The street clearing set up is really nice. Clearing the sidewalk, then two scrapers get the snow into a nice line for the snow blower to shoot into trucks.

The snow piles do take a while to melt. The sand that is used on the roads gets mixed in with the snow, and as the snow melts it leaves behind a layer of sand on top that just keeps getting thicker. The layer of sand prevents warm air from melting the snow. Where I am, there's some snow dumping sites and eventually it appears to have all melted by the end of summer. But around mid October, you can dig through the leftover sand and find trace amounts of snow that's still there.

I read news, and a 22 years old student died during the storm not far from home.RIP.. for those people who live at north and work night shift should prepare backup equipment., like portable booster, hand warmer, portable battery, food, water, sleeping bag in the car all the time..

Isn't "Lake Effect Snow" a skinny stretch ? I have a friend who lives just south of the area and he said it could be several feet different in snow Total.
@mooglemy3813
@mooglemy3813 Год назад
@@keithscudder7136 it varies due to the two lakes affecting the area. You could drive west from Buffalo on I 90 towards Pennsylvania and the snow would be very little or non ahowing. Grass on the side of the 90 would be green in early Nov. Get to Erie PA and heavy snow again like Buffalo. They usually prepare well for this in Buffalo but the snowfall never cooperates no matter what preparations they take. Additional: the south shore of Lake Ontario gets what appears to be more snow. Syracuse NY can get 127 inches of snowfall. It's dependant on conditions but is usually high. Just thought I'd try and give you an idea of lake affect snow. It depends on the temperature of water in lake Erie and lake Ontario. FL always sounds like a good place to winter if you can.

I’m curious, how the trash , dirt, and salt is disposed of? Does it naturally decompose, because it takes so long to completely melt away?
@hailong_Vlog
@hailong_Vlog Год назад
Hi there are two kinds of snow dump site in Montreal. One is ground dump site, the snow will melt away until summer, the trash will be cleaned in summer. Another one is sewer dump, the snow is dumped into sewer, and treated with household water. 😄
@bluecardholder

Dont forget all those people that let their dogs leave their mess in the snow, and in the spring it starts to decompose - very smelly.

@@hailong_Vlog Is household water including toilets? or do the households have a separate sewer line from the rest of the house- like the kitchen sink and bathtubs and washing machines? If the households don't have separate sewer lines for the toilets, then household water is another term for raw sewerage. That would be a shame if that's what they are flushing into the St. Lawerance River.

@@markiowa5437 They are most likely running post-sewage treated water over the snow to melt it. The water has a certain heat to it from the treatment process.

@freedomisfromtruth Hi there ! Yeah I know, but usually, (going along with the rules), when the car is parked, the "mechanical parking brake" needs to be set. On older car models it is set manually but nowadays (more modern types) it goes "ON" automatically). However, it is strange to see a car being towed with the rear wheels locked 😵‍💫🫣
