I also use dodgers here on lake ontario. Another version is to tie in 1 section of leadcore as it get dodger down 6ft. this can also be used with spoons.
So you're basically running a 1C Leadcore, gotcha. I personally don't do it just because I think a 3 color rod is much more efficient for me in the kayak. I can run 1 color to do what you do but you really can't beat a spoon on 3 colors in the spring. Then I just run keel weights with dodger/fly's. These fish will come from 6', or deeper, to hit that dodger/fly running just a couple feet below surface.
Great video. I have been using stingers spoons on my Dipsy diver rods and producing good coho. But it died out. You said to go with magnum spoon. Boom fish on. Thank you. PS got one king in 50 foot of water on a five color with a silver Kwik fish. Port of Indiana near the donut
Well its pretty saturated and what I find is that anglers have their favorites made by x-company or person. So I think to stand out depends on how its branded and marketed.
Michael - you mention 20lb Flouro to the Dodger. How about from the Dodger to the Fly? I had read about some folks using a heavier line (30-40lb) because it accentuates the action of the Fly.
Yes, go with 40lb minimum on the actual fly leader...50lb also works. Either one of the two is all you need. The stiff line allows for the dodger to impart the action to the fly better than a thinner line. That's the reason why.
