From an artist point of view, i like to think the reason its slow at the beginning and gradually gets faster in the middle and end slamming the hardest is because they are capturing the sense of climbing a mountain getting faster as we reach the top OR could be like an avalanche, first the slow cracks of the ice as it tumbles down then as it comes down it SPEEDS UP AS IT FALLS 🤯

yeah, love this song. The enemy was bombing the mountain to cause the snow to break away onto them. They are now there forever because the snow never melts, They're still there.

I knew about the story before, but I really didnt consider that all those soldiers that got buried are probably still all there. No way that they were dug up just to get reburied, and in that cold they will probably stay frozen for thousands of years to come. That's crazy. In the video as well, the first plane were WW1 era, but the second ones were WW2 era, I'm guessing the point they wanna make is that if these soldiers could still see what was going on after death, 25 years after they die they would see another world war come to the same area, just with new technology. Really hope those soldiers wont see a WW3 up there, rest in peace

On December 13th, 1916 at 5 AM, known as White Friday, a series of avalanches hit both Austro Hungarian and Italian barracks and basically buried them with everyone inside. People reported afterwards that both Austro Hungarian and Italian troops fired artillery at the loose snow on the mountains to cause avalanches on each other's side. The total death toll is unknown, but approximately 2000 soldiers died and a dozen civilians. Many of the bodies were never found. Some are being found nowadays with the ice on the mountains melting more and more due to climate change.

Dedicated to all those unknown solders who never made it home. It was marked that way as around 2,000-10,000 soldiers were killed in the avalanches and the vast majority were never recovered and still remain preserved on the mountain

This was another powerful song. They not only captured the essence of the battle but also the cruel beauty of those high mountains.

This is why I honestly view WWI to be deadlier than WWII. It was an evolution in warfare that was evolving and changing faster than we knew how to fight and adapt. The use of machine guns did away with the centuries old tactic of both armies marching out onto the battlefield, and the desperation to gain ground led to the creation of deadlier instruments of modern warfare; long range artillery, tanks, flamethrowers, poison gas, even planes were used to strafe the trenches. And all this did was add to the desperation to achieve victory by any means necessary, even if it meant starting avalanches.

I think they use WWII fighters to show he’s still on his post after 25-30 years, and still to this day. They wouldn’t make such a simple mistake. Or because it looked badass pulling up behind the drummer. Either way, it’s so goddam awesome.

The part where you thought the planes were coming in to bomb them, they were actually trying to bomb the side of the mountain to purposefully create avalanches.

The Artillery that was used in the Alpine-mountains was what did these poor lads in along with the gun fire and dogfights.

I think and I might be wrong, that the two sides were shelling the mountain to cause the avalanches instead of shelling the troop positions. One avalanche equalled more death and destruction than a single shell. What an epic song and an epic performance.

Iirc, White Friday itself is a natural avalanche. The reason why u see bombers bombing the mountains is because during the course of the war, both sides often bomb the mountains to create manmade avalanches or to simple drop portions of a mountain on top of enemy formations Anyone with better info on this can correct me if I'm mistaken somewhere

Vet: White Friday happened to the mountaintop Austro-Hungarian troops fighting Italian intruders. The Italians had undermined the peak, and planted enough Pyro to blow the top down on the Austro. The rocks and snow avalanches buried them.

Kickass song 🤘 One common feature of their latest singles (this, Christmas truce, steel commanders, livgardet and kinda defence of moscow) is that they put a lot of effort into the choruses. They have all been great but I feel like the verses get a bit overlooked and they mostly rely on an epic chorus to carry the song, which (sometimes) creates an awkward paus in between instead of having the verses a bit more upbeat and energetic, leading into the choruses more naturally. Anyway, might just be me, but I still love their music 🔥💯

From what I've heard from that story it was an artillery attack that coursed it

the sad fact is that even now many of those bodies have never been found. still on that mountain when all other soldiers have been returned to love ones they still remain lost. No one is sure but they think that cannons aimed at the mountains started the avalanche that buried them. but this song is a reference to not only white friday but all who lost their lives on the mountains hence the different planes, from the biplanes of ww1 to the messersmitchs of ww2

they think death count was from 2,000 to 10,000 men from both sides even some civilians were killed that day .Also memorial day for them in italy on that day called Saint Lucia. That was not worst avalanche, the worse was in 1970 in Yungay, Yungay Province, Áncash Region, Peru a under water earthquake cause debris avalanche and mudflow down 100 miles destroying several towns or villages the DEATH TOTAL WAS 30,000. But could been HIGH as 66,794 to 70,000 casualties.
