2022 Yearly Themes 

I won't say that I noticed this in a consistent or remarkable way, but I do remember thinking at some point earlier this year "is it me, or Is Grey making more videos?"

I can't believe Grey said "I really like what I do"! I swear he's getting more sentimental as the years go by!

Ah yes. The bane of every oddessy's voyage: sea creatures (sharks) and women (Tiffany). Sailor Grey forged through those stormy seas and has the tales to tell.

I do themes over seasons, and this is my Winter of Courage. I'm trying to guide myself to make more courageous decisions in my creative work. It's also been a helpful touchstone when trying to step out of my Covid hibernation and back into the world (somewhat scuppered by Omicron, but now I'm reminded to have courage in the face of more potential lockdowns - a great example of why it helps to have looser themes rather than pre-defined goals).

I wish I had thought about FOUNDATION. This year's theme was Preparation, and next year's theme (which I literally marked into my new journal yesterday!) is Balance. FOUNDATION would have been an epic follow-through in either direction.

It took me awhile to figure out what to do for this year, especially since the Year of Branching Out did not go well. Last year felt very very... bland. The pandemic finally got to me, and I started to just feel like I was losing my sense of self. So that's why 2022 is going to be year of DISCOVERY. I want to get back in touch with myself. I want to discover what I like, what I don't like.

Ey thanks guys! I was at a meeting with one of my teachers at school (it's the last day of the semester) and while I was gone my classmates decided to go see a horror movie, which is not really something I wanted. But just when I returned this released! And now I've got ~2 hours to actually enjoy! (Without being bothered by the movie or screaming classmates) Thanks a lot! :)

I have yet to set it into paper but I'm thinking this will be the Year of Shift. 2021's theme was "Year of Uncomfortable": I strived to rock the boat instead of caving to my anxiety and it worked in my favor every time. This theme is going to merge my old tendency to plan with my new love for bold shots. Rock the boat for little things, make a plan on how to tip the ship. The ship I plan to tip being my secret theme.

This year is officially my Year of Wedding. My partner and I are getting married at the end of this year so this theme has a very clear end point and I have only a vague idea of how to get there. The theme requires that I spend at least some time planning or discussing or actioning something towards our wedding. I'm also going to be continuing my seasonal themes as well, first season is the Season of Routine, getting back into some of the routines I tried to put into place this time last year and also some new ones.

I gave it some thought and my theme for this year will be. Professionalism. Retroactively 2019 turned out to be the year of health, and that continued into 2020 due to the pandemic. 2020 and 2021 have been... chaotic and also interesting, oddly enough the first and second halves seem to have separate themes. So i might consciously give halves a theme. Finishing up university. Falling behind on studying? "Be professional." Take up an assignment. Be professional. It also fits with other things, and something that happened with my girlfriend gave me the revelation. I was *almost* late for the new years trip i set up for us because i forgot the tickets in another jacket and had to run home. And she keeps sending me memes about running late. That was not professional of me. Be professional. Be on time. Making a resume? Be professional. On the fence about applying for an internship? Be professional, do it, don't be afraid that it will postpone graduation. Going somewhere? Be professional, look nice. (Not too formal tho). Procrastinating during the day? "What if you were in a workplace? Be professional." Eating junk or something healthy? Be professional. (This might be stretching it)

I have 2 themes for this year. Year of Destruction and Year of New Growth they both refer to this quote "new growth cannot exist without first the destruction of the old" so the year of destruction is all about destroying my "old growth" (things about myself that I don't like) and the year of new growth is about allowing my new growth (new things that I do like) to take form in me. I split them up cause I feel like if I have my yearly theme be both then it'll end up putting too much pressure on me at once so by splitting them I am having myself take it more step by step

2021 was survival. 2022 is going to be recovery I think

Mine year is Be Proactive. I think my biggest problem this year was procrastination and setting this as the mindset seems a good way to make my brain recognize what I'm procrastinating on

I've been struggling with a theme, was gonna try to try and just learn new software and art styles and such, but year of learning feel like what I try to make every year about and feels too general... though I think where I am suffering most is just a fear of failure through out all my project... I have learned well the idea of "Fail Faster" But I don't believe I have ever managed to allow myself to truly take advantage of the concept. Maybe I condensed my previous year theme to much to a single concept or trait with "Decluttering" and hearing greys theme I believe I will turn this into "The Year of Failing Faster" The whole idea is to not get caught up in too many details, or get ahead of myself with the bigger picture, but to simply power out small components as much as I can till a larger whole begins to take form. I'm not entirely sure how I will manage this, especially being already a month into the year, but I guess starting with that observation is the first step.

My theme for the year is Year of Writing. I'm aiming to finish a couple of writing projects, and when those are done, I have plenty of other smaller writing related tasks that can hop on board. The goal is to get faster and more consistent as a writer. Can only do it if I do the work. For the season it's the season of starting. I'm a massive procrastinator. There's nothing worse than procrastinating all day on something that ends up taking 5-minutes. I'm usually pretty good when I have started, I can even transition tasks/projects easily enough. The starting part though - that's murder.

I try to do themes for whatever timeframe I feel fits best for this chapter in my life. I'm about to embark upon the Spring of Synergy, where I try to get more in-tune with my physical and mental health, as well as my self-image. I guess this is a really broad theme, but it currently has a few narrow meanings to me.

My 2020 theme was health, this was just pre covid and I just wanted to get healthy and look after my body more, then don’t get COVID was added mid year This then continued with 2021 and I think it will 2022 Stay safe everyone

May I just rudely barge in with my yearly theme? My theme this year (my third yearly theme inspired by YOUS GUYS) is 4D, because my previous year was also 4D, and I'm aiming for 8. Every season is a D, and this winter is the Decluttering winter. Half of my useless clothes now belong to unnameD Azerbaijani Dumprser Divers, and the plastic bottle cemetery hiding in the Darkest corners of my all-room has now turned into several hydraulic waterpipes for herbs. So far this is going great.

So um, can we get episode numbers on this and State of the Apps so that there's an unbroken line of numbers. Please, this is annoying me. I had to open Google podcasts to figure out that there wasn't a missing episode on RU-vid.

I wish you had a shop either in Europe or the UK, the delivery charges from the US are a bit too much (Set up in northern ireland and get both). I love your diary idea though :)
