I thought it was kind of an oddball thing, but it seems like maybe there’s something to it. It’s easy enough to correct, but it is a little strange that no one in QC noticed it.
Nice easy mod with the vynyl. I was looking to do plastidip but this seems to be a better long term solution. I don't have the side badge issue but nice to see how it comes off as I'm thinking about adding some LEDs there
Thanks for watching! I agree, vinyl is the better long term solution over plastidip, although plastidip is a great option if you don’t want to tear into the tailgate! I’m considering LEDs as well for the fender badges, great minds think alike!
Fit and finish if horrible on these... Doors front to back one or dipped... Need 3/32 shims on lower hinges , both sides... Hood to fender tops on driver's side , most are 1/8 low.... Tailgate drivers side is out 3/16 inch .... Pits in paint ... Been exactly same issues In trucks I've seen at dealership.... And my 21 and new 22 are same.... No ball bearing gap test in these trucks....front bumper also 1/4 to drivers side too far.... Come on Ford .... Get it together ... Also may 21 7.3 failed , broken lifter ,... Metal in oil.... Ford knows of this problem... But don't want it public due to it's new flagship engine that replaced the v10..... marketing rules over customer satisfaction...... Beaware .... No parts available for months at a time ... Was told 4 months if lucky for Ford replacement motor from factory.... Made them buy it back and got a 22....Hope this one is better......
That's WILD! I hate to hear you've had so many issues with yours so far. I will agree, like I mentioned in the video, QC is very lacking. I've seen a lot worse than the issues I had with mine. All told, I was very lucky to get a truck that wasn't built in haste and has been very reliable. Hopefully your 2022 holds up better than your 2021! I always pray for a mid-week build date just in case the folks on the like had a rough weekend or are too excited to clock out on Friday!
Hi Jay! I just received word that my F-250 is built !!! However, I didn't realize that I could track the progress through Ford Motor Company original email. I called my dealer rep to get an update to find out that my F-250 is built, but on a micro-chip hold at the Kentucky plant. The EPA was June 12th - June 18th, which has passed, so do you know what type of chip Ford is waiting for? I would think Ford wouldn't go to production without all the chips. Also, it looks like my sticker price hasn't changed from the original agreed price! I didn't get the sprayed bed-liner done at the factory because the dealer rep said that would slow down my production time. Do you think I should have the dealership do the bed-liner? My rep said they would have that done before I take delivery... I wonder if I should go elsewhere? Anyway, thanks for being my sound board and I hope my chip(s) get in quick!
I’m glad to hear your truck is finally built! That’s awesome news! As far as the chip hold, I know they were not building unless they had all commodities available for the trucks they scheduled. Unfortunately, it could have been something unforeseen that they didn’t get a shipment of a certain chip. Sounds like they’ll be able to get it out to you quickly once that would come in, though! I would definitely check with your dealership and see if they’re using a third party like Line-X to spray it or if they’re doing it in-house. If it’s in-house, do some research on the product they use. If it seems good, let ‘em have at it! If not, maybe they’ll agree to have it sent elsewhere and maybe you pay the difference. I appreciate the updates! No worries on being a sounding board, I’ll answer any questions that I can! Good luck with the next few steps in your process! It’s close!
@@beardedautomedia2261 Okay sounds like a plan. However, do you know specifically what product would be expectable? Never had a sprayed bed liner... Thanks!
For spray-in liners, at least for me, Line-X is the mark to beat. A lot of dealerships in my area (including mine) use Toff Liner. It’s a pretty good option. Honestly, as long as it’s prepped well and laid down thick, any liner should do just fine! But it doesn’t hurt to ask if they would send it to a Line-X shop!
@@beardedautomedia2261 Nice information Thank you! I just finished watching a Line-X video comparing their product to a factory Ford sprayed bed liner. Pretty eye opening for sure! Boy, I hope my dealership sends their trucks to Line-X, from what I just seen. If not, then I'm leaning on bringing my F-250 to Line-X dealer after picking up my F-250. Also, do you happen to know if dealerships are giving good trade values lately? I'm guessing not as good, as if I tried selling my trade in vehicle myself.
I definitely like Line-X a lot, but the Ford liner is a great option. I have seen where Ford’s liner pulls up in chunks and doesn’t appear to be prepped well. I think until mine has issue, I’ll be just fine with the Ford liner. As far as trades, they’re still pretty decent for heavy trucks, Ford in particular. Until ordering opens back up for 2023s I would say 17-2022 Super Duty’s will carry a good value.
I’m not sure what you mean, but this is definitely the tailgate that came standard on my truck. The only change made was vinyl wrapping the chrome strip near the release switch. The emblem is black chrome surround with a black background which is factory on the 2022 lariat with the black appearance package. I can assure you, this is how I received the truck directly from my Ford dealer.
Hey, thanks for watching! I personally like the black chrome on the badges with the black inset background around the “Ford” script, so I’ll probably leave it as-is. It’s hard to tell on camera, but the handle trim was plain chrome, which really stuck out. I would have preferred Ford to make the handle trim black chrome and I probably would have just left it alone. To each their own though!
