Guild Wars 2, the legendary weapons aren't just crystalline, they're going to have mini-quests to unlock appearances based on all the Elder Dragons.

True, each "crystalline" legendary weapon will have extra 5 (maybe 6) alternative skins that you can unlock in addition to the first one. They even have a blog post on their site showing off the different Greatsword skins

I've been playing GW2 again and the think that makes me want to play is the grind. I know I can spend months grinding a legendary weapon and that weapon will stay relevant for the ENTIRE LIFESPAWN OF THE GAME. That's crazy! This is how grinds should work, if I'm gonna spend a lot of time grinding something, the reward better last a long time! Same thing with mounts, I grinded them all besides Skyscale (in the process right now) and they are just amazing. GW2 is a pretty grindy game, but as I said before, the rewards are relevant forever. About the mount monetization, I just think the skins are too expensive. They have a deal where you can buy a random skin for 5 bucks which is neat because besides it being random, the list of possible skins you can get by "type of lootbox" is small, so you kind of know more or less what you are going to get. But if you want a new specific mount, then it is expensive as fuck unfortunately.

GW2 is only as grindy as you make it. You really don't have to do that. Every day I see people in chat displaying their lack of patience and attempt to encourage them to slow down and just have fun. My main account is full of bells and whistles but I've invested a minimum of time that felt like a chore. I've rotated and whittled when I felt like it and always tried to just have fun. AND it works!!! Slow down bro. Have fun. (also: my alt accounts prove that you can do so much in the game with so few features. It's kinda fun actually. Started the game in December, it is absulutely incredible Vertical progression while leveling, horizontal progression when hitting max (no grinding for better stats, but playing to unlock more gameplay variety) -> cool gear never loses its value, legendaries will always be legendaries Amazing community, cool tab targeting action combat hybrid... I am almost done with the story now, and super hyped for End of Dragons :D
@NoggDogYT
@NoggDogYT 2 года назад
I've played the game for nearly a decade, and it's been fantastic for the entire time. Once you hit max level, that's THE max level. 80 is when most content is accessible, then mastery unlocks the rest and you get mastery points by doing actual game activities. Your gear will stay viable at 80, until recently I used the same set of ascended armor for 6 years across my heavy armor characters (account bound gear!), only recently replaced it with legendary gear bound to a "legendary armory" where all items you have in it are stat swappable and usable for all characters at the same time. It really is a game that rewards playing it consistently but does not set you back if you want to step away for a while.

I'm sure others below have probably mentioned this already but, there are more than 16 new legendaries in EoD. The Crystalline Aurene set is the base and then there's a variant set for each Elder Dragon we've encountered in the game so far. Which, if I'm remembering right, is 5-6 other sets which all have their own unique look and animations so there's actually 96'ish if you count each variation. I'm actually really excited to work on making all of them (which will take a long time).

I never expect that MMO as a genre got a renaissance and even less so the cause of it was due to the state WoW is in now. I'm just glad that most people are okay to try out other MMO compared 5-10 years ago where WoW is the only accepted MMO to play. Times like this I really wish I have time to play or make clones of myself to try them all out. From replaying story mode on SWTOR on a new character, trying the mounts of GW2 and explore it's world and just to see how Lost Ark works (even though I hate the censorship they did to that game) and at the same time continue my glamour hunts on FFXIV. I feel like I'm spoiled for choice on what to play now.
@GetterRay
@GetterRay 2 года назад
Its not really because of WoW. Endwalker, End of Dragons, whatever ESO's new expansion will be, they've been in development for years. And these other games were in development before WoW started to die. New World was in development for quite a while. Riot has been making an MMO with Ghostcrawler for years now. The renaissance is an illusion. Or rather, WoW's deaththroes have broken the illusion that was keeping you from realizing that these other games exist.

Half the reason why so many people play WoW is because they have Laptops and PoS computers that won't really play better games. But don't let me intrude into your little fantasy. Just go back and play WoW, I hope you're happy there. Just don't come out into 'reality' and expect other people to respect your distorted, myopic, opinions.

I was worried about the legendaries as well for GW2, but after a post on the site, it looks like you can earn different skins based on each defeated Elder Dragon that can change the "Crystal" legendary into a "Death" or "Volcanic" or "Icy", etc legendary! It makes 1 "set" of legendary turn into 5 more! Likely the 6th unlockable version may be the one for the Deep Sea dragon - likely the one featured in this expack. Though, I imagine it might be post-launch stuff. I'm generally looking forward to EoD like crazy, I just wish they'd share the release date so I could call off work a bit.

Man, as much as I loved SWTOR, it's a game that really REALLY needs an "A Realm Reborn" treatment and revamp the whole game. It's not understandable that the engine is still so horrible that the game lags when 20 people are in the same area, it still has, 10 years after, the same classes it had at launch and too many useless or redundant skills just for the sake of having more buttons to mash (sometimes less = more). It had so many great ideas but it feels so outdated even if you compare it with wow that has almost 20 years. A nice face wash, some new classes (come ON why we can't be a Zakuul Knight with a shield and a lightsaber spear?? or wield lightsabers in reverse like Ahsoka? Or even be a damn Wookie warrior? We are talking Star Wars, the possibilities are infinite).

Guild Wars 2 has the "most involved" mount system. That doesn't automatically make it the best. A mount system is good if it complements the gameplay loop. For a game like GW2 that has a heavy emphasis on open world exploration and navigation, the system it has is great. If you took the same system and plonked it into say, WoW or FFXIV, without changing what they are on a whole, those games wouldn't be improved by that mount system.

Not only that, but the mounts also just *feel* insanely good. GW2 has an extremely good animation system, to where basically all character, NPC and animal animations just look incredibly fluid and smooth, and GW2's mounts exploit that to make them *feel* good to ride. Whereas with, say, ESO's mounts (the mounts I'm most familiar with, outside of GW2), the mounts feel very stiff and rigid, GW2's feel fluid and dynamic, with actual weight to them. It may be a bit superfluous, but, in combination with the gameplay side of the mounts, the animation really just elevates the riding experience.

Also, as said in this video the game went on its own path, away from the traditional MMORPG formula and a deeper look would benefit traditional MMO players from understanding where enjoyment comes from and how their horizontal progression philosophy holds up against the traditional vertical progression system we see in most MMOs. Archeage has the best mount system in mmos, all the mounts have different skills to fit your situation, they are all used in combat, and they all have health pools and have a cooldown if they die. they have ones for flight, one for speed, ones for swimming, ones for tanking, they have ones that can stealth, bleed, stun, knockdown, tons of crazy stuff, and there is a lot of mounts, more than 40 different mounts i would say. If you have lots of mounts, even if some share skills, you will want to hold on to quite a few incase they die in combat, so then you can pop onto a different one, so usually you dont have 1 mount you use a lot, you have like 5-10 that you use a lot. oh and you also can equip gear on them and also gem that gear for speed and stuff. And the same thing applies to gliders, combat functional gliders and using different ones for different scenarios. all equipment can be swapped anytime, which brings rise to multi gearing sets for different things, different weapons, different tactics on the fly. very very deep combat

Wow has had more chances than they deserve to prove themselves and failed at every turn. It's no longer the great game it used to be and the likes of BfA & Shadowlands are at best laughable attempts. So many have lost trust and confidence in wow and moved on months ago, it's in a bad place and not even the 9.2 currently reveal looks enough to got people back. They've gotten lazy inept and have lost their creativity. Wow is yesterday's news and the sooner Activision/Blizzard realise that, the sooner they can have a huge purge of the deadwood hierarchy and get people in with fresh ideas and creativity, and just maybe Wow may actually shine again. 9.2 won't do that and looking at the alleged leaks, neither will the next xpac. There's literally better games out there and Wow has a ginormous job to do to actually pull their fingers out and actually do something, or just keep falling down the MMo ranks.

I really like SWTOR but they need to update their UI and Settings. Every PC I try to play it on, the camera sensitivity is insanely fast on the lowest setting. When I look around that fast it always makes me feel in a rush when it’s a game I want to take at a slower pace and look around the environments cinematically. Great video as always, brother! 👌🏼

Corepunk is the most exciting new MMO that will most likely come out in 2022, if it's not delayed until 2023. The games beta has been delayed a few times, but it seems the studio making it is learning from other MMO launches (cough, New World) and are wanting the game to be very polished, even for the first public beta. The game looks like a really interesting mix between MOBA style combat and a full fleshed out theme park style MMO.

I personally am excited for archage 2, personally i think its the best mmo on the market, mechanically that is. the issues i have with it is: pay to win, absolutely disgusting time grinds for practically anything and everything (they are pretty fun to do, just extensive), very limited instanced pve, very limited end game pve in general (specially if you are looking for difficulty), and power funnels created by players via factioning and politics. But it does really well at: crafting, leveling, pvp (small, large, monumental) is really deep, completing anything feels extremely rewarding, travel system is amazing, sense of community, trade, ocean warfare, exploration, tactical fast paced combat, creating music, housing (for an mmo its pretty good, since the houses are in the open world and can be combat zones from time to time), classes are super rich since its a 3 combo of 11 trees, and the politics. there is a lot more, but in the end the cons out way the pros, the biggest thing is the p2w, its unforgivable, if the p2w wasn't there and they did better with the end game pve, it would be one of the best mmos.

There's no problem with Gw2's monetization and by that I mean the devs aren't being greedy at all. The game uses a different gear system. Gear doesn't really get better over time so rewards for completing content are gold and things you can sell to other players for gold. Gold is then converted into premium currency and with that you can buy things like mog and mount skins on the store. This is the endgame in Gw2, raids and all of that are optional content. The game might look like a cashgrab at first, but it's surprisingly free and probably the cheapest big mmo out there. All of the story patch content after an expansion is permanently unlocked for free if you log in when it's released and they barely release any new expansions, so you would only have to spend maybe $30 every 2-3 years, no sub. Typing all of this makes me question how the game even manages to stay afloat.

@Ashendal
@Ashendal 2 года назад
That seems to be what he's talking about. There's only one directly earnable mount skin, and that's locked to the WvW warclaw. Yeah you can do gold to gems, but it's still annoying that there's no other "do this content, earn a skin."
@jcm2606
@jcm2606 2 года назад
The mounts in themselves are all unlocked through gameplay, some being unlocked by just progressing through the Path of Fire maps, others being unlocked by completing collections. It's only the skins that are monetised.
