Aesthetically it improved, but I would still prefer the older model. Having the sitting area on the same floor is actually a big deal I think. Also the desk space layout was nicer in the older model. That's where I would spend a lot of time (controlling the boat and working on the laptop).
please forgive my ignorance, but why not also have a couple of small wind generators as well? Is it a weight thing? Or does wind not generate enough power to even be an effective solution?
Good question, most boats seem to be moving away from wind generators in favor of much more efficient and quiet solar power to supplement their on-Ship power requirements.
From my understanding, due to moving parts of a wind turbine, salt from seawater (air currents also carry it due to sea water evaporation, not just the actual water, so putting it high up doesn't help either) will eventually cause issues with moving parts. I think that's why some radar equipment are housed in fully enclosed containers as well, to prolong it's lifespan. So putting wind generator will be a costly maintenance factor and also wind is not consistent as the sun. Even wave/water current generator (these are not for boats, e.g. water dams) is better than wind generated power as water has more "pushing" force compared to air.
It sounds like there’s not enough sound absorbing material used for surfaces. Other people talking is quite disturbing in the video let alone you’d live on board like we do. I see a lot of sharp edges and cheap details, that’s a no go. I know too well how difficult it is to design a good boat interior. This lay out wouldn’t suit us. This one misses finesse in many ways. TV’s don’t make a boat. The wide “walkways” seem rather dangerous for tall people, that roof, that’s a huge design mistake.
