I've had my Paragon cover for a year locking mechanism is different on mine there is no long tube or handles to pull so your rails are usable I love it those tri-fold ones with the rubber the rubber rots out and then the material itself starts to delaminat its two pieces glued together. This is one solid piece of aluminum that has bent on both sides with return bends heavy gauge aluminum. Only a couple drops of water during heavy rainstorms just like John said, awesome cover and I'm a Aircraft sheet metal fabricator.

Glad to hear it, thanks for sharing! The model shown here is our new Limited HDx design that has the updated lock rods and some other functionality like mulit-loc!

I have this exact cover on my tundra (2017)... and after 5 years I HATE it, definitely going back to a soft rolling cover. 1) it leaks water at nearly every seam. 2) the rails overhang into the bed, and you have to be super careful not to bang them up. 3) It rattles like crazy when its folded up - especially bad if you try to roll down the back window... but it does look nice, and it is semi easy to remove the folding cover.
@TRDJon

Oh yea I’d bet it would rattle like crazy. That’s why I’d just take it off if I was needing my bed.

This is what happens when RU-vidrs get things for free and have to promote expensive garbage. Imo Get a soft top Gator or Tyger Tonneau cover for about $230‐$250 with no water leaks when raining or in the car wash for way cheaper.

Great video, thanks Jon! Ended up getting the Limited HDx as well for my 23’ SR5 TRD OR. Definitely think the pros outweigh the cons and would recommend the Peragon cover, especially if you need to remove the cover all the way and don’t want to drill into your truck for the cover install. I have noticed more water in the bed than I’d like, but I don’t think any tonneau will totally prevent water unless it’s a cover that goes over the edges of the bed.
@TRDJon

Exactly. For what the cover is and how its put into place on the rails, I feel it actually does pretty good.

Kinda surprised with how much water it let in the bed. Granted it’s not a lot overall, but one of the reasons people buy bed covers is to keep the weather out, as well as security. Years ago when I bought my old used Silverado it came with a hard lift up tonneau cover one piece and that obviously didn’t leak as it kind of wrapped the bed sides. I like the ones like here as they roll up or fold up, but I’m thinking maybe you have a warranty issue with the water being let in. Maybe the gasket/rubber on the sides of the cover? It does look great on the Tundra though that’s a fact!! Great video as usual appreciate it brotha! God bless~
@TRDJon
@TRDJon Год назад
Thanks. Maybe then. We will see what Peragon says. But I mean, nowhere on their site from what I see says they are water proof. Tbh is was barely any water and people are commenting like it was a flood in the bed lol. Still dryer then if I didn’t have the cover. Thanks for watching man! I appreciate
@KendrasEdge757
@KendrasEdge757 Год назад
@@TRDJon oh yeah you’re right, I agree that’s not much at all and most came in when you opened the tailgate lol I don’t think any claim “weather tight”. I’d just look at that area where it’s dripping down from & see if anything looks off, probably not honestly as it’s really not much water. The right combination of rain and wind and it’s gonna get inside. Outside of those that wrap the bed and people buy the ones like this paragon because you almost can’t tell there’s a cover at all. My 15 F2FIDDY I traded on my 21 T4R ORP didn’t have any cover just the spray liner and when I’d drive off after a rain it sounded like a pool emptying with all the water leaving the bed lol this is almost nonexistent really.
@peragonenterprises
@peragonenterprises Год назад
@@KendrasEdge757 We do have customers that experience zero water intrusion but the cover is not designed to be 100% waterproof (no retractable cover is). The level of leaking can vary based on installation and general variances in trucks and climates but this installation look good and sets a realistic expectation of what you can expect!
@omarawad2161
@omarawad2161 Год назад
Was going to get this initially but I preferred the lower profile on the BAKflip MX4. This is definitely cool in that you can remove it though. FYI with my BAKflip on a 5.5" bed there is zero water intrusion even in heavy rain, not even a drop. Thanks for sharing TRD JON.
@TRDJon
@TRDJon Год назад
Of course! No worries at all! I like that fully removable aspect because I use my truck a lot with our real estate stuff and I don’t leave items in it all the time either. I was just glad it didn’t leak at all while driving which was nice. Glad that backflip is great for ya!

I’ve had a $230 Gator X soft roll up tonneau cover on my truck the past 3 years and not a drop of water gets into the bed even at the car wash. Sure it’s not as secure as a hard tonneau but it’s done a lot better than a lot of the pricier covers out there.

@@TRDJonIt also looks great and works extremely well for the price! I'm sorry, but most us common folk will be looking for a bargain and something with great quality. You earned what you get, but please help the common folk 🙏
@vr4787
@vr4787 Год назад
@@TRDJon well that and it’s affordable, it doesn’t rattle driving along, it doesn’t take up bed space since it rolls up out of the way, it’s light so doesn’t add much weight, and has held up to snow/ice, dust-storms, and 100+ degree weather. Only con is it’s not as secure as a hard tonneau so I don’t keep anything valuable in the bed.

I didn't want a soft cover. I was looking at this anyways. It is an expensive truck in the first place. So I wanted a better product on the truck. Anyone can achieve anything in like. Don't put yourself in the common folk corner for your whole life. If you want something, work hard for it.

My diamond back truck bed cover is rated to haul 1600 lbs and I now have it so that it is 99.9% water proof. Paid $2200 though 😅 soooo I definitely think the Peragon is a really solid choice for most. I just wanted to keep my inner bed bone dry and still be able to haul anything on top. The decked system sounds great (In theory) but it also feels like you sacrifice a lot of useable space just for the decked system itself.
@TRDJon
@TRDJon Год назад
I looked into the diamond back and the overland aspect of it is awesome. Super rugged but doesn’t seem like you get a lot of access to the bed that I would prefer to have.
@realityescapesme7588
@realityescapesme7588 Год назад
@@TRDJonya that is the biggest downside for sure. They did just release a new variant that I believe is called the switchback that folds up, but then you lose the very impressive 1600lb load rating. I want to say the new variant is rated for 400 lbs. also your tonneau cover is way easier to [ completely] remove if necessary
@khnguyen141

@peragonenterprises
@peragonenterprises Год назад
Another simple fix is an adjustable cargo bar to prevent load shift when you don't need to utilize all of the bed space or a cargo hook to pull items forward when you do. This cover was designed to be as flexible and maintain as much bed space as possible which is why we opted against a mounted canister that would reserve the space needed to retract. Definitely important to understand how you want to use your bed and what features are most important to you!

Regardless, I support you and your channel. 💯

I cover everything here from budget to expensive and I have been for over 5 years. I like giving options when I can. This just so happened to be the cover I was personally looking at and then Peragon agreedeto send it out anyway as I had mentioned. So it was a win win. Are there more affordable optons? Yea, of course. Even Peragon has 3 price points too. Just wanna leave options available for people.

@Tiggo35
@Tiggo35 Год назад
I had one on a Ram Truck a few years ago and it literally fell apart. It had sealed bearings on the ends, they would fall off. Then when you retracted it, it would get crooked and jam up. Rattled and flopped around. It got so bad, I had to remove it. Perhaps they improved it but when I saw you twist it to remove it I had bad flashbacks.
@TRDJon
@TRDJon Год назад
Twist to remove? Not sure what that means. But that stinks man. I’ll be doing more reviews on it over time so we will see how it holds up.
@Tiggo35
@Tiggo35 Год назад
@@TRDJon When it folds up and then you unclip the right side and then pull/twist the left side to get it out of the track. Mine would do that from the tail gate if it wasn't perfectly retracted. It would come out of the tracks. It lasted about 3 years. It was nice at the beginning but steadily began deteriorating. This was about 8 years ago, so hopefully they have improved the design and longevity. Keep up the hard work!
