Weight 18.6 out of treks 2 gravel bikes, which would you want? domane or checkpoint?

I believe Domane is the only remaining Trek with ISO Speed in the rear AND front. CheckPoint and Boone only have rear now. Domane also has the DuoTrap mount. I have a 2020 Trek Boone and it has front and rear ISO speed. I have it setup as a gravel bike with 650B wheels and Schwalbe G-One bite 40mm tires.

personally I would go for the Domane as the majority of my riding is still on road. Like you, I don't like the seat post, reminds me of the integrated seat masts that Giant still run.

This is without doubt a very South Florida gravel setup.

#100...Whoo Hooo!!! I'm not really a gravel bike guy, but this is a nice looking ride.

Looks dope, but I think it's too expensive and too heavy. I decided to go with a contend AR 1 from giant and upgrade the F out of it. I got it down to 8,5kg for a size L which propably doesn't sound impressive, but all inclusive- I think it is. Because it cost me just about 3000€. Carbon bars, SLR seatpost, Sigeyi Powermeter, giant sl 1 wheels, terra speed tyres (38). Light stem, lighter saddle, light pedals, carbon headset spacers, Ultegra rotors. Some titanium screws where it's not safety relevant. It probably weighs a lot less than this domane and it's one hell of a bike. Actually the same geometry as the open up (comparing size L to an XL open).

What size tires do you need for South Florida gravel (levees in Palm Beach and Broward)? I am getting a little wary of riding on the roads with the drivers around here. I have a Giant Contend AR 1 which can handle 38c. Any recommendations for size, brand, specific tire? Thanks!

Nice setup but it has so much more potential. I've the older 2018 Domane SLR with Shimano Di2 815 GRX 48/31 & running a XD (3T Overdrive) 9-32 cassette for road on 25mm & XD (e-13 XCX Plus) 9-39 Cassette for climbing & gravel on 35mm. Gear ratios: High gear 48/9 is as good as 53/10 & low gear road 31/32 is = to 34/34 | gravel 31/39 is = to 40/50. Clean shifting

I made my 2018 Felt VR4 (1x only compatible frameset) my gravel bike with 35mm Schwalbe allround, mechanical Force 1 double tap, 44T, 9-42 cassette. It’s got the climbing and the high speed gearing all in one package if my road bike ever craps out.

Every bike shop around Miami is getting new stock except for the one shop that has a youtube channel. Shits not fair.

Pathfinder Pro 700x42 on 23mm inner width wheels fits my 2021 Domane with 5mm clearance each side.

i have trouble maxing out my 50x11 gears on my road bike. so on gravel where its much rougher and looser terrain when or why would you need a 52x10 ? thats like 45mph

You cannot put a rack on this bike, the nipples on the rear seat stays are for fenders, not a rack.

I really enjoyed your videos. Thank you. I just bought a 2022 Trek Checkpoint SL7 from my local LBS. I just got it this past week. The bike comes with the 2x force axe etap drivetrain. The front crank is 43/30 and rear cassette is 10-36 12 speed. Is it normal to have cross chain on the front derailleur when I am on my large ring in the front and low gearing (top 3 large cassette rings) in the back? I know how to mini adjust the rear derailleur but I don't know what to do about the FD. [BTW ... I watched this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VGq9WGdQn5w.html] Anyway, I was just curious if this is normal with chain rub coming from the front derailleur. I took the bike back to LBS look at it and they said that chain rub in those situation is normal after he mechanically try to adjust the front. He was nice guy ... but he just told me that it's normal and I was lucky that it doesn't rub even earlier as i go to the lower gear on the big chain ring. Any thoughts would be helpful.
