Petar (Pepy) Illiev was a semi-finalist in the 2022 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Petar presented their research, "Using heat treatment to find cancer drugs." They are exploring how to block specific molecules such as STAT3 to help treat cancer. Pepy Illiev is completing their PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences @UBC under the supervision of Dr. Brent Page.
#3MT is an academic competition that assists current graduate students with fostering effective presentation and communication skills. Participants have just three minutes to explain the breadth and significance of their research project to a non-specialist audience.
