2022 Sur-ron Unboxing and First Ride Review 

Beautiful doggo, awesome bike, excellent video! 🤙🏼 I had the opportunity this past June 2022 to buy either a Sur Ron or the electric kick scooter of my choice, having never ridden any PEV before. The $3600 (38 after tax) dual-motor, dual-stem scooter I chose was about $800 cheaper than the bike but while I do love my Kaabo Wolf King GT Pro, I’m beginning to wonder if I should’ve bought the bike, instead. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Like the bike, my Wolf delivers insane amounts of torque, reaches a reported top speed of 62+MPH (I’ve pushed it to 53 only, so far, with room to spare) and has a huge 72V/35Ah battery with great range but unfortunately, the battery is not easily removable (or not at all unless repairing or replacing it) and there have been reports of battery fires with this model which worries me like crazy, especially with storing it inside my home. At least with the bike, your battery can be placed/stored in a fire protection sack. I can’t do that with the scooter, which also weighs about the same as your bike, maybe a little more. One factor among many in my overall buying decision was portability as the scooter will fold down and fit into the back of a compact SUV much more easily than the bike. The scooter is so much fun but with road tires that are only 11” tall, I’m more or less limited to smooth pavement and light gravel & light dirt paths. It handles dry grass ok, too, I suppose. They do offer the option for off-road tires, but I chose street tires. I tried trail riding it but it was much too jarring and unmanageable. I ended up walking it, anxious to find the exit from the dense woods, back to the smooth roads. 🫤 With the bike, you can quickly leave the pavement, launch up a grassy embankment and traverse coarse terrain that the scooter just cannot easily handle, even though the Wolf King is known to be a tough beast among scooters. I think it just has a lot to do with wheel size and standing vs sitting. I was a street skateboarder in my teens and a BMX and casual road bike rider throughout my life but I did not grow up with any type of motorcycles and I never did any mountain biking. Anyway, I definitely want a Sur Ron as soon as funds permit. Have you had any experience with high performance electric kick scooters?

if you haven’t already I would turn off regenerative breaking for free roll when letting off the throttle, regen doesn’t really save any battery unless you ride hilly environments. You prob already know this have fun G💯

cool video. now you get to rebuild the whole thing once you decide to upgrade a few things...LOL bars, grips, brakes, controller, battery pegs, wheels tires, rear shock....the list goes on. I'm curious to see how long it takes you to change something. Nobody leaves them stock
