Just love this new era of gymnastics. I love that NCAA gymnasts and adult women dominating the field. And it’s the first time watching elite gymnastics where I don’t feel uncomfortable
The maturity of the gymnasts is so refreshing and the maturity of their movements and dance shows. I like how the the gymnasts routines have improved and evolved.
We've had gymnasts of college age or older doing well in the US for a while. (Like, for decades kind of a while - the main thing that has changed is that they are actually attending college simultaneously instead of deferring or going pro.) Why are you only just now not feeling uncomfortable?
@@Altoclarinets Because this competition felt like fun, people were enjoying themselves and there was a healthy amount of pressure unlike in the past with martha and many coaches who have been suspended or jailed for their unhealthy coaching methods the amount of pressure the gymnasts feel is considerably less, if someone makes a mistake, it feels like less of a big deal and they can move on without the fear of the retaliation of the staff because it is not the end of the world. I felt the pressure watching people compete when I was just watching on tv, this was relaxing to watch, it feels chill and enjoyable and fun which is what gymnastics is supposed to be about. It does not feel like the be all end all
I’ve been watching gymnastics for a very long time…years! The difference in Jade Carey a year ago and today is amazing! She really is a different person! Way to go Jade!
Ikr? She's become more of a compleat gymnast after her college year. She actually has choreography now, real dance, much improved hands! I love it. And I think she will only get better between now and 2024 Paris. So excited for her. The college year really did so much for her.
I love Jade. Classic in her own way. Simone hits it I mean she scores. Sunilee is just beautiful the way she is. Makayla whateverherlast nameis slams like what? It's a wonderful team. Don't let me even talk!. It's a great team! Jade is good anyway. Distinct and simple. They train! Lots of opponents.
@@lizpurr8402 Training so hard to finally perform and have the chance at a national title to get injured mid competition taking you out of contention and costing you a national team spot…. Yeah I think anyone would be emotional.
Has she always had such an active role in coaching at WOGA? I didn't realize (especially since Nastia's career was very much the Nastia and Valeri Show).
@@somethingelse9176 I think she always had a behind the scenes coaching role. I think I heard somewhere that she couldn't watch her own daughter compete??? could be wrong about that but it would make sense why she was never there during Nastia's competitions
I agree. It's also nice to see more gymnasts doing a bit more artistry on floor now too. It may not be perfect but it's still great to see and makes floor more enjoyable
Soooo happy for Shilese, finally bringing what she's capable of into competition. There's something so special about her /her gymnastics and I'm excited to see how far she will come this season. Gutted for Leanne obviously... and ugh I'm in desperate need of Laurie commentating every meet from now on. She is much more positive and does a good job on explaining the technicalities etc... she commentated one meet and I already miss her (especially in comparison to this commentary duo/trio)
@@regardzz suni said she would go back to elite 2023, the rest are college gymnasts. i don’t think the other three you mentioned ever wanted to go back to elite...
@@Nina-ig5ev oh sorry im a bit dumb when it comes to that stuff, as an international viewer i just watch NCAA season that we get to see on this channel (thank god!!!or not god but the guy that runs channel :D) and thats it :D so this is what you would call an elite event? what differs? like if Trinity attends this does she have to take on some extra responsibilities or smth? Cuz its kinda hard to understand how some1 like Trinity who is clearly the best US gymnast atm doesnt want to win national title of her country?
"You've never looked more uncomfortable on camera." So true.🤣🤣🤣 Nastia looked like she spent the whole time thinking, "Don't look awkward. Please, don't look awkward."
So proud of Jade. Her inner transformation over the last few years is truly inspiring. And Jordan -- wow, you can really see she is much more confident and is owning who she is. These girls were all incredible tonight.
So happy to see Kayla Dicello and Shilese Jones out there! They are such wonderful gymnasts! They both have the whole package when it comes to gymnastics. Power, grace, confidence, consistency, strength, flexibility, great lines, etc. I really hope to see them both on the team for worlds. Great to see Konnor as well and of course the returning Olympians. O and Leanne too! She continues to up her game. I hope she's ok. Smart decision though... no need to risk further injury. Excited for Suni's return next year. Extremely hopeful Simone will come back too!
It’s wonderful to see this young ladies healthy looking( not anorexic) with sparkles of hope in their eyes. I fervently hope that the sexual abuses that the previous group of athletes suffered will not be repeated. Parents, coaches, and fellow athletes protect, support each other🙏
I absolutely love so many of these girls and I think we're in a really great era within women's gymnastics, however Konnor just has to be my #1! I remember watching those videos that went viral of her doing gymnastics at like 4 years old. I was just a couple years older at the time, and it just really amazed me and drew me in. So cool to see her on the largest stage now.
LIES! Konnors leaps beat tf out of any lack of leap extension Johnson could ever muster. Hush! Stop being mediocre in your comparison! Konnor is leaps ahead of Johnson! The nerve of comparing her to that acrobat!
It felt like they were really underselling her and Kayla the whole time. Konnor got way more hype (and she totally deserves hype), but Leanne and Kayla were #2 and 3 in the world less than a year ago! They deserve the same energy!
Because they are the "good" storyline. Family hit hard by covid (and jail sentences), the underdogs are always good for TV> Leanne and Kayla are too drama free for headlines. They always do this.
@@KYCyn1066 So frustrating, but true. They couldn't stop talking about Konnor and Shilese both losing their dads. I heard that Konnor was asking people how many times they mentioned her dad on the broadcast. 💔 Putting so much repeated emphasis on these "tragic" stories for BIPOC women is basically trauma porn, and it's not what I'm watching for. Ugh.
@@karyon1007 Or worse, it's implying we need a reason to like them and want them to succeed. Like it's not enough that they are truly awesome women and great gymnasts. It's insulting in that they feel we have to have a reason to support BIPOC gymnasts. You would have thought Gabby and Simone were the only black women to ever do gymnasts on an international basis. But they were really great gymnasts that didn't need the sad backstory. I remember them doing this with Shannon Miller and Dominique M. during the run-up to 1996. There's a sad little clip of Shannon saying something like "I may be quiet but I can be fun too" after the comparison of a young kid and an older vet. I felt sorry for Shannon, whose quiet dignity was not nearly as interesting as the latest, new thing. Konnor and Shilese are great. Leave their personal tragedy out of it and talk about the actual skills they are doing. Educate the audience about why this skill is harder than that skill. I'm so tired of the endless prattling Nastia and Tim do.
So many smiles from the women! It warms my heart to see! Sad Leanne's night didn't pan out, but I feel like she still comes out ahead as the fashion leader considering the number of people wearing her bows!❤️
@@darrylrutledge6719 I didn't imply that was *why* she was great, though??? Obviously she's an incredible gymnast with a World AA silver medal. I was rooting for her, hence my sadness at her night not going well. She's also really proud of her bow business, and, like, good for her! She's an entrepreneur and a fashion icon who designs leos. There's nothing wrong with celebrating her for that.
great competition with a great atmosphere :) there is so much positive change in elite gymnastics :) when they talked about the olympics and said "Jordan is so consistent" my first thought was "no, she fell on floor at the olympics". but then i realized that it was really a big thing for the other athletes as well when simone dropped out of competition. jordan had to step in and do things she was not considered to do. it is so easy to forget how much mental pressure gymnastics is and i am happy that this part of the sport is getting more and more attention :) and i absolutely love Jade's new floor routine :) she improved so much on her artistry. some more facial expression and it will look even better. i'm excited to see how she develops in this area throughout the next years in college :)
jordan in general is very consistent. She has hit every routine at nationals since 2019 and many other competitions too. but she seems to be less consistent in the highest pressure situations (world team trials 2019, olympics 2021)
@@Bxyxox she did do well, but she was very capable of winning an AA silver medal but lost it do to a really rough beam routine in qualifications (after she had hit three clean routines so the pressure was high). her team final AA score was higher than Shilese's score in AA finals. Also we saw this at the Pac-12 championships after doing great on beam all NCAA season, in the most important meet of the season up to that point she fell on beam and lost the AA title to Jade Carey.
@@Plaspos there’s always room for improvement and she’s definitely done that since tokyo. Two individual medals and AA for team gold is big. The only way to go is up, so I’m sure she’s only going to get better. Just imagine if she unveils a cheng
Thank you for being so quick at uploading them!! I was afraid of not being able to follow anything (not being American + not having a VPN + not paying for whatever service), and I wasn’t sure if someone was going to upload them to begin with (although I did see some of your reposts from other meets and was kinda hopeful), but you’re also posting them so quickly (I thought it’d require at least a few days) so thank you🫶🫶
Wow what a great bunch of athletes! So great to see the smiles and the cheers to go with the talent. I think getting the Karolyi's and the other toxic players out of USA gymnastics has come to fruition. So excited for this season.
Shilese came to PLAY, y'all. Power and elegance yes ma'am! And that Leo is maybe the prettiest I've ever seen. Is it just me or has Jordan Chiles transformed?!? She was a nervous girl in Tokyo..... A confident woman today. Do it, sis!
NBC is never gonna show us a reasonable number of routines, are they? It's like they have a contract somewhere saying that less than 25% of the broadcast can be actual routines.
More time to blah blah blah about nothing important. Remember when they spent all that time showing Simone's ankles being taped instead of actual compititions? It's like NBC didn't know how to broadcast the competition.
@@somethingelse9176 It was a little better. I just watched the live broadcast of Night 2, and it actually seemed way better to me. I think we saw every routine of the top 6 all-arounders.
Was just watching the european champs thinking that team Italy looked quite strong. But this US team is gonna be SO STRONG!! I'm so excited to see what these amazing athletes do on the world stage.
Up there with Shawn Johnson and Shannon Miller in terms of talent, for sure! If she can keep controlling the nerves to hit at Worlds, she might become the person to beat the rest of the quad!
@@karyon1007 Please. Shawn Johnson had no leaps. Konnor is far beyond her there. Stawp Americans of using acrobat Shawn as a beacon of beam workers. Do some best beam worker research, Shawn is given proper for her flipping. Thats it! Not her artistry, leaps, flow, nothing. Hush. its silly. Konnors one leap is what Shawn dreams she could have ever done. And her layout is 10x higher than Shawns. Stawp. Konnor has to work on flow, and her artistry but it was improved since earlier this year.
Nastia should not be allowed to talk about her dad's athletes. It's a conflict of interest. I'm tired of the commentators talking through routines about BS instead of discussing the elements and skills. Katelin Jong is lovely. Leanne is always elegant. Shilese is amazing. I always want to poke Jade to see if she's alive. No charisma but great skills.
She did a great job to on the horse nice job on files in the air and she did outstanding job on the floor exercises and all those pretty girls did well in the competition in my book
Dang. Jade has improved immensely. She dug deep and came up with a beautiful assuredness and grace. So beautiful. And better, in terms of artistry, than her gold-medal routine. As Nastia and Tim said, she still has some distance to go. But it reminds me of how Anna Pavlova was praised for her flexibility that always seemed effortless, and said in an interview that she was not naturally flexible, and had to work at it constantly. I suspect Jade's artistry and grace is similar - it is particularly impressive *because* it doesn't come naturally.
bahah she wasnt better at all in artistry STAWP! You fans lie to yourself its give unrealistic... she didnt even win the floor as a result of the new artistry deduction. At worlds she better up her d score, because her beam and floor will be butchered.
Looking at that artistry list 1:07:24, Jade still doesn't meet a lot of those requirements. Yes, she's less posey but still major artistry deductions, which I think Shi beat her despite having a lower D-score.
Yeah unfortunately those are the things that many elite spend alot time training remember she jo gymnast 1st its still amazing how far she has come .. im soo proud of her.
Regardless they need her vault and floor. I trust her consistency under pressure. I'm soo happy for her!!! I still think she is cleaner gymnast than Skinner. Her bars has gotten stronger I know she missed a connection but it was still solid routine
Chellsie said they need to work on artistry...and I believe they still do. They need to get Betty Okino in to help with that. She can be the artistry lead
i used to be a gymnast when i was little, but quit when i got invited to start team because it was too expensive. i moved to baton instead. i wouldnt be able to do what these girls do. for baton competitions, if you catch it 2 handed and the judges see, it counts as a drop, and i never catch it 2 handed during practice, but as soon as i compete, i freak out and reach both hands out to make sure i dont drop it because thats more embarassing than catching with 2 hands (its supposed to only be a one handed catch). so, with that being said, if i continued with gymnastics and ever got to this level of competition, i know for a FACT i would never win anything because under pressure i always play it safe. my routine has 2-3 release moves back to back? as soon as i compete it, i already know ill doubt myself and decide to put a cast handstand in between each one to ensure i dont fall. sorry for the long comment, i just am incredibly proud of each and every one of these athletes.
Konnor is obviously nastias favourite, her parents coach Konnor and in my opinion Konnor is amazing she’s come so far compared to her at US classic in 2021
