If you look at the frames (images) at 1:46 you can see the image of the white underwing that confuses the folks to this day in Arkansas who think they saw a Ivory Billed Its NOT an Ivory Billed - as much as I wish it was... It's a Pileated underwing
I know the ivory bill is probably extinct. But we should still rejoice that we have these beautiful Pileated woodpeckers, they are no less grand. Kind of like blue jays, commonly ignored because of their abundance but perhaps one of the most beautiful birds around
They are not built for walking. Perfectly adapted for trees. I recently bought 20 acres of old forest in Southern Missouri and have been building a small cabin and was pleasantly surprised to see, and hear the big 'peckers among the white oaks.
We have a few of these beauties but they move around so fast it's hard to see them. I loved seeing him up close on your vid. Perfectly done! Thank you for posting this beautiful animal.
@@mortalclown3812 We all called them that from the time I began forestry school, knowing full well it was the pileated woodpecker. It's a big bird, and a funny thing to say it, that's all. Everybody knows the ivory billed woodpecker is extinct and we knew it then. You don't really need a nick- name for an animal you'll never see, something no one alive today has seen.
