4th buyer right here!🙌🏻 my husband is an engineer at Volkswagen HQ, he helps design/engineer them and I get to be the lucky recipient of a 1st generation one in a couple of weeks, I am so excited. The cool part is I can tell my hubby what works & doesn’t work & he can pass that on at work. This crossover is perfect for those of us whose kids are now driving their own cars and we don’t need a huge SUV but we still want to feel like we have enough room when we travel. I’m tired of sedans and this is a very nice alternative because the Atlas is way too big for us (we’re a small family,) and I’ve already driven two Tiguans. (which I love) This does remind me of an Audi, which we can also get at employee pricing (but not until my daughter gets out of college…🤑🤑) I really love this car and can’t wait till they deliver mine!! Spot on review. We have a 2022 Atlas and a 2022 Taos and totally agree it is the baby Atlas. Turbo does have that lag which can be a pain when turning a corner. Overall very happy with it and you are right it does not feel as small as it is.. You want the 4th buyer here you go lol. We have the big one when we need it ( 7 people or camping). Have the small one for city or errands :) But with the AWD if I want to go skiing at Taos alone, no worries at all this little guy will get me there.

Great review. I think you're spot on about the use of gray interior trim versus the black-- it may not be desirable but it's acceptable. This car reminds me of Dr. Who's Phone Booth-- Small on the outside but larger on the inside!

4th Buyer: I’ve been considering Taos cuz it’s looks good and has decent price to value. Not looking for power or performance I would love to have a comfortable experience in my car for longer travels.

Great review! One note though - the boost pressure that Volkswagens report in the gauge cluster account for atmospheric pressure, which is ~14.7 psi. So that 25 psi it displays as boost pressure is really only about 10.3 psi of boost from the turbocharger.

One darn good looking vehicle. Love that it doesn't have the screen sticking out the dash lookin like an tablet. Love that it has a panoramic roof the Rav doesn't even have that. Really like that the ride is quiet. Are the bottom of the doors made like Kia Sportage and the new Mazda Cx5?

I’ve owned a Rabbit and two Golf’s and I love the utility of a hatch but now that I’m older I like the ease of getting in and out of something taller, and higher off the ground. I test drove the old Tiguan and it felt too tight inside; though I liked it otherwise. I like this better overall

This is the first time I've watched one of your videos. Well done! The one comment I have is that, as a Canadian RU-vidr please consider including metric measurements (you can still use imperial measurement). I live mostly in metric and hate having to convert measurements when watching a Canadian video.

Is there a soft shell taco option or only hard shell? Soft shell may be easier to eat while driving. Probably based on the trim level?

I'm the 4th buyer because I've always driven American an Japanese cars and I've always wanted to try a German brand. Luv my 22 Taos SE. Oh I've had it for almost a year and sides VW's recalls have had no issues with it so far. It's just been a fun car to drive to work. Awesome review as always. 😎

Hi, I love this page! 😁 Watching this page has convinced me to purchase my own vehicle. I have a 2022 VW Tiguan SEL R-Line. (I don't remember what they call that trim in Canada.) When you compared the Taos vs. Tiguan, I will say driving as well as the digital cockpit, along with other features, they are very similar. The 2022 Tiguan has more ambient lighting colors, however. It also has Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Parking Assist (it parallel parks your car for you 😁👍), and a whole lot more features! You mentioned that the Tiguan does not have that capability, and it, infact does. It's actually better than this Taos, in my opinion. The greatest difference between the two vehicles is, of course, the size. But pretty much they are the same vehicle. It's as if VW was thinking of size for their customers: small (Taos), medium (Tiguan), Large (Atlas / Atlas Sport). They all are basically the same vehicle, except for the size and the trim that you get. Ambient Lighting is what got me to get the highest trim.(Yes, I'm a big kid. I change the colors almost every week 😅.) Please note that Ambient Lighting does NOT come with all of the trims. You will have to purchase either a SE or the fully loaded SEL, which I have. Again, watching your video of the 2022 Tiguan convinced me to purchase the SEL R-Line. I am very happy with my purchase ☺️. The Taos is better for those who want a Golf or not such a big car, which you emphasized. Again, great video! 👍 😊

Just replaced my first gen Tiguan that was written off due to a careless driver with a Taos highline a few weeks back. Family of 4 with a 8 and 11 year old. Probably could have moved up to the 2022 Tiguan but our second vehicle is a ford edge so didn't really need the space (plus supply is super limited and didnt want to wait). So far its mostly been used by the wife and her daily pharmacy delivery job which it does amazing with. I do miss the engine from my old Tiguan though. Hopefully in the future they come up with a "R" variant with the 2.0L turbo or something.

I saw the taco from the beginning on the dash and I was like “what?! A taco?!” 🤣😂 I ignored it, but then when you closed the door and that taco fell on on the floor, I had to go back and see it again… my laugh was sooo loud, everyone heard me in my house. So funny!!!! A part from that… thanks for review!!

Update! I tried the launch control of the 7 speed DCT on the Taos it works like charm, can't belive they advertise this vehicles as a 8.4 second 0-60 when in reality it can do 6.9 secons using regulat 87 gas when using launch con

simple but with nice tech and features

I am a VW Guy. VW needs to GET RID OF the FAKE exhaust cutouts in the bumper. Makes no sense. Either make the bumper smooth or actually exit the exhaust through the bumper cutouts. We all know they are fake. Duh! Which brings me to another point. The Taos has the 4Motion which back in my day(I'm 54) was called the Synchro on the Vanagon and Quantum and even on the Golf(in other countries but not the USA(scratching my head). The 4Motion name is boring. The 4Motion(Synchro) Taos has the 7 speed DSG(dual clutch) transmission which means that VW MUST make a Taos R. And I am not just talking about an "R Line" cosmetic R Taos. I am talking about a full fledged Taos R(or GT version) with a 240hp GTI engine. We deserve to have this in the USA. Heck in Europe the VW provides the Tiguan R line with ACTUAL performance goodies. Why not the USA? Okay okay, enough complaining. I agree that there is plenty of competition for the VW Taos and this is why VW needs to make it stand out. Most sales will be those who are VW nuts already. But if VW does make a Taos R(GT) or an "Off Road" version with some flaring and large/wider suspension the Taos will do VERY nicely in the USA. My personal preference as far as that huge panoramic sunroof is that I prefer to not have it at all. From what I understand having a sunroof makes it so there needs to be additional bracing and in the structure and therefore make it heavier. Also, I cannot imagine the repair costs to something that large in the future and for privacy while driving inside the vehicle I do not like all that light coming into the cabin. VW, please provide an upscale VW SUV with the option of NOT having a sunroof. Also, what happened to fog lights??

I am buyer 1&2. 2023 Taos my first ever car purchase!

My daughter in law has the Taos (replaced her diesel Golf) and certainly likes the pep vis a vis the turbo. (She disliked the Subaru Crosstrek because it was "gutless".) My wife and I are looking for a small SUV so we can extended our cottage season (access is a 1km cow trail) and also tow a small tent trailer on northern Canada adventures...and get to a ski hill when needed. We currently drive a 2013 Golf Wagon and love the space in the back and the diesel. (This is our 3rd VW diesel and I owned 3 beetles previously.) While we are at the start of our vehicle search, the Subaru Forester has taken the lead because of it's robust AWD, space, road clearance, and towing ability. But how does the Taos compare tot the Forester? BTW, I'm glad I found your channel! Cheers.

My daughter and I are both owners of 2022 VW Taos and we are a huge fan The rest of my family as well drives VW's as my dad is a sales manager at a VW dealership I love my car it has a lot of safety features as well as a lot of sporty features I am not a huge fan of VW until I got this SUV I recommend it to everybody it is my daughter's first car and she got it in 2021 and loves it just the same I recommend this to all ages it is not only affordable but it is very fashionable look into it I promise if you need bigger go for the Atlas

no 2 liter tsi, no take seriously. however this would be a cool "taos gti" type package for them to up to with the 2.0 liter.

My preference is the Golf Alltrack. I am kicking myself for failing to buy an Alltrack when they were available. My local dealer is asking a thousand above original sticker price for a used 2019 Alltrack. I will probably buy the bottom trim level Bronco.

How is Taos in the snow. Live in midwest and winter can welcome AWD and most Taos models here are FWD. Does the FWD seem to be ok for snow on the road?

As a long time VW owner starting out with my first new VW a '66 Bug. More recently, I have had a Passat, Tiguan and now an Arteon. I went in recently to try the Taos. My impressions: Noisy, underpowered and swathes of hard plastic everywhere inside. I feel the pricing from $25K to $35K (S, Se, SEL) is a little too high as you can move into a superior Tiguan for a couple thousand more. The salesman told me that it is best to use Premium fuel....

As an American, I'm super jealous of the 19" wheels the rest of the world seems to be getting, while we get the all black directional design that I seriously dislike and the geometric daisy design. No thank you. I also don't like that I can't get the French Roast interior on the Pure Gray color.

I would say VW and Audi have staggered their offerings. Q3 was made larger, then this is in between the Q3 & Q5, then the Atlas Cross sport, then the Tiguan, then the Q7. And VW intentionally gave the VW offerings the wimpy engines. Too bad the QRS3 doesn't come here. Or even a SQ3. I know there's no SQ3 but would it be awesome to have a Golf R engine in the Q3?

The mirrors look HUGE!. They might get an extra couple MPG if they downsized those things. Reminded me of Dumbo's ears. Looking at them at around @5:11 @6:50, the taco falling off onto the floor was funny. Great video, like the no-nonsense coverage and under-the-radar "funnies". I'm enjoying my 2019 Atlas SEL P. Could use a bigger gas tank but....

I'm cringing every time I hear you pronounce Taos incorrectly ( I'm a German who happens to live in New Mexico hahaha ). it's not TAY-os... but then hear you say it correctly later... but overall the vid is great. It's nice to see a timeline and where it actually fits but I'm so excited to see that sportier version that was on their site -I totes picked up you guys were from Canada and I love that!...that ambient lighting adjustment is pretty awesome... I must say that I was distracted by that taco shell on the dashboard. I'm not hating the non piano-black they used unlike the ALL PIANO BLACK they used on the ID4.
