yea i was amped to try doing this on my own but after 5mins i lost all hope 😅😅 think i’ll take it to an audio shop and have it done hopefully for under $1000 , i’ll end up causing $1000 worth damage or more on my own. love this setup though ❤
Thank you so much Jason. I didn’t even try to start this project yet but I appreciate you getting back to me. Another guy has told me the amp is under the drivers seat? I’m going with what you shown on your video. Just wish I knew how to cut into factory wiring. You mentioned like a T harness that plugs into factory wiring any ideas on where to get one?
Ha, if you pay close attention I actually filmed this taking it apart to sell the car, not doing the install. So my guess is to you the most important part was the wire tap?
I’ve watched both your videos on the audio subject, the stock tiguan audio is not great at all Just curious since you swapped out the front stage to the focals, why not run them with an amp and then use a dsp for optimal tuning ? As an audiophile person myself and have an sq system in my 2017 rline passat I did a full build using hybrid audio and zapco equipment since I was already spending the money for a better audio environment
2024 Jetta GLI 40th Anniversary here, been doing some research before I pick up the car on Saturday. I have not seen anyone show the computer/head unit combo in the glove box on these modern models, you're the first I've seen. This might be exactly what I need to get this done. Can you confirm if the output off of the back of the "head unit" is clean? I've had some audio shops tell me it will not be clean or it just simply doesn't work like that anymore with "modern cars" something about the signal going to the speakers not being clean or readable for a line out converter. Thanks
From what i did the signal seemed very clean. I did grab signal before it went into that factory amp and the factory processing inside the amp, that might have helped. If the factory system has fiber optical out thats a totally different ball game
@@jasonin2details gotcha, my car won't have a factory amplifier besides the "head unit" unfortunately. I also may have found a shop that will take the job on so fingers crossed. They've done a 2023 Jetta with factory amp so that's probably close enough. Thanks for the reply.
Jason could you please tell me the color of the rear speaker wires both +/- for both the left and right speakers of your 2022 Tiguan R-Line, NO Fender audio system? You said its an industry standard but I am finding that nowhere. Crutchfield has no information on this make and model if you can believe that...they usually have all the information on something like that. I have read in many VW Forum groups and still nothing. I will take your advice and splice into the factory harness behind the glove box but once again had no luck in a so called "factory harness". So I am hoping you can guide me thru this. I want to hook up LC2i to my rear speakers for a "full range" signal then hook up a Focal Bomba BP20 powered sub. Hoping that will fill in what my system is missing. If this doesn't work, then I will replace the in door speakers with Focal like you showed in another video. Thank you for all your help.
First I cant be responsible if this is wrong. Most amps are Right rear +solid violet ,-Violet with black stripe. And left rear is +Green, -Green with black stripe. You could actually take back door speakers out and look at colors there to be sure.
Not sure how to install LC2i. You mention about grabbing the signal at the amp? Then you mention left and right front and left and right rear? On the LC2i there is only room for 2 sets of wire not 4 like you are mentioning. Not sure what you mean. If I am going to install a self powered sub, do I have to go all the way up front to the factory amp or can I just get the signal from maybe the two rear back door speakers. Please advise...you are like the only person I know who did this to a Tiguan.
If you want to get back door signal you would have to find what wire it is before it goes into the door, so it would be in the door sill. I think it is easy to get it from amp behind glove box. I was told best to get from the rear output cause it is a cleaner signal and more full range. So correct only pick rear not both.
@@jasonin2details Can you please tell me how to get the info on what color the wires would be for my back rear left and right speaker if I get it from the amp behind the glove box? Also how did you power your LC2i. Did you also grab that at the amp? Do you know the colored wire I would want to look for the power? Sorry for all the questions. You mentioned a T-harness for wire connections if I didn't want to splice into. Where do I find that? Thank you!
@@gary9879 First thing is if you have this many questions I would pay a professional to do it. You tap wrong wires and the repair bill could be thousands. The colors of the wires are industry standard that come in almost any wire harness kit for VW cars. Crutchfield would have a wire harness. You get power for LC from the wire you ran for amp
Thank you for your advice. It’s not like I have a lot of questions, just want to make sure first on what I am doing and what I am looking for. I am sure you didn’t start your upgrade until you knew the colors of the wire and what to splice into. All I was asking for was where did you learn about the wire colors? Figured mine would have to be the same. I got the exact same vehicle. I pride myself in doing projects myself, makes me feel good. I am sure you are the same. Your videos make it look so easy. You are very talented! Thanks again for all your help.
