazing performance. It's a shame the camera work was so limited. It would have been nice to see Marc Martin during the piano solo and Arnau Julia during the drum solo.
Elsa has always had great technical skills and now her improvisational skills have reached new heights. She is fantastic and in my opinion will become one of the best jazz trumpeters anywhere. What a joy to see this development ever since she was soloing on Mood Indigo at age 5. It's thrilling!
As far as I can see, she is 8 in the oldest videos which are available here (from 2013), including "Mood Indigo" (thanks for the hint anyway) and "When you're smiling".
The young uns acquit themselves very well. ("Meet the Flintstones?") Let's not overlook -- though the cameras did -- Marc Martín's excellent solo as well. The switch from Ignasi and Esteve to Marc and Arnau is a change in flavor but not quality.
